You've got a lot of great ideas, but there are some things you may be overthinking. At these short distances and with these similar calibers, most of the long guns are going to have pretty similar stats. Most of the submachine guns/machine pistols are going to be pretty similar too. I know it's meant to be an interesting game mechanic, but buckshot doesn't even really open up until about what would be the equivalent of 12 to 18 of your spaces or even more sometimes. In those cases, you might have multiple targets attacked, but at a lower likelihood of success than the closer target.
