I’m in the midst of training for my CDLS and this whole time I’ve been repeating your pre trip videos for a conventional bus and I’m taking the test in a front engine transit please make a video for this particular bus. Your channel is very helpful
Thank you so much for posting this video! The CDL pre-trip inspection test in California has changed and now requires us to check the undercarriage and engine compartment. You speak very clear, concise and you explain things impeccably. It’s truly appreciated!
Therese you are looking better than ever! You helped me pass my road test 4 years ago and I always come back to you for my biennial. Testing tomorrow!!!
Little different from LA unified but besides that you are a champ ..fantastic job , you got to the point and covered every part of the bus . I have no problem in sharing yours pretrip with others . keep up the good work your experience made you a great teacher ..thank you be safe out there.
Thank you so much for this video. I've watched it several times now. I do have two questions for you. 1) You checked the passenger side wheel areas in great detail. On the driver's side you merely mentioned that you'd do the same here. Is that sufficient for the actual test, or were you just saving time for the video? 2) Is it OK to ask the tester to help with the final light inspections, or do I need to bring a friend to help me. Of course, since I won't be licensed at that time I'll have a licensed friend with me so either way is fine. I just don't want to ask the tester for help if that's not allowed. I hope to test later this summer. Thanks for your help!!
Hi Flint… great questions and thank you for asking. In Ohio, it is acceptable to mention you would check the other side the way you checked the first side. The tester will go outside to check the light functions, as you make the lights from the inside. I hope that makes sense.
Your videos were instrumental in helping me get my CDL to become a bus driver in September! Thank you! I have a question I was hoping you could answer: which lights are required to be on when driving a school bus in the daytime besides the headlights? I drive a Thomas and when the switch is in the automatic position, my lights come on, however, the clearance lights/running lights go out when it is bright enough. They all do come on when I engage my wipers.
Best practice is to drive with your headlight switch in the on position. When you keep the headlight switch off, and rely on the automatic features, the headlights will turn off when your brake is pulled and on when it is released. I tell all my drivers to drive with their headlights on at all times, when driving.

Thanks so much. Haha2241! Continued success… 😁
Like your videos! Park brake range is 20-45 psi. We had an examiner not pass one of our drivers because of that number range.
It’s 20-40 here in Ohio… always check with your local test center for any specifics regarding the tests.
Thnks! I'll be testing on 2024 and now I'm not afraid anymore, making my notes thanks again
I'm testing do on too
Looking forward to seeing the new full school bus pre trip inspection videos soon.
Trip inspection sugar to be checked on the bus in case of us breaks down or if it does break it does down
Hey, if you’re in Switzer, you should if you chose Switzer first team that you’re checking your voice before every wrote you do
Very similar to CA. Thanks!
Just know all lights needed to be on when checking. You can’t tell if they are working when they not on
Excellent video!! perfect and relevant for anyone trying to do a proper pre-trip!
Thanks so much for your positive comment and feedback…both are greatly appreciated. 😁

Hey Therese so I ride the bus home from school and I was wondering why school bus drivers always wave when they drive past each other🤔
I think it’s just become a habit or an acknowledgment of a fellow school bus driver.
