    Welcome to the muzzleloader world. As for the palm saver I personally find it gets in the way more then is helps. I use the projectile starter to set the projectile and protect my hand. As for sighting in 50 is fine for sighting in but most recognized distance it 100yards. Most because of the scope manufacture. The “clicks” on your scope or normally set for a know adjustment at 100yards. All of mine are 1/4 inch at 100yards. But to sight in at 50 yards you would simply half that for 1/8 inch per click. Now the fun part, hunting. I would recommend finding someone local for license purchase and hunting regulations. They would also be a better source for how to hunt your area and the game in it. I wish you the best of luck.

      Run a pre saturated patch followed by 2 dry patches between every shot and that will keep your accuracy more consistent I have noticed this wjth mine anyhow speaking from my experience I also after every 3-4 shots will fire just a primer to clear the chamber in the breech plug of any residue etc.

    I've seen this bore sighting method deliver some way off impacts a few times because the scope mount holes are drilled/tapped off center or crooked in relation to the bore.

      If is the case them your rifle will never shot right at distance. I bought an old 7mm that was tapped wrong. Even though I sight in at 100yards when I went for 200 the bullet push right and got worst at 300. If this happen I would sale it ASAP. Thanks for watching

      Low Pressure 50 Caliber Smokeless Loads in a 209 Factory Muzzleloader, 2 DVD set | eBay

      @@blackpressurecartridgesolu9028 backyard ballistics has a good video but it’s a bit complicated. The specific powder needs to be carefully chosen. More problematic you need to have consistent seating depth. I just don’t think smokeless muzzleloaders are common cuz it’s such a liability. Most of the smokeless muzzleloaders look to me to be either overbuilt or designed for specific powder projectile combinations.
      But if my optima V2 pistol can handle 28,000-35,000 psi I would expect it to handle smokeless equivalent??? However unlike cartridges you have to “handload” (use that term loosely) on the fly.

      @@danielcurtis1434 Savage Arms proved smokeless powder can be used safely, and accurately in a muzzleloader over 20 years ago. The loads on my DVD's are lower pressures than the Savage Load Data, but the same concept. One of the reasons smokeless powders have not been widely used in muzzleloaders is the brain-washing we have been exposed to. Corrosive powders sell muzzleloaders. If you saw the number of rusted out barrels in my gunsmith shop, you would see how the game works. The loads on these DVDs are the same or lower pressures than those produced by Blackhorn209.

    Where is your palm saver on your ram rod? You don't have one screwed into you rod.
    Thanks for the video. I tried to sight in my New CVA Wolf V2 yesterday without a range scope and it was very difficult. I did hit paper, but was really low on target and didn't have all the bore cleaning solution to keep my barrel really clean. I did my best, but you definitely help with my sighting issues. Is 50 yards a good bore sighting distance until I can get a good range scope. I don't hunt, although I would like to someday. I wasn't raised in a hunting family and now I'm 58 with knee and back issues. I sure would love to bring down at least one Deer, Elk, Bear, Bore or maybe even a Sasquatch. Can you help me understand the process of getting my hunting license and going out an actually hunting?
    Thanks

      Thank you for watching. Its never too late to get started. As for sighting in you rifle... There have been a few times that a scope was so far off that brining the target to 25 yards was needed. Usually this is the small 22LR barrels that are harder to see through. But once you have impact you should be able to adjust the scope pretty quick. Assuming you have a quality scope. As for the license and the hunting, I would point to someone local to you as every state is different and hunting different animals is just that... a total different animal. I would start with your Department of Natural Resources or your Wildlife Management Department depending on what your state calls them.

      @suburbanhunt3653 I was able to get my scope sighted in. I first started at 50 and was dead on after a few adjustments. Then, at 100 yd, I was a little low but ran out of time to adjust for the distance. But I did have a good grouping, but a little low at center target. Next time, I get it dialed in perfectly. I was using hotshot pellets with 300grain bullets. Second time shooting my rifle. I feel great with my ability.

      The Scope is the Konus Pro 275. The manual states to sight in center cross hair at 100 yards. There is a mark above the center cross hair and that’s meant for 75 yards. Then below the center cross hair is 125 to 275 in 25 yards increments.

    • @suburbanhunt3653
      @suburbanhunt3653 10 месяцев назад

      The biggest tip is you don't have to spend a lot money for a good rifle. CVA Wolf are inexpensive and works great. If accuracy is name of the game then loose powder is where you want to go. In my opinion measuring by weight is more accurate then volume. If you do go pellets running 150gr (3 pellets) seem to always group better. Don't bother with any "muzzleloader specific" primers if you can help it. You better off with standard or mag primers. Federal 209A, CCI Mags, and Cheddites.. in that order I find work best. Lastly most muzzleloader shots are within 100 to 150 yards no need to break the bank on a scope focus more on the focal plane and glass quality. Muzzleloading is a lot of fun and adds yet another weapon in your hunting arsenal. I wish you the best of luck out there. Happy Shooting.

    What’s your process of cleaning between shots?

    • @suburbanhunt3653
      @suburbanhunt3653 Год назад +2

      I’ve gone to using Triple 7 foam. So remove plug, spray Triple 7 foam through both sides of barrel, let set for 30 secs, run 2 dry patches through( I use both sides of one patch), use a 50cal brush to clean crude ring and plug threads, run 2 dry patches (again I use both sides of the same patch). Then I clean both sides of the plug, then use the flash hole cleaner to make sure flash hole is clear. Place a little plug grease on plug and install.

      I will definitely be testing the loose triple 7 both FFG and FFFG. The only reason I haven’t up until now is because a Muzzle loader just started and I focus on Blackhorn 209. As a real loader, I lean more towards the loose powder and their available consistency. I weigh all my loads out to ensure the best accuracy of each load. I do look forward to testing loose triple 7.
