Im so curious on how the FMJ compares to the NRX+ 873? 🤔 They sound similar but from what I see, I feel that the 873 is just a bit more parabolic than the FMJ. But would love to see a ultimate jig rod video on the Daiwa Steez Utility Player, NRX+ 873c CRR, Destroyer P5 FMJ and other rods.
Have you tried the universal power steez? it sounds super similar to the BMG based on how you described it. Its a sick magdraft rod. Its one of the least talked about rods in that lineup and does almost everything the bmg does based on how you describe it with a little more lenght. i love that thing for carolina rigs and magdrafts and wanna know how it compares
I wonder... since I started building my own rods my casting has become much more accurate and consistent. In rod building all your components are built along the spine of the rod ( the spot where, when the blank is rolled, and the edges come together where it's the stiffest) by aligning the components with the spine it eliminates torsional load (twisting when under load). Easy test is put the butt on the floor, load the blank with one hand and roll between your fingers. If spine aligned it will snap into place with reel seat and guides under the circumference of the bend for spinning outfits and on top of the bend for casting outfits. I'm curious if megabass has taken this into consideration. It's a time consuming part of rod building but I believe makes a big difference.
The way the P5 blank is woven and layered together, versus how other companies lay the carbon out in a linear fashion, the P5 series are essentially spineless. You are correct though, building a traditional blank on its spline is critical in making a good rod. Before i knew how to check if a rod was built on its spline, it was really hard to figure out why some rods just felt “off” once you started fishing with it. It makes a huge difference
Cashion is another brand where they claim they don't have a spine because of their uni-directional blanks. St Croix said they build on the straightest edge instead of the spine.. different stroke for different folks I guess. Lol
From the way you describe the BMG is sounds like it’s also gonna be sick for buzzjets, I-louds, and even 3/4oz swingheads… I can’t wait for mine! Thanks for convincing me to get one, Ben!
Hope your Japan trip is going good… have a beer for me… or 6! Sounds crazy, but that BMG seems like it would work well for the 3/4 or 1oz Chatterbait. Maybe I’m crazy, but the way you describe it, just seems like that’s another possible use
I’m considering the new FMJ. You mentioned that they made the handle longer and I like that. How long is the handle from the trigger to the butt? Thanks.
I just purchased the Madbull and also bought the BMG for 6 inch magdrafts. How do you feel the Madbull does with it? Does it feel over powered? I seen that same video of Ben using it.
@@rickybudeanu3002 maybe a little overpowered yes...the BMG is going to be a better option for the 6" magdrafts but the Madbull is legit and because its shorter, a good option for tight quarters
@@marcusvidrine7688 appreciate the response, dude. I recently picked them up both and haven’t had a chance to use them yet. Plan on only using my BMG for the Magdraft and my Madbull will be my all around moving bait rod for single hook and trebles.
X bites is a lightweight sensitive 1/4oz to 3/8oz finesse jig or Texas rig rod. Like others said could also throw 3/8oz spinner bait it just is a bit under powered but still an excellent rod. IMHO
@@jimbo0411 very helpful, I’m basically looking for a lighter texas/jig for the bulk of my work on spotted bass loaded highland reservoirs and something a tad heavier before we hit my current heaviest rod; the Tequila Baccarac. I currently own an x-bites and am looking for something to pair with it like the FMJ or 873-hence my question. TB does a surprisingly good job at the versatile stuff that’s slightly heavier though so I go back and forth between want vs need.
@@jimbo0411 So let's say you had an X-Bites and a Tequila Baccarat. You wanted something in between to fill that 873 or BC2 roll. Sounds like FMJ is my huckleberry?
For those of us who are lower on the bougie scale, which model in the MB Levante line (or any other line) would you suggest for jigs up to 3/8 ounce, max?
These rods are garbage... at least my luck with them. First rod I ordered broke in shipping. Second one broke on my first hook set about 2 guides down. Reel seat is also extremely uncomfortable in my hands. Save your money, get a NRX or really anything other than this.

AGS BC2 is an amazing rod. LOVE IT.
May be a dumb question but what does BMG stand for? Belt fed machine gun? To fall in line with full metal jacket?
Thanks Ben for helping me decide on the FMG and Zillion combo can’t wait to stick some biggies on it.
How do you like the combo? That’s exactly what I’m planning on running.
I ordered the FMJ and I am looking forward to getting on the water with it. Thanks for the video.
Same

FMJ vs Dark Sleeper I’m down to these two . What’s your take on the two?

This^
Looking forward to you talk about the Mk56. Is it just a TB with 6 more inches?
How does the BMG compare to the Steez BC2?
Just pulled a “made in Vietnam” sticker off my brand spanking new FMJ. Wtf I thought their high end rods were built in Japan?

I gotta get my hands on one and see what they're about. The money I saved building vs buying nrxs maybe I'll treat myself to a locker queen. Lol

Will you guys be getting any of the great hunting rods??? BFS!!!
Would the bmg handle a burrito?
From the way you describe the BMG is sounds like it’s also gonna be sick for buzzjets, I-louds, and even 3/4oz swingheads… I can’t wait for mine! Thanks for convincing me to get one, Ben!
Hey Ben, you had did a video last year for the X-bites rod being a jig rod, how does that rod compare to the FMJ as a jig rod?
Did you guys ever use that FMJ for a frog rod?
Awesome deep dive! Any thoughts on a comparison between the BMG and the 904c MBR?
Curios about this as well. I have a braillist, and a 904c mbr.
For the rating conquest 905 or nrx 904 mbr

How durable are the P5 destroyer rods compared say to NRX+
When will you guys get the triza travel rods back in? Looking at getting a lopros or ageha to match up with exist 2500 from you guys!!
I've thrown very light T-rigs on the madbull and it handles it great. Have you guys tried throwing frogs on these 2 ?
I’m considering the new FMJ. You mentioned that they made the handle longer and I like that. How long is the handle from the trigger to the butt? Thanks.
Hell I throw a 6" magdraft on the Madbull, also a great Deps 145 rod...not kidding lol

How does the BMG do with Carolina rigs?
Ben, is the FMJ more powerful than a NRX+ 873?
Them mega bass rods BMG are any good enough to fish with a 3/4 dark sleeper baits and whopper Poppers
How would the BMG work with Carolina Rigs?
FMJ kinda sounds like an 873CRR 🤷🏽♂️
Watched this video twice and I still can’t make up my mind on which I want to get!! 😫😫
Looking forward to getting both! Excited for them to arrive next week.
The bmj kind of looks like a more powerful brallist!
I think the braillist is the best jig rod. Other than an NRX, but to get all the extra stuff out of the braillist puts it on top.
@@seasgarage i agree i don't have any NRX rods but i love my brallist!
So would the FMJ be a good free rig rod for smallies?
No. X-Bites is a fantastic free rig rod.
Dang so is the x bites obsolete or what
Yea thing is garbage… send it to me I’m sure you don’t want it anymore… 😂😂😂
X-Bites is a killer finesse jig rod and or spinnerbait rod. It also does topwater very well. No it’s not obsolete lol
It’s absolutely killer for finesse jigs and texas rigs imo. It goes where I go.

Perfect pitch
@@Gbang9527 +1 on the Perfect Pitch. It is an incredibly versatile rod as well.
7’5 brailliest or as crazy as it sounds EMTF
Could tossing open water frogs on any of these rods be an option or is there a better option in the p5 lineup, like say, killer code?
I'd also like to know if it'll be good for frogs
Full cork or bust.
And for the budget angler we have…
It’s not a real rod unless it balances on your index finger.
🤣

And thats one thing ill never do is spend 600$ on a rod
