As the owner of Lovers Key Adventures, it’s devastating. We lost everything and almost 17 months post Ian, we are still trying to rebuild, recover and get through it. This video brought tears to my eyes. A big reminder of what we had and what was taken away in one day.
Thank you for this update of such a loved area. It's sad to see the damage & how much is still bare. But there are so many challenges for the entire area. I'm sure more will happen, with time.
You're welcome Deb! I knew what to expect but it was more emotional than I thought it would be to see it in person. Slowly but surely getting back to a new normal.
I knew they were gone but it was still shocking to see only beach down there (and not all that much beach either). But the sand was good and the water, although hot, was nice and not as seaweedy as other beaches right now.@@maumor2
I visited Sanibel for the first time December 2021. Along with everyone I am so sad for the loss. I just got word, my family can come back to Sanibel this December to our friend’s house. Even with the damage, this park still looks beautiful to this VA girl. Thanks for your videos.

I'm so sorry to hear that we love Lovers Key. It was shocking this day I went back to see how vastly different it was.
Thanks for the update. We love that place.
You're welcome! It's one of my favorites!

@@LindsayLola_ I can imagine it had to be really emotional seeing it all in person. Like a thump to the chest.
I have been there a few times riding my bike. It's like a time machine to the time I moved to SWFL almost every man made structure is gone
