Just realising how much Mariah's voice adds to this cast. Something about it just fills out a harmony and on top of that, I feel like they've really hit a sweet spot when it come to their SATB split. Whilst maybe these songs could have been done before now, they might not have been so perfectly executed.
Yes! I especially love her notes in High School is Killing Me. Something so satisfying about it. I think her voice works particularly well for that type of music.
THIS and also incredibly strong voices like Curt and Bryce to further develop the even SATB split along with the higher voices from people like Lauren and Kim!
* Mariah really adds something to the soundtracks of TGWDLM and NPMD that a lot of their other musicals are just missing * I'd say it's cause she's been on Broadway herself, and while that's absolutely improved her for NPMD, she was still just as good beforehand * I think literally every harmony she has in this musical she's stuck in my head, she's an ANGEL I'm so jealous

It says so much about how far Starkid has come that we're hearing these amazing harmonies so much clearer because of a combination of things: -The great singers they've accumulated over the years (and they were pretty damn amazing from the very beginning), -The progression of Jeff's amazing song-writing abilities, -The combo of live footage mixed in with pre-recorded tracks, which is only possible because -They have increased budget to rent out the theater for extra days to shoot themselves lip-syncing to the prerecorded tracks, and their sound budget for the live stuff has made the sound lightyears better even from where they were a few years ago with Black Friday! In summation, Starkid is BACK and Better than Ever!!!
Yes the production quality is just so good! I'll always have a place in my heart for the Michigan days but listening to those shows back to back with Hatchetfield trilogy is wild.

also can any of us truly get enough of hatchettown? i could legit listen to a 10 minute version with more verses and characters, its so dark and the music is so very, they cooked the fucking house d o w n 😩
there’s SOO many GOOD harmonies in npmd and everyone and everything is just SO.WELL.DONE. but we gotta be honest mariah rlly adds SO MUCH to those harmonies, i love her sm and i’m tryna learn her harmonies on every songs but some with the whole ensemble is kinda hard lmao also the if i loved you song + reprise are fucking amazing, joey and mariah’s voices fit SO FUCKING WELL so do jon and lauren’s voices!! love this musical so much already tbh
I dunno what the hell these guys have been stocking up for their voicebanks during their time between Black Friday, Nightmare Time and NPMD but whatever it is I’m all for it and hope to hear more of these amazing vocals in future musicals because it’s clearly working for them (and also would like a bit of what they’re feasting,,) :00

mariah hasn’t been on broadway, she was in the first national tour of mean girls though!

Their older shows were GREAT but NPMD really went all-out with the fantastic compositions.

They were kinda unexpected of a duo for me but Mariah and Joey worked great together! I'm so in awe of her voice.
