Wow...noticed you accelerated from a stop up to 74 mph in no time! My Ryker just arrived here at the Shop and I’ll be ready to go shortly.so looking forward to it...they brought 10 Rykers in and they all were sold to women!! The salesman mentioned they were all in the 50-65 age group!! Interesting🏍🎉😎 saferiding...love your vlogs 🙌
Thx for the feedback! I haven't posted any Ryker vlog's lately, but I do have a few queued up that need to be edited. The 900 really scoots, that's for sure... it definitely gets up to 80-90 mph really quickly. The roll-on acceleration in the mid-range is what really impresses me... it makes squirting through gaps in traffic or snagging that front spot at a traffic signal really easy. 😉 As for the female demographic on the Ryker's... I'm glad to see it! I think there too few women in the sport and this might be the gateway vehicle to get more involved! It does take a certain mentality and focus to be a successful rider, so I don't recommend it to everyone. However, the Ryker takes most of the intimidating functions of riding out of the equation... no balance necessary (no tip-overs), no seat-to-ground leg length issues to worry about, and no shifting/clutch. The ABS and traction control are just icing on the cake. --QM
My wife is also a Brazilian, at the other hand I'm a Brazilian too so ,😅 we both know about Quebra molas. I'll advise her about the speed bumbs matey 😉
I have a few more Ryker vlogs to edit and post... but sadly, no off-road adventures for it yet. I do plan to take it up into the hill country around Austin, TX sometime soon to ride the twisties and to ride some fire/forest roads. If all goes well with my MAX mount, then I might be able to take my drone to get aerial views and the Fusion 360 for some VR footage. --QM
Thanks! I've been covered up with work the past few weeks, but I will get started on that project again soon. I already have some of the LinQ mounts (male and female) to use for prototyping, so it's just a matter of measuring, cutting, and forming/bending the mounting plate itself. After I can get a working design, I will send the design files to a local sheet metal fabricator to do the fancy stuff... water-jet or laser cutting, etc. I will certainly make some videos on that project and keep everyone updated! --QM
You might have better luck when fueling by filling the tank slower and not topping it off after it clicks. Once I started doing that, I haven't had any overflow or gas spill or odor. Some gas pumps are so fast they tend to blow back. Always appreciate your videos. Paul
Thx for the tip and the feedback! I usually try to keep the nozzle seated as far in as possible and I only run it at the lowest setting. It still seems to percolate fuel up past the nozzle or run out of the overflow onto the pavement... and that's just at the first click of the handle. When it happened in this video, the tank was still only about half full, so I'm not sure what's causing it... might be a blocked vent hose or something. I'll just be more cautious the next few times to see if that helps at all... otherwise, I'll take it to the dealer or dig into it myself. Thx again! --QM
I had the laser alignment done (ROLO) and upgraded the sway bar to the stiffer accessory bar from BRP. Those helped the handling and tracking somewhat, but I still have the wandering issue above 50 mph. I will probably take it back to James Thorne ( www.thornolis.com ) and ask him to set a little more toe-in to see if that helps. If that still doesn't resolve it, then aftermarket control arms or wheel spindles might be the only solution... something that is adjustable to dial in some negative camber. --QM

Thx for the feedback and the question! The CVT transmission in the Ryker doesn't have specific "gears" or ratios. Instead, there are variable-width pulleys that allow a drive belt ride up or down in the pulley depth that dynamically changes the ratio from the input (motor side) to the output (driveshaft side). I have the 900 Ace. Do you find your Riker clunks often when the belt engages upon takeoff? Easing on it helps but it seems to do it a lot.....I’m not really concerned as I know how the mechanism works but yours doesn’t seem to do it? Just curious if maybe an adjustment would make it do it less or is yours just very broken in? What do you have for miles currently?
My Ryker didn't have many miles on it when I recorded this video (probably only ~1100 miles), but now I have ~7000 miles on it. The "Ryker Klunk" is normal and usually very noisy on my bike. I have learned to roll the throttle on/off slowly to avoid the metallic clunk just out of mechanical sympathy... but it isn't supposed to hurt the driveline at all (per the lead Can-Am engineer that I spoke with: ruclips.net/video/bjdmaiRkfMg/видео.html). I switched to the heavier XPS 75W-140 oil in the gearbox and final drive immediately after purchasing the bike, but that didn't seem to make much difference in the noise or driveline lash. The 6000-mile service was just done about 3 weeks ago, and the tech said that everything was clean and healthy! So, we'll see how things work out over time and miles. Cheers! 😉👍 --QM
QuasiMotard thx for the reply man....good to know! Eases my mind.....Kind of surprising though with all the technology that they couldn’t make the transitioning smoother mechanically LOL but hey I love the machine anyway.
@@jackskellington899 Yeah, that has been a common complaint, and it was my first/biggest issue with the Ryker. I've owned a dozen or more shaft-drive bikes over the years, and NONE of them ever made those noises. Usually, those sounds are the beginning of the end for final drive gears! 🤣👍 --QM
Haha, good catch! I fixed that before I got up on the highway. I've noticed that those latches tend to open up randomly when the bag is full... too much tension against the magnets, I think. --QM
Question. I just got my Ryker a few days ago but find it is very easy to get my right foot set on the peg where I’m riding the break. Where is the best place to rest your right foot to keep from riding the break but ready to hit the break when needed?
Howdy, PJ! I tried replying to this message several days ago, but it looks like YT is eating replies again. If you haven't already adjusted the angle of your brake lever, then that's your first stop (pun intended). I had the same problem initially of covering the pedal a bit and I was concerned that the brake lights would be activated constantly (risky in Houston traffic). So, I adjusted mine to where I needed to intentionally use the ball of my foot (almost point my toes) to activate the pedal. So, how are you liking your Ryker so far? Have you put any miles down or taken any trips with it yet? 👍 --QM
QuasiMotard I really like it. No long trips but getting used to how it reacts driving in town. So I think you are telling me that you have your break set just below the peg level. Is that correct?
@@pjfrog10 The brake pedal position will depend on how far forward or back they are placed. When they are far forward, the pedal needs to be higher up because of your leg/ankle position. When you have the pegs further back (or almost under your hips), the the pedant should be lower so you don't rest your toes on it. --QM
Correct! The Ryker has a spring-loaded trap door where the fuel nozzle goes in... much like modern cars. It works well as long as you insert the pump nozzle all the way in before pumping... otherwise, fuel can splash back. I learned that lesson on my first refuel here: ruclips.net/video/uZh605xKd_Y/видео.html . Cheers! 😉👍 --QM
I live in the Western North Carolina mountains. Home of the "Tail of the Dragon". 313 curves in 11 miles. So, we just don't have straight line running here, even on the interstate, mostly. I couldn't imagine pushing my Ryker to 100+ mph. Cudos to your intestinal fortitude, brother. Until mine gets better road manners, I'm going to have to keep it at modest speeds. I think the road grooves in the road are dangerous for many motorcycles to some degree. You certainly get uneasy riding some machines over them. And when your machine doesnt have the best of manners, it makes it even more unnerving.
Yeah, that little stunt was one of those age old questions... bravery or stupidity? It actually didn't handle any better or worse at 102 than it does at 65... about the same amount of wandering regardless of speed above 50-ish mph. I will say that the alignment did wonders for it... now the bars are indexed straight (instead of cocked right about 2.5 degrees), and the constant pull to the right is gone. If I could get the wandering under control, then I would sing it praises all day and night. Until then, I need to be in the right mindset to ride it and not be annoyed... kind of like piloting my Yamaha R1. --QM
@@PatriotNC1 I appreciate your input and feedback on your experience. It helps me to realize that maybe I'm not crazy. So many other owners don't have the alignment issue... even the dealer contends that it's "normal". I wholeheartedly disagree... in all of my years of riding and racing, I've never operated another vehicle that wanders so much... even an old Chevy Impala that I had with worn out ball-joints and sloppy kingpin was more predictable. --QM

Yes, the Can-Am/BRP tank bag is a good accessory for the Ryker. I like the magnetic mounting base that lets it drop down below the fuel filler door... you don't need to physically remove the bag to refuel like you would do with many other motorcycles. My only two complaints about the tank bag are these: 1. The magnetic side latches for the top lid/cover are too weak to stay secured when the bag is over 3/4 loaded. The snaps will pop open and the lid will flap up due to low pressure. I have also had the snaps pop open in high cross winds at freeway speeds (over 70 mph). That means that any loose items you may have in the interior pocket will be vacuumed out onto the highway... that's annoying. 2. The inner zipped pocket opens from the bottom instead of the top, so any loose items you have in there can fall out when you open that compartment. A better design would have included a mesh retainer over the lower half of that area to prevent spill-out. I keep small items in there, including spare GoPro batteries, and they are constantly at risk of falling out whenever I unzip that interior pocket. The last complaint (observation) is that the front window pocket is basically useless for most modern cell phones. None of my phones will fit in that area, so I just don't use it for anything. I have placed parking passes and map information in there a few times, but it's too small/tight to be useful for anything else. However, at only $99 USD, the tank bag is a very reasonably-priced accessory, and I definitely recommend it for the Ryker. I will probably modify bag sometime soon to add the mesh retainer for the interior pocket (to fix complaint #2). I don't know if there is a fix for the weak side magnet catches. Cheers, and good luck with your Ryker! 👍 --QM
Did you purchase the maintenance warranty from the dealer? Or are you doing your own. Just curious. Thanks for making these videos. I have just the 600 :-)
My dealer didn't offer any maintenence warranty, but I did purchase an extended warranty from BRP. I am letting the dealer do the first few oil changes and scheduled maintenance, and then I will take over the routine stuff (e.g. oil changes, etc). I will let the dealer do all the heavy stuff, like checking wheel lug torques, any big mechanical stuff, and that sort of thing... so I don't have to buy the tools for those tasks. Unfortunately, the Ryker uses odd sizes or proprietary tools for most of its maintenance. --QM

I don't know if any aftermarket pads are available yet. I like to upgrade most of my bikes to the EBC Double-H sintered pads because they perform really well and have excellent fade resistance. I know that EBC is working on a fitment for the Ryker, but I don't know if it's available yet. --QM
RUclips seems to be eating my replies lately. I replied to your comment a few days ago, but I don't see it now. Anyway... The 900 ACE and Rally have ride modes that can be activated by pressing and holding the lower-left button on the gauge cluster for 2 seconds. It cycles through Sport, Rally, Eco, and Sport-Off (normal). Cheers! 👍 --QM
Yes, sir! If you have the hand guards, then you can use a traditional throttle friction lock like the Go Cruise as a cheap cruise control. You can watch my how-to hack video on how to do that mod here: ruclips.net/video/KPAomxzdCiE/видео.html . --QM
A three-wheeler is very special in germany. Two wheels in front, one in back = you need a car driver licence. But its only allowed inner Germany. Two wheels in the back, one in front = you need a motorcycle driver licence. In the past, or older made driver licence, it was different. You need a car driver licence for both. Some three wheeler are driving like motorcycle. So I think, it is too dangerous, to allow it with the car driver licence. My daddy drove a three-wheeler to. It was from the brand Messerschmidt. But it has a 250 cc two stroke engine only. But he not needs a car driver licence for it. His simple licence limited up to 250 cc was enough. But no more possible today.
No, unfortunately I have been busy with family and work issues for several weeks. I hope to dig into the Ryker projects again soon. I will be sure to post an update to that hack when I make some progress. --QM
Congrats on the new Rally! I haven't noticed the temp gauge going above the middle bar, even in stopped traffic. The cooling fan kicks on and seems to regulate the temp so the gauge never moves after it has reached operating temperature. If yours is overheating or going above 3/4, then I'd take it back to the dealer to be checked. There have been some reports of low coolant levels and leaky coolant caps on some Rykers. --QM
QuasiMotard yeah we are going to take it in tomorrow when the shop opens. It runs hot almost to the top of the gauge when idle. We have only had it for two days! Thanks and take care
@@jaypaul386 Yeah, that's definitely a problem... probably an air pocket, low coolant level, or faulty radiator fan/thermostat. Let us know how it goes... I'm always trying to keep abreast of the developments in the Ryker community. Best of luck with the return trip to the dealer! --QM
I haven't yet, but that trip is on my list for this year or next for sure! My last trip up there was about 3 years ago to ride about 300 miles of forest and off-road trails through the Ozarks in my Yamaha XT250... that was a great trip. I really look forward to this fall for a few good road trips. --QM
The Ryker decelerates very rapidly when you throttle-down (release the throttle or twist forward). It isn't actually a brake (just engine braking), so the rear brake lights don't illuminate unless you press the brake pedal. The Ryker's rapid off-throttle decel is a perfect case for an intelligent brake light, like the Admore Light Bar (admorelighting.com/product/admore-light-bar-smart-brake-technology-deceleration-safety/). I have one ready to install on the Ryker whenever I can find the time. 😉👍 --QM
The Ryker doesn't have a cruise control option from the factory, but I created/modified my own for the task. I used a Go Cruise 7/8" throttle lock and added an extension to the end of it so it could rest against the handguard (no front brake lever on the Ryker). You can watch my cruise control hack video here: ruclips.net/video/KPAomxzdCiE/видео.html --QM
I have the GoPro Hero 7 Black mounted on a MotoRadds chin mount. The microphone is from a Cardo Scala bluetooth headset that I had laying around, and that's connected to the GoPro USB-C audio adapter. I have a brief setup/hack video on the helmet setup here if you're interested: ruclips.net/video/D_lbmLdenHU/видео.html . Most of the audio magic happens in post production, though... I run everything through Adobe Premiere CC (or Premiere Rush CC) to normalize the audio and remove some of the background noise. I am slowly moving over to a dedicated audio solution with a Zoom H1n recorder and I'm trying out different helmet microphones. There is a nasty audio bug with the GoPro adapter that causes the camera to freeze or not record helmet audio sometimes... it's really annoying. --QM

--QM
Did I see it right, you did not place a fuel cap on the tank. You just close the top without a fuel cap.
--QM
@@QuasiMotard I imagine we'll get the bugs worked out of them, but for now, that floaty front end is annoying.
--QM
QuasiMotard luckily for me here in Ga my Ryker doesn’t wonder around on the road at all got around 2500 miles on it

Hallo! Do you think the tankbag is useful? I am thinking about getting One.
/Jenny
Yes, the Can-Am/BRP tank bag is a good accessory for the Ryker. I like the magnetic mounting base that lets it drop down below the fuel filler door... you don't need to physically remove the bag to refuel like you would do with many other motorcycles. My only two complaints about the tank bag are these:
--QM
How many miles do you get from a full tank
I can usually get ~140-150 miles out of a tank before I start searching for a gas station. The longest range that I've stretched is ~170 miles. You can check my Fuelly stats here if you're interested: www.fuelly.com/motorcycle/can-am/ryker_rally_900/2019/quasimotard/887879. Cheers! 👍 --QM
Where did you get that rear view mirror at?

can you mount a side bag on the left side?
No, unfortunately Can-Am only makes a mount for the right side. Hopefully, the aftermarket will come up with a symmetrical mount that allows for other panniers to be used as well. --QM
What’s with that mirror? I missed a video somewhere

is there aftermarket brake pads available that would perform better then the stock ones?
I don't know if any aftermarket pads are available yet. I like to upgrade most of my bikes to the EBC Double-H sintered pads because they perform really well and have excellent fade resistance. I know that EBC is working on a fitment for the Ryker, but I don't know if it's available yet. --QM
How do you turn on Sports Mode?
RUclips seems to be eating my replies lately. I replied to your comment a few days ago, but I don't see it now. Anyway... The 900 ACE and Rally have ride modes that can be activated by pressing and holding the lower-left button on the gauge cluster for 2 seconds. It cycles through Sport, Rally, Eco, and Sport-Off (normal). Cheers! 👍 --QM
@@QuasiMotard Thanks so much for the info! :)
I was watching a previous video and it looked like you had cruise control. Is that true?
In Sweden to.
Did u ever configure the locking mechanism for the frunk
No, unfortunately I have been busy with family and work issues for several weeks. I hope to dig into the Ryker projects again soon. I will be sure to post an update to that hack when I make some progress. --QM
Just out of curiosity are you in the Frisco area because it looks really fimilar.
Nope... this is in the Katy, TX area. It's all flat land out here... everything looks the same. ;-) --QM
Nice video! I just got my rally editon on Saturday 4/20.
Curious has your coolant gage ever gone above normal?
--QM
Have you came up to fayetteville Arkansas for bikes blues and bbq
I haven't yet, but that trip is on my list for this year or next for sure! My last trip up there was about 3 years ago to ride about 300 miles of forest and off-road trails through the Ozarks in my Yamaha XT250... that was a great trip. Are u twisting forward to slow down
The Ryker decelerates very rapidly when you throttle-down (release the throttle or twist forward). 😉👍 --QM
does it have cruise control
The Ryker doesn't have a cruise control option from the factory, but I created/modified my own for the task. I used a Go Cruise 7/8" throttle lock and added an extension to the end of it so it could rest against the handguard (no front brake lever on the Ryker). You can watch my cruise control hack video here: ruclips.net/video/KPAomxzdCiE/видео.html --QM
What camera and mic are you using
I have the GoPro Hero 7 Black mounted on a MotoRadds chin mount. --QM

For your LED's conversion that you mentioned, go over to slingmods.com for the set they have. Waiting for mine to arrive for installation.
Thx for the link! I saw that kit, but I was a little put off regarding the pictures... they are obviously showing an F3 in their literature and NOT the Ryker. So, the beam pattern and light dispersion could be very different for the Ryker's reflector housing. Let me know how you like yours when you install them, and I might follow your lead. I haven't done the LED conversion on mine yet, so I'm still open to suggestions. --QM
