so, to translate what Coppersan said,
there used to be 3 ruling "deities" of time, life and light/dark(user's choice) of mapleworld, each world like grandis has its own set of 3. (they are sometimes immortal)
The deities are known as transcendents
The latest diety of light awoke to its power and chose dark becoming the black mage, it wanted to free themselves from the beings that made the creates transcendents, think of them like the true gods or the ceo while the transcedants were just franchise owners.
The black mage then stole the power of the time to become even more powerful but was sealed by 5-6 heroes.
a couple decades or hundreds of years pasts and Black mage round 2 starts only this time, there are more than 5-6 heroes which is every class from adventurers to kinesis to angellic busters to the cygnus knights with you being the "main hero" and you all make an alliance.
The black mage's scientology cult makes a giant war ship, you destroy it and almost die, to save you the leader of the alliance gives you a "god power/max revive" so now you can actually kill dieties (LETS HOPE YOU'RE NOT EVIL)
The black mage knowing he'd die if he gets jumped broke into the ex-diety of time's "secret rewrite present day reality" room and made a river that has like 10 different stops, each for his generals and 1 for him where he does the "rewrite reality so I can be cooler than the CEO" spell to change the world.
You walk in and jump his ass.
And that's the story arc that took more than decade.
In 2024 last I check, the new story is about another fucking diety but now for Time from the world of grandis deciding to fuck shit up and free the 365 elder gods. Or racism, I'm not super sure.
The elder gods essentially are the main villians of the CEOs and turns out the 3 dieties for each world kinda has a natural existence passive buff where if they exist the elder gods aren't able to rise up.
