- Adopt don't shop!!!! I've only had Pebble 4 of her 24 years. You do not need a baby, to form a bond with a parrot!!!! Our last visit with our couch didn't go like I had planned. I was hoping for a full throttle remake. Pebble told me what she thought of that.
This bird has clearly been around some emotionally unstable people...thank God she found a new home
I love the way she moves her head and wing's. She's so dramatic.
poor Pebble must have lived in a home with people who argued a lot. How els would she have learned to talk like that! Good for her, she has a better home now.
Not necessarily, my husband, a computer and in general a geek, is swearing his heart out almost every day, when dealing with for example Microsoft or Google applications. As a matter of fact, I started calling these episodes "Pebble moments". The fact that someone is swearing doesn't mean abuse, that's all I am saying.

As an animal lover, it breaks my heart to think Pebble may have been traumatized by events in the past. Although it is entertaining, her actions, words, mannerism and dialogue suggests she is mimicking what happened in the past and displaying her emotions. She has a great relationship now and seems to enjoy the attention and love. As such, Pebble feels good in expressing her feelings. What an amazing creation!

I can relate Pebble, life is tough. Seriously though, she's a gorgeous looking bird, happy to see she's not a plucker.
(Was just talking to a friend about this video they shared with me and thought I'd share my thoughts?) Having worked with parrots and studying their behavior in-depth, I have a theory that they'll repeat these traumatizing things that've affected them immensely, like their way of telling their story to the person/whoever they trust.
My guess is that Pebbles knows most of the words she's repeating and what their intentions are, which is why she puts the same emphasis on specific words like "fuck" or phrases "what's wrong with you".
She trusts you, you've clearly had immense patience and understanding for this bird, thank you so much for giving her a great chance.

I feel pained at seeing her extreme physical rants. I do not think she knows the words but, whoever did this abuse to her continues the trauma. There must be away to get her to switch or stop this painful exhausting behavior. Please contact big zoos or bird specialists to comment and intervene.
There is one video that shows her running up and down the couch back screaming and trying to hide I am sure that she is reenacting this psycho who taught her this language treated her female owner, that is what I saw, could be wrong, but it was a woman's scream, no doubt.
To be honest, cockatoos are fowl mouthed birds by nature. I've had mine for 24 years, since she was 6 months old. They are passionate birds! Mine does the same thing. She lets you have it! It's fun! They love to put on a good show. Then 20 minutes later, mine snuggles my neck and says nothing but I love you over and over for an hour.

This poor bird must have seen alot. You cant help but to feel sorry for her. I dont know what would of happened to this bird, if Kelly didnt gracefully step in to take care of Pebble. Kelly you are awesome and a angel for giving this bird a nice home and to let her vent. Maybe one day it will stop, with all the love you give her. You are a good man. And Pebble is a beautiful bird, regardless of her potty mouth.

My Mimi With cockatoo’s.... YES! I personally think several people watch her and equate their moral judgments with harm, anger or trauma just because she was taught to cuss by a teenage girl a long time ago. That’s not saying she has not lived in some bad homes/situations or does not get frustrated but you see different types of comments on other videos where cockatoos go on rants or throw little tantrums.

If Pebbles were saying FUCK over and over in this one, which she could have easily done, as opposed to barking you would see a different reaction in the comments. It would be full of people lamenting the sadness of her trauma and anger.

It’s a fairly common occurrence that’s been studied at great length, and in great detail over recent years as we have been seeing more parents arrested and having their children removed because they let their child play in their own yard, without incident, as they washed dishes inside or ... It was a common and perfectly normal thing for a parent to do as I was growing up but it’s seen as abuse and endangerment now. People call 911 because they find it morally wrong (due to irrational hysteria over incredibly rare stranger abductions. Crime was actually a bit higher when I was a kid) and perceive the child to be danger. If the responding officer is a hysterical parent they are likely to make the same incorrect and harsh moral judgement.
Sorry, that was a bit of a sidetrack but it can be applied to several things. Humans often conflate their own subjective moral judgements with harm.
Cockatoos love to spread wings, do neck rolls, stomp around, and be loud at times.

+1 on that. Problem is when you are on a business call and your cockatoo starts dropping the f- bomb and the other person things it's a real person. My neighbor called child protective services on me. They thought I had a kid. I let them in when they showed up. We all had a laugh.
