Hello Jack, I'm recently retired and live in Mesa ... I am so glad I came across your video (I did like and subscribe). You are keeping it real and are very helpful in my development as a hobbyist photographer. I look forward to reviewing your other material, this was very informative. Thank you.
UMMM WHAT THIS VIDEO WAS INSANELY HELPFUL!!! Literally did not think I would come across something nearly this useful! Thank you so so much for your wisdom!!!
So glad I came across your video! My search was literally "Do I need to BUY LR presets" I'm completely new at navigating LR world. I view them the same way, good starting point but will always need to be tweaked for your own photo. Thank you for validating and saving me $$ I don't have to flush away.
Hi Jack, I use to do wedding photography years ago, back then, there was no digital cameras, I still enjoy taking photos today, also printing my own prints, I had photoshop CS6, I recently subscribed to Adobe, I figured $14.99 a month was nothing for all the latest Photoshop, Light Room, Light Room Classic also a few other programs as well. Thank you for your informative video. Regards Gary, Perth, Western Australia 🇦🇺 😊
Wow. Perfect timing! I was just thinking about buying some presets to try. So glad I found your video and watched it. Thank you!!! You have a new subscriber!
Love it, presets (or LUT packs like the video creator folks push heavily) are not the turn key magic bullet many think it will be. Some can be useful for understanding an editing process when you find a decent one but few are optimal out of the box. One of my many unofficial taskings at work is photography and edits for work related photos and i have maybe 4-5 presets I've developed as my starting framework depending on lighting, subject, etc. I've gotten more mileage from those than half of the preset packs I've tried out now that i actually understand what goes on "under the hood".
Great info I’ve always thought the same thing about presets. They may be a good start to editing your photo but unless you’ve used the exact same settings with the exact same lighting your photo will never look the same. But it could be a good start and then you can tweak. Kind of like the Auto button in Lightroom thank you for this video!! I’ve liked and subscribed due to your honest knowledge ty
presets sales are a stupid scam, i would encourage everyone to get them free on plenty of websites, such a rip off, you are talking proper facts good job man
Great useful video. Appreciate all the tips to find free ones and your willingness to share. I do mainly outdoor sports.. any you recommend specifically for baseball? Thank you! 😊
For sports, I go pretty natural in my look. I'd start with Lightroom's built-in "Color-Natural" preset or one of the sports presets I included in the freebie download I shared.
Jack! Thank you very much. Crear. I was wondering how a preset can address "all photo". Clear: its not possible! You saved me money in just 10 minutes. Muchas gracias!
Hi Jack, I love your channel. I do mainly only sports photography of my grandchildren. What presets would you recommend for this? Most of the grandchildren play baseball.
I prefer a more natural look for sports, but with colors that pop. In lightroom, I created my own presets which now consist of a little bit of dehaze, clarity, and texture. Also, go down to the calibration section and add quite a bit of saturation in the blue primary. For reasons I haven't been able to find an answer to, increasing the blue primary makes all the colors pop without making the skin tones orange or red.
Many thanks for the insights, Jack. Very helpful! Was just considering the purchase of a preset bundle but will now first look into the free alternatives you described. PS: the dropbox link you provided shows an „content has been deleted“ error
Great video - thanks. I have downloaded your presets, but I can not see all of them i Lightroom after I have installed them as showed in another video. LRTEMPLATE-files is installed without any issues (and yes, I did restart Lightroom ... and have many times now ;) ) When I try to install them again, Lightroom tells me that they already has been installed - but is nowhere to be found!
Hi I do not see the link to your free presets after viewing your video. When you say "Here they are right here" and point toward the upper corner of the screen I do not see anything. Can you help me with this? Thank you!
I don’t know what the deal is. I fix it, we’re all good for about a month, and then someone tells me they can’t access it. Cycle repeats. drive.google.com/file/d/1xfEz9dHJJH7RoVpiGrHh1URLBFWb2VCw/view?usp=drivesdk
Some people seem to have a technical issue with this link. I've updated it multiple times, from the same location. I just tried it and it worked fine. Sorry, I'm not sure what to tell you.
Thanks for the video Jack. I am a coaches wife/adopted team mom of our local HS football team and am on the field every Friday and Saturday taking pictures for all of my boys. I always struggle with grainy pics at some point. I use a Canon EOS 800D with a Tamron DI AF 70-200 f/2.8 lens. I have tried multiple times to download your presets to no avail :(. Any suggestions?
Hmm, I'm not sure. I just checked and they are there and set for download for anyone with the link. It's a zip file, so you'll need a way to unzip them, but that should be standard on your computer.
From the menu bar, choose File > Import Develop Profiles & Presets. In the Import dialog that appears, browse to the required path and select profiles or presets that you want to import. Click Import.
Ah, a good honest video, I rarely use presets, why buy other's adjustments? yes, presets are basically adjustments, don't be lazy, learn and do the edit, don't buy presets. They are not magic, they are just adjustments, you can do the magic, so do it folks ; )
From the menu bar, choose File > Import Profiles & Presets. In the Import dialog that appears, browse to the required path and select profiles or presets that you want to import. Click Import.
Yeah I hate presets and their adverts. I mentor a lot of new photographers and the first they want to do is buy a bundle. Which I generally try to discourage. You’re going to end up with hundreds of presets that you have to search for, and your photos won’t instantly look the same as the photos advertised.
@@EightBallEnt. you’d be better off to ask specific questions about concerns you may have, bc idk where you’re at in your journey. But I’d be glad to help!!
I've used free presets in the past. I've taken photos of various events, portraits, reunions, sports events....etc. It does not work on all photos. My advise, learn to use the sliders in Lightroom. Yes, Lightroom is my first go to post production photo editing. Learn all about Lightroom tutorials on RUclips. Do not waste your money on purchasing presets.
