"Everything was on fire!" - how Ukrainian firefighters put out fires near the front line

- Before the full-scale Russian invasion, they worked the same way as their colleagues in other fire departments in Ukraine. Now, in addition to extinguishing fires, they have another important task - to survive under extensive Russian shellings because they work on the front lines. The Halytsynivka volunteer fire department was formed in 2015. Back then, the village council realized that the nearest fire department of the State Emergency Service did not have time to cover their territory as well. By February, they were fighting fires that humans mainly caused. After the Russian invasion, their community, located on the border with the Kherson region, found itself in a war zone. Now fires are most often caused by Russian artillery. Fires that sometimes cover forest hectares must be extinguished under enemy shellings. As a retired New Zealand firefighter, I often think of and pray for the safety of the courageous firefighters and emergency workers of Ukraine. We used to say that we went into danger when others were fleeing from it. These men and women don't just go into danger, they have it fired at them as they work. My admiration and gratitude to them knows no bounds. Slava Ukraini, kia kaha.
Very nicely stated Kiwi NZ retired firefighter. Yes, when I watch these fire fighters work tirelessly from russian attacks I admire them and feel in awe! I heard there was support from other European fire fighters with some supplies and help. I am sure then cannot get to all the fire houses though. I do hope this department gets vehicles from the sickening russian attack on them. russia makes me sick to my stomach! Getting them out of Ukraine in any way possible is the only solution if they are so easily influenced to go to Ukraine to kill and rape children and People. Sick minded attitude! Cycle toured it for 10 months, mostly South Island, and another two trips years later to join friends on Kayak trip and to go tramping again. What a safe and lovely country you have. Not all heroes carry guns. I served my country for six years as a soldier. I served nine years as a fire fighter and wild land fire fighter. It served my soul to help people out in car accidents or to save a home from burning. Slava Ukrani!

Shocking! russia makes me sick to my stomach! Shelling such an important fire department and using cluster bombs! So glad you let us know everyone was OK. But the equipment and vehicles all burned to prevent their work! Will the international community pull through to get them another few vehicles?? Is this story enough to get the word out? They fight fires, rescue people, dig out the bodies of fellow citizens....and all while under heavy incoming ordinance. Привіт, я зі США і не розумію, чому ви не отримуєте виплату за небезпечні умови. Ви на передовій, і всі ви заслуговуєте на це своєю хоробрістю та готовністю ризикувати своїм життям, щоб врятувати інших людей. Щодо спалювання лісів, то вони це роблять для того, щоб українській армії не було в чому приховати свою важку артилерію, а значить, треба було стріляти і мчати далі. Але в мене є божевільна ідея, усі мої ідеї божевільні, доки вони насправді не спрацюють, отже. Пофарбуйте транспортні засоби в той же колір вугільно-чорного. Нехай люди, які виготовляють камуфляж, використовують вугільно-чорний колір. Намалюйте на камуфляжі те, що виглядає як верхівки згорілих дерев, якщо дивитися зверху, і розмістіть живі гілки, очищені від листя та пофарбовані в чорний колір, які є відносно світлими, з дерев’яними підставками або липучками, прикріпленими донизу та протилежним боком липучок на камуфляжний матеріал, і вони точно поєднуються. Зріжте кілька менших спалених дерев і притуліть їх до артилерійської машини. Інша ідея - використання камуфляжу, що нагадує згорілий російський танк. Тримайте під рукою кілька таких турелей і розмістіть їх на деякій відстані. Росіяни їх стільки бачили, що й другого погляду не хочуть. Це багато роботи, але я знаю, що в Україні є багато ремісників, які сподіваються допомогти. Якщо це врятує життя та обладнання, це того варте. Слава Україні!

I have just recently found this channel.. And i have been going through several of the videos.. These Journalist deserve so much.. They have been sharing the real people of Ukraine.. The emotions from the guy a few videos back who cried when he thought of the children lost.. To the story of Padre who was a minister and medic that lost his life.. The life of a soldier in bad conditions, Farmers, Fire brigades, etc etc.. This is real Ukraine.. And i can not thank you enough for bringing it in a format with sub titles that reaches me here in America..
As i see the fields lined with trees in distance i am reminded of here.. land is land.. Home is home.. And you have every right to defend it and fight for it.. I have friends there, and in Russia.. And i really wish the Russian people would stand up and change the regime that is causing this.. I believe it can and will happen.. This cost has been high for both.. Meaning that there is thousands of Russian mothers who are loosing sons and husbands in this also.. And they will never know what actually happened to them.. And it is all because of stupid Putin..
Ukraine will win this.. They have no choice but to.. And i hope we can give them the equipment needed to go on the offensive soon.. Glory to Ukraine.. And thanks again hromadske for your stories..
