i absolutely adore watching time team videos. found them during the pandemic. i‘m austrian so i had no clue about them beforehand and it‘s such a joy to discover so much great content. also amazing to see the technological advances when you compare older episodes with newer ones. i often wonder about older digs and how much more could have been explored with lidar for example
Looking at the 4 of them in the "chapel" at 46m13s, it really shows how small it is... Around here, that would be about the size of a walk-in closet...
Do we ever see one of these programmes without Robbo entering from stage left, huffing and puffing as he trots somewhere while narrating and then exiting stage right? Such an action-packing production tactic.
No wonder they can only dig for three days…they have a genuine world famous knight and a world famous archaeologist and world famous historian on their payroll for this video…🤣 That couple now can share one heck of a story and even write a coffee table book…I would…
They make a great mystery of Upton, i guess for the purposes of selling us the program, where there really isn't. It's full history is available in the local library [Pembroke i think. Details on the castle and the Malephants i got from Haverfordwest Library in 1976], its structure, exact build dates, the family, who is in the chapel; there is no mystery. I've always loved Time Team but their disingenuous methodology has me wondering about them some times.
@@tarajperson262 Well the answer may lie with Mick Aston's arguments with the production when he left. Can't fault the archaeologists for liking a paying job. But. they do say the pieces given to them so....
You can only see the surface contours with Lydar technology, if your wanting to see what was filled in beneath today's ground surface... you need to use GPR or ground penitrating radar.
Kind of disappointed in this venture. Their historian found written proof in a couple of days, which the research could have been done long before coming to the site. Plus, examining the interior, in just 4 hours, determined it was medieval, without the need to dig so many holes.
I like Time Team but this is fake as the history of Upton is well known. There is no real mystery here. But Tony is so good at doing these shows that I love watching these vids. He is very charismatic.
Yay. I found a person after my own heart. Never liked Neil OR Francis Prior. Neil is whiny and came across as knowing nothing and Francis seemed to always sit on the fence and never committed to anything and would change his mind like the wind. I always nicknamed him the ‘paper reed’ as he would bend in every direction during the same programme.
I would let the Time Team into my house. Whether I let them out again or not is another question.
😂😅😮
You could probably bribe them to stay with some tea and cake! Or beer lol!
LOL! I agree 😅. G Ire
😂😂😂
Sometimes it comes handy to have a dungeon to be excavated really 😂

I enjoyed this episode. I could listen to Suzannah Lipscomb all day, she's so knowledgeable in Tudor history
2:37 - This part really got me thinking... 🤯 Love how you make these complex ideas so easy to understand!
BINGO! Another success. Well done. You delivered again. Loved this episode. Thank you. 😊
Time Team should start marketing a soda called "Geo Fizz".
This! 🤣🤣
Could also be a cocktail. To be had during the Time Team drinking game.
wow, this is a rare one that I've not seen before!

Such a beautiful place before and now. The history is always amazing. The bones carbon dated to when?
Pre 1200 I think - nothing exact tho
Fantastic research.
I wish these were 7 days to be done on episodes

So funny that I knew Tony Robinson from Time Team before I saw Blackadder.
WHAT! I could not get it out of my head that it sounded so much like Baldrick! That explains everything

"part looks medieval and part looks 19th century" seems like something that doesn't have just one architect.

Yeah, but is it the archeologist fault or the producers?

Seems odd there's no Geophys before they dig.
My mom's family name is Upton
They didn’t make much use of Raksha. Disappointing, though I did enjoy this episode.
It would seem that the "castle" is actually a fortified manor house.
13 mins in and I'm wondering if any geophysics is going to be done...GPR sounds like it could have worked...oh and there is goes, just a little bit
The Victorian sunken gardens... sunk that as well.
Demonstrate making medieval glass

38:32 is Phils akubra made in Australia? 🤠🦘
❤
I just cannot take the new 'commentator'. Totally ruins the new shows. Go Sir Tony!
Just more proof that you can't did *anywhere* in Britain without finding some old shit...
So far all Colin Furze has found is rock and mud- so there is at least one exception
Tony's pregnancy is really coming along.
how rude! lol
I confess I was concerned about his blood sugars.... G Ire
@@alexisdespland4939More than rude, it’s just pure ignorance and stupidity.
Is it possible to replace Neil Holbrook with an AI character? I always want to switch off when he starts his winging.

Can't you carbon date the rock of the buildings?
