Wow! This inspired me to look for more single track trails and do a bit more technical stuff with my dog. She loves running trails way more than dirt roads, but I'm a bit scared of going fast downhill on difficult sections.
They are supposed to help you pull so you go faster, it's the whole point of canicross. There are special harnesses for the person to wear so the pressure is evenly distributed over the whole hip and buttocks, they actually are pretty comfortable and give you that extra speed boost. Every sport has risk of course it's just part of doing a high impact activity
