Can I make a suggestion, I do want Nole to continue playing for at least two years BUT when he's done, can you continue your program despite Nole, Roger & Rafa (3) are done? You can still call it (3) as in the great 3... YOU (GG, AL & JD)? What thinks you?? 👋👌✌

Doctor Joel looks GRREATTT! Thanx Amy, Gill & Joel - good back-and-forth as always-LOVE the Tinker Nole IDENTITY. Think Novak's focus in 2024 is less is more. He wanted to hang in LA & his focus & sharpness were lacking in IW-24 but he gave it a go. After ''23 eoy + '24-start, Djoker needed to do some problem solving - mental, physical etc- So he took time off and got ready for the 2024 prime Target(s) - 1. Olympics 2. peak @ RG-24 on clay (& 4 Olumpics in Paris) then the rest will get sorted-IMO. The rest of it is micro-tea leave reading-IMO. The tennis marriage as Gill so aptly put it hit its expiration date & they kept going until the smell did not agree w/either side-lol :). Think Nenad brings a fresh-new-old-familiar energizing effect on Djoker. Luv Uz Guyz+Gal :) Best, Milan

Annacone focused on Djoker’s R hand tremor looking back on Musetti match. It was rather persistent during sit down. It was hot which Djoker can be sensitive to. But it might be about his R elbow injury. It is unlikely to be early Parkinson’s! Mostly, he seems a bit physically vulnerable.

    • @supermodel2
      @supermodel2 4 месяца назад

Yes I’m surprised they didn’t bring up Novak’s hand tremor as it definitely looked concerning. Then yesterday he had moments against Alex de Minaur where he seem sapped of energy so I wonder if there is a bit of a small health issue there? But of Novak did what Novak always does and he pulled thru and won the match.

To the point Amy makes about “not concerned about the downward trajectory”, I believe the concern is not Novak dipping instead sinner and Alcaraz finding the mental edge that has been missing in many of his recent opponents. And once Novak drops to No. 2 or 3 he is going to run into one of them in semis and one in final which is what federer and nadal started dealing with when Novak was no. 1

Now, I can understand why he let Goran go--you don't go to a press-conference and tell the media that your player is 'difficult to deal with' ("He's a difficult guy.") Obviously, Novak (as anyone would) felt that he should keep private things (true or not) in private--and not talk negatively to the press about the player that he's coaching. I think Goran crossed the line.

Djokovic won in 2013 and 2015, not 2016. He actually lost to Vesely in his first match in 2016. Didn't stop him from winning the French that year though.

    1. I expect Sinner to have one of his BEST years next year but also have a great year this year.

So Amy's response to Djoker 2 losses is that he doesn't Care ....that's not true though,he cares imo to a degree a little bit too much >gives tension ....
we will see ,de Minaur is not clay expert as Joe says it's eastern grip flat shots ....he plays opposite vs Musetti
Agree with Gill on when you don't care it's over
Footwork of Djoker 2024 has been a bit off
    plus lungs and exhausted sometimes
    we will see

Before the Musetti match, if you told me Novak wins in two I would have not foreseen a problem vs de Minaur in the QF.
However, due to Novak often being unable to finish mid court balls with his lack of power, Musetti was able to keep pts alive with awkward lobs and passing shorts.
de Minaur will replicate that and won't throw in the loose errors like Musetti did.
Going to be a test for how Djokovic gets out of long rallies.

Amy was especially brilliant today. (1) Novak doesn’t have anything to prove (he’s won six times) and his only obligation is to himself; (2) “surprising the split didn’t happen earlier” - Goran looked bored in a lot of camera shots - Becker never did; (3) in play coaching was the straw that broke the camel’s back.

Im a hige fan of Novak but he doesnt look like hea enjoyong playing. He is olaying really good but his vibe seems lke hes just playing for the sake of playing. The joy of playing is absent imo. I might be wrong but having watched him for so many years, this is the first time im seeing him play with such lack of emotion.

ND doesn't need a coach, to be honest. So, if a coach comes in, he shud be capable to contributing something valuable. Guys like Becker and Vaida were dropped in the past as they have nothing more to contribute; so no point in getting back either of them. Instead, get a new guy with fresh ideas, something that will expand Novak's repertoire. For example, Roger added better net skills and SABR under Edberg. Something that makes a difference.
So, for example, why not take in IVAN LJUBICCI? He can help Novak see Novak the way Roger (and team) saw Novak, i.e. from the rival's perspective. Such ideas may help Novak a lot in these final years
Novak is too good to be scared of EXPERIMENTATION. His biggest negative right now is his age (and so slow body in comparison to Alcaraz and Sinner) but he is the #1 player right now if we look at tennis technical skill set.
    Makes sense❓

Athlete-coach dynamics in tennis is rare, I give you that. But it is not unique. In pro boxing it is essentially the same: coach is a hired mind, that works for the athlete.

With Novak the only one of the “3” to be still playing, the group has a tendency to deep throat him. This grows tiresome. With Ruud having dispensed with Novak at Monte Carlo, Djokovic has still yet to reach the finals of a tournament this year-when’s the last year we could say that?
