Mike has been playing the guitar since he was 12 years old, and from that first moment his love affair with music and the instrument began. Fresh out of school at the age of 16 he attended the Academy of Contemporary Music in Guildford and completed a year-long Diploma course.
After finishing the ACM his life as a full time musician began, playing in numerous bands and touring up and down the country playing iconic venues such asThe Shepherds Bush Empire, The Astoria, The Underworld and London’s Jazz Café. He’s also been fortunate enough to support industry legends Paul Weller, Blondie and Katie Melua.
Mike’s session work has led to his working on a variety of projects - from performing with stars such as Ricky Wilson and Diana Vickers, to appearing in many TV shows and adverts. Mike loves being on stage performing, but is equally at home recording in a studio - where he has worked with Alex Von Soos (All Saints, Seal, Atomic Kitten), Mike Horner (The Prodigy, Shakira, Bloc Party), and Mike Chapman (Blondie, Suzi Quatro)
Guitars with built-in effects exist since the early 80's... That's a guitar from the past, and with a cheap construction, looks like a toy.
Very cool, extremely interesting. Love the guitar but I have one minor question: Can headphones be connected to the Lava Me 3?
Not my idea of a guitar. One for the younger generation I suppose. Unpack, tune and play(badly) is my style.
Great review! I have an ME2 and the Lava Uke. I gig with them. My ME3 is supposed to be delivered today. Looking forward to playing with it. Thanks!
This guitar looks and sounds so cool and this is definitely the guitar of the future and I am sure you are gonna play some great things on it.
Aww thank you Michael, yes looking forward to exploring all the sounds with it.
It's actually a dumb guitar that will not activate (LAVA+ app not connecting to the device's regional server. Contact customer support), and customer service doesn't answer. There is no "SKIP" option for activating, so now, I just have a fairly ugly guitar that doesn't sound as good as my Martin.
That's so cool. I also enjoy how giddy Bradley is upon discovering new stuff about the guitar.
I guess the future was a little missing on Lava Me 3, no neck adjustment. Mine has a built in bow of about 0.13. Can you dig it. Not me
I'm really not into acoustics, but this is really nice. I fancy this. We are living in the future, actually!
Built-in effects in guitars exist since the early 80's...
@@Deadikace I didn't know. Were they any good?
@@drnobe Yes, but it was mainly on electric guitars, check the Aria U100 Urchin for example, a very rare guitare with built-in effects. Patrice Vigier also experimented with the Nautilus preamp (that had tons of built-in effects) in his first Arpege guitars series. A lot of Japanese brands from this era also experimented with built-in effects, some were better than others.
I can’t believe it took you over 21 minutes to reference Back to the Future…😏 and Mike, you make a living with your fingers. Use a knife to open the box!!!
Haha I know, I was very disappointed with myself it took me so long!
20:14 😅
By far the most entertaining unboxing of anything I’ve ever watched. Loved it! Cool guitar too.
Awww, lovely to hear Brett.
12:54 was not expecting that sick ass strumming 😍
Aww thank you, appreciate it
More like Bill and Ted's excellent adventure type 💩😂🤣😂
Voice is very Mr Sambora! 👏👏👏👏🍺
Oh wow, thank you, I’ll take that.
@Mike Bradley do so! He is the whole reason I started playing & what a voice 👍🏻
These guitars are so great man! I heard one a little while back for the first time in person and it shocked me how good they sounded. Those effects are something else. Great video Mike! (and lol @ 3:40) 🤣
Cheers buddy, yes was very pleasantly surprised, they sound and feel great with lots of features and even hardly go out of tune!! 😎
@@MikeBradleyofficial They smell good as well huh! 🤣
@@intheblues hahahaha of course!!
Lol when he stopped himself from playing the a star is born song 😂
What a nightmare. Who wants to deal with wifi, software bugs and updates, and the inevitable broken screen on something like this? I'm no luddite either, but if this is the guitar from the future, I'll happily step off this train of guitar technological "progress".
If what he was showing was an example of the base version of software, seems to be running really really smoothly to me. While I will always favor a traditional electric guitar, I can totally understand the market for this and I can appreciate what they're trying to do.
Not only that, built-in effects in guitars exist since the early 80's... it's a cheap guitar from the past
Either the intonation is bad or you tuned it sloppy?
Great stuff. The line about the instructions was quite relevant for me.
Hahaha I have a feeling many will be able to relate.
Thank you for sharing you enthusiam for your new guiyar.
Thanks for watching!
Please do a update video ❤
Great video/review and even better to hear someone with a real accent :)
You can sing man. Where you born with singing ability or did you learn it? Goes well with guitar.
Thank you very much. Have just kept at it over the years.
Do they do an aged version, I think that's the future too, I'll be off building tanks when that happens.
😂🤣
If apple made a guitar
What colour is that called? Beautiful. Biggest question…. How is the action at the nut and 12th fret? Can you measure? Great video. I think I was almost as excited as you were as you took it out and the ran through some of the features. This might be a game changer. Excited to watch your next video with it after you have got a bit more familiar with the features.
PLAY MY LAVA EVERY DAY> SWEET AS A NUT.
Loads of reviews of this on YT but this is the best Mike. Education question, can you load a backing tack into it? The loop function looks ,dare I say ,easy to use no foot stomping and stressing. Have you tried it live/gig yet?
No
LOVE mine in soft gold color... has been the most fun! Enjoy!
Hello friend....really enjoyed your video. I am buying one of these guitars and my only concern at this point is the size of the guitar as the new Lava 3 me comes in both 36 inch and 38 inch size. Can you or anyone of your subscribers tell me if they find the 36 inch size guitar a tad too small to play? I am an experienced guitarist looking to take my playing to next level and will be spending many hours outside practicing modes, scales, arpegios etc. Just concerned that 36 inch may be a tad too small as I want to be able to transfer my new skills to a full size axe. . Love to hear from you or anyone who uses either size. Thanks so much.
I remember having that debate, and because of that I went for the bigger one, which personally I would advise as wouldn’t want it any smaller
@@MikeBradleyofficial thanks for advice. I ordered a 38 inch in the space grey😁
@@director2bob amazing! Let me know how you get on with it
That chilli pepper segment sold a million guitars.
Hahaha. Yeah that was a cool find!
Would you say it's a good guitar? I'm considering purchasing one.
Yes it’s a really cool guitar. Will be doing another video with it soon
@@MikeBradleyofficial Cool. Thanks!
Is this the space grey color?
Sure is.
Looks like fun.....have u still got it?
Literally just posted a video using it again.
@@MikeBradleyofficial arrr haaaa!
Great video but is there any part of that guitar that isn’t plastic besides the strings?
It’s made of carbon fibre.
@@MikeBradleyofficial ah so it is plastic .. thanks!
Carbon fiber is far from plastic, bud. Its literally sheets of carbon, pressed together or formed, depending on brand. The advantage of using carbon fiber is that its resistant to temperature and humidity and is incredibly strong. You will never need to adjust a truss rod with a carbon fiber guitar, or worry about taking it out of a hot trunk, or leaving it outside in your backyard after a wild night. Carbon fiber guitars can potentially last longer than your lifetime provided you dont run it over. Their tone is also much louder and brighter than most acoustics and its very subjective as to whether you like it or not. Some brands have gone to great lengths to make carbon fiber acoustics sound like traditional acoustics, but this is ultimately marketed as a near indestructible and worry-free higher price point starter/intermediate brand of guitars, with the fun electronics gimmicks as an extra hook for some looping and recording fun.
If you want to talk about plastic guitars, check out the brand Ovation... id debate that for their low prices and their plastic builds, they actually dont sound half bad. But they're certainly not everyones cup of tea. Same goes for carbon fiber guitars.
If you live by the sea, or at a high dry altitude, or just live in a climate with large humidity swings over the course of a year, these guitars are a god send as they require no humidity management. They're also great camping guitars!
What is the size of this guitar?
Not sure on the dimensions, but would say like a half size guitar, maybe a little bit bigger
@@MikeBradleyofficial thanks 🙏🏻
Where did you get that sweater?
It’s from Hollister.
@@MikeBradleyofficial thank you sir. Digg your videos by the way 😁
Lefty?
I've just been on the web site, can't find lefty 😢
Life is so unkind
Can always did what Hendrix did and flip it upside down? 😎
Me and Jimmy would like to file a complaint about not being able to see the screen when flipped upside down😏lol!!
@@mikeshanermusic haha.. little fun fact for you. I’m left handed myself so feel your pain.
How dose it compare sound wise to the Yamaha you had
Completely different tbh. Both ha e their own voices and qualities.
First thumbs up, great job Mike; please make and play a song for Ukrainian people, cheers
Thank you! Yes good shout.
@@MikeBradleyofficial another utuber created this and I like it a lot: ruclips.net/video/AH5a5b4_Ljk/видео.html
That will surely save them!
@@donefinished on your channel you are speaking about God yet your note seems to be cynical, not nice
@@utube321piotr exactly right. Cynacism and my faith are not mutually exclusive. What good does a song/pandering do for ukraine? Rather pray for Ukraine it will do much more.
GREAT content, as usual!.
Thank you buddy!
