As a Liverpool fan, what this proved is just how good Messi really was. Absolutely carried that team without Iniesta and xavi. He could do everything on his own. He was the man of the match in that game at Anfield by a country mile and every time he picked up the ball I was scared shitless but also in awe of his talent. It’s the biggest compliment to us that our team were good enough on the day against the one man Messi. The greatest footballer of all time!
He knew how good Liverpool were. Even at 3-0 up after the 1st game, he knew it was far from over. His intelligence and reading of the game is part of what makes him the greatest of all time.
@ElvisOKOCHA-rh2igwhy th penaldoo fan cry bc Messi got a world cup but penaldoo got a penalty . Ronaldo had,Goncalo,Mendes,días,cancelo,Félix,Bruno,vitinha
Messi had stated that he thought Liverpool were very unlucky in the first leg and that the scoreline flattered Barca. If you watch that match he was 100% correct.
Somebody said Messi's a system player, but what Messi did in the 2018/19 season will not be repeated. As a Barca fan, one of our worst Barcelona teams that almost won a treble simply because of Messi and even Ter Stegen, but Messi was obviously him.
Ter Stegen was horrible, even in this game. Ginis shot is central, the first goal he blocked it perfectly for Origi to tap it in. And the 4th goal sleeping alongside the defence. None of that Ter Stegen crap please. If we had Allison and they had Ter Stegen we would have made the final
@HassanIbrahim-h7iplus he didnt even attempt to dive for the third goal and the second goal was shot at the center and he can't reject the ball from going in. Watching that match again this night ter stegen deserves the most blame for the team missing the final. This was one of his worst matches ever...
I don't think true Liverpool fans would ever disrespect Messi, even on nights like that. He's the best that ever kicked a ball. It made our win all the more great because he was there. He showed us great respect after the first game because he knew the score flattered Barcelona. His performances were never in question.
As an ardent Liverpool supporter,I didn’t like what Robertson did to Messi by pushing his head in like that,that was diabolical. Love Robertson but that was out of pocket!
I think we Liverpool fans have a healthy respect for Barcelona generally and Messi in particular. But the fact remains that after Xavi left in 2015, Barcelona never won another CL even with Messi. Iniesta's leaving in 2018 just added to further misery in their series of failed attempts.
@drewbranch7700 Not as bad as cheating. Messi moved the free kick spot at least a dozen ft further from where the 'foul' occurred..... and nobody said anything.
One of the most underrated performances oat. It's insane that people use this performance against him, although Messi vs Liverpool over the 180 mins is objectively one of the best CL semi final performances oat, against one of the best teams in football history.
As a Brazilian, a country known for producing countless football geniuses, I still see Messi as the perfect synthesis of technique, game intelligence, and intuition. Messi plays with the precision of an engineer and the intuition of an artist. He stands as the point of convergence between art and mathematics in football. I love him! He's my GOAT
@ufukkiblat as a Messi fan myself I’d love if he came back. But let’s be realistic. He just wouldn’t be able to keep up. And the game nowadays, at the top level, requires high work ethic. Forwards are required to always put pressure. He still has his magic touch, he just doesn’t have speed or work ethic.
@rah-mown6392 . i s'pose u didnt watch the match that day or sm, cus everytime messi actually DEPENDED on the team, they simply wudnt finish. like bruh, wtf is mans supposed to do then, eh?
It proves that it doesn't matter if you have the best player in history because at the end of the day you need a great all-around team to win big titles. From 2017-2021 Messi had to carry a team that was very average compared to the other big European clubs.
@Hypocrisy.Allergic Not really, Madrid was still pretty strong in those years. I think you saying that cause Pep Barça were absolute demons on that era, so of course Madrid wouldn't shine that much
@MrNjakwa But for this game, what they need is common sense. You're leading. Go park the freaking bus. They don't learn from the year before? Then it's on them.
This was the season that solidified Messi’s goat status, proving beyond doubt that he wasn’t a system player and could do it all on his own. He had everything; dribbling, finishing, long balls, playmaking and set pieces. No Xavi, no Iniesta, no Neymar, a downgraded Suarez and a manager with no tactics. Considering how easy of a final they would’ve had against Tottenham, Messi was quite literally 1 goal away from carrying the worst ever Barcelona team to a treble.
Messi was even by far the best player in the Copa del rey final and his teammates let him down again which should put all of them into eternal shame. I am a firm believer that Barcelona wasted Messi's prime years.
He had all of that for more than a decade before that season. Anyone that needed to see that season to "prove" Messi had all those charactetistics simply didn't watch him ever before.
@patcisz3474 I think that's a bit of an overstatement. Even after the decline that gradually set in after 2015, Barcelona were still successful on a domestic level. Three La Liga titles and four Copa del Reys between 2015/16 and 2020/21 is not awful by any means. A lack of European success was unfortunate but he still won four Champions Leagues with Barcelona and was their best player for three of them An example of a club wasting a players peak years would be Liverpool and Steven Gerrard. After 2006 he only won 1 more trophy with Liverpool and that was the League Cup against Cardiff in 2012
I would love that play him false 9 for a season, that Barcelona team would work like dogs for him just like Argentina do. Then let the man retire with a la Liga
You know what makes Messi the greatest football player - the expectations. If he doesn't score 50 goals per season and carry the whole team through UCL and La Liga - it's a failure season, which for the other would be a dream.
There are teams, world class teams. Liverpool being my favorite team in the Premiere League for as long as I can remember. Just the crowd, the dedication, the love the city has for their team. This means a lot to me in football. And this is why I am selective. But then there is Messi... completely unnatural. A one man army.
Where he went was Miami and made a LOT of people in North America VERY happy! Thank you for sharing the greatest player. I do not ever like to hear the word "best" when speaking of musicans, vocalists, artists and sports stars but Messi - he defies that rule.
A leader without soldiers There is no other explanation for this season, which ended in what could have been a one-man treble, this is my hardest season as a Barca fan, even more than the 2011/2012 season, where we were also supposed to at least win the UCL. There is a cure for this, if Messi takes the 2026 World Cup, it will heal the pain for me (and I'm sure for many other fans) of both 2012 and 2019.🙏🙏
@r.rishikajha1235 On espère qu'il aura une autre CDM pour oublier un temps soit peu ces douleurs atroces. Anfield 2019, est bien une plus grande douleur que le 8-2 contre le Bayern.
lets be for real he got carried in the copa america final and if by the grace of god he wins the 2026 world cup final he would probably not even have any involvement in the win so id hardly call it his own accomplishment
This man has suffered a lot. he gave his best in world cup final 2014, gave his best in Copa america 2015,2016, 2019 and this UCL Semi final match... man has reached his zenith. Today, he has completed football.. what a person, player and career he has had so far..
Messi obviously had great players around him during his career but since the 14/15 treble and towards his final years at Barca he also had some absolute mediocrity around him. PLAYERS: Boateng, Mathieu, Douglas, Sandro Ramirez, Martin Braithwaite, Trincao, Semedo, Raphinha, Junior Firpo, Alcacer, Malcom, Lenglet, Yerry Mina, Digne, Aleix Vidal, Andre Gomes, Munir El Haddadi, Bartra, Denis Suarez, etc. Add the “flop” big name signings to this as well: Griezmann, Coutinho, Dembele. It’s a huge task to compete & win the CL when there’s so many things wrong decisions being made by the board. Messi did everything he could during those years. That’s why that missed Dembele chance hurt him so much. Everyone knew that chance would’ve changed everything.
@patcisz3474 Yeah I remember shouting in my head when he passed the ball back despite having a decent shooting angle. There were other misses but Dembele's was by far the worst lol
I remember staying up late till 3 AM to watch this match.. People around me said it's already over for Liverpool but yet I still watch the match. In the end Liverpool made one of the greatest comeback in history.. I cried with joy that night 😅
Liverpool did not play that game to stop Messi. It was just that Messi was the only Barcelona player that was actually doing anything. The other Barcelona players did not even try; they thought they were already in the final. Barcelona lost that game because they forgot that Liverpool had a team and don't rely on just one player.
@MarcusDobson-m4i “... but still messi striked fear in their team” No. Liverpool players do not fear other players. They show respect and aware of their skills and what they can do. Understand what the word fear means. If Liverpool players feared other players, they would become submissive and not compete. They would become scared and allow a player, such as Messi to dominate and win. Did you think watching that game that both Henderson and Fabinho 'feared' Messi? No, I don't think so. Did Barcelona 'fear' Liverpool on the night? According to the context you are using the word fear, obviously they did not.
@Alden4yes they did! Look at the video, there is always AT LEAST 3 players in front of him, sometimes even 5. What are you on about? They created tactics to stop him so yes, from that point of view they were scared of what he could do.
Best team in the world at the time, came to Anfield and folded, no diss but we had an unfit Origi and Shakiri, but both done us proud. Luv it. Best come back ever in my 54 years of being a Red.
Just my personal opinion, but the greatest Liverpool comeback is still Istanbul for me. Although we were missing Bobby and Mo against Barca, we still had a very good team, whereas the dependency in raw talent between us and Milan in 2005 was huge in most positions. Few believed pre-match that we even had a chance, let alone be capable of overcoming a 0-3 defecit in 45 minutes to go on and win it.
@thanekrios3211i agree. 4 nil vs Barca is our best night at Anfield but Instanbul is something else. That Milan team was full of legends. Cafu, Maldini, Seedorf, Pirlo, Kaka, Shevchenko etc. Best comeback ever
That Milan seemed absolutely unstoppable when Crespo joined that year, to complete a deadly front line. For me it was the biggest UCL night ever for Liverpool, Milan was by far the best team on paper, with Anceloti on the wheel too.
His position is, at that time, a European champion. Is it disrespectful? Yes. But his job was to stop the best player of the game that has ever graced a football pitch. He's just a small lad from Scotland. How can he go up against the most gifted individual player to ever exist and not be made to look a fool? He has to get inside Messi's head. He has to show he isn't scared. He has to disrespect him. What he did was crude, but it was the right thing to do. Football is the beautiful game, but it isn't always pretty. Robertson understands this, because he is a winner, and plays with a winning mentality.
What many people fail to understand is there are only afrw truly phenomenal sportsman , truly marquee, generational talents ever ! As a Liverpool fan watching Messi in this game was poetry - watching Messi loose a game 4-0 was like watching M Jordan loose a basketball playoff or like watching Usian Bolt loose a race , or like watching Hamilton loose a championship in the final race . When I speak about the truly great sportsman, Messi is sitting at a table with the likes of M Ali, babe Ruth , Fangio ,Michael Schumacher, m Jordan , Michael Phelps , m Johnson .
11:57 Actually my favourite moment from the match. While we were timewasting Fabinho just has a stroll to win a free kick. Seeing Fabinho dribbling forward was always one of my favourite spectacles.
Only if Barca capitalized on the 1 on 1’s that they had and would’ve had won the game but unfortunately disaster struck, once Liverpool did what we should’ve done. 😢 I will always remember that night at Anfield. What could’ve been, but now we just have to believe that next year we actually got it. It doesn’t matter what happens and as always Visca Barca 💙❤️
it disgusts me to watch this every time I see it how he was the lone soldier at anfield. I feel terribly sorry for him and at the end when he talked about not giving up was enough to break all of our hearts because even when he got let down so many times he still never gave up on barca. however they gave up on him in the end, and kicked him out.
They’re hardly the local five-a-side team 🤷
I'm LFC fan but I like Barca ❤️🔥❗🤝💙❤️
Just like Gerrard did for a few years.
As soon as Iniesta left his true level was apparent to the whole world. No CL since then.
I hardly remember him in that game😂@muhammadeyssa23648
Barça had ' MESSI' , Liverpool had a team...
But they still lost Messi is king
Liverpool had anfield
That was the conclusion of this video...
@MbekezileNyelula, no, we did not
@MbekezileNyelulawhat😂😂😂😂😂
He knew how good Liverpool were. Even at 3-0 up after the 1st game, he knew it was far from over. His intelligence and reading of the game is part of what makes him the greatest of all time.
😢🎉
@muhammadbunyana335 damn is 😂😂🎉
Cross dominant leftfooted righthanded genius 😅
This game proved again football is a team game
And it’s not because Messi wanted to do everything himself but rather because the other ten did not show up.
thank God they dont have 1 v 1 football
Without 2 main goal scorers,Bobby and Mo Liverpool proved that Unity Is Strength,as its written on one of banners YNWA❤
He was equally bad
@juiced9432no he wasn't if he was then all ronaldo lewa haaland mbappe games are like this
1 vs 11 what a player
But only fabinho was enough to him😂
@Mubin2008-u9d Are we watching the same video
@dwsir2448yeah 😂
'Leader without soldiers'
Soldiers like de Paul, Molina, Butcher Martinez, MC calister
We are talking about barcelona buddy@ElvisOKOCHA-rh2ig
@ElvisOKOCHA-rh2igthis was about Barca
@ElvisOKOCHA-rh2igwhy th penaldoo fan cry bc Messi got a world cup but penaldoo got a penalty . Ronaldo had,Goncalo,Mendes,días,cancelo,Félix,Bruno,vitinha
and same goes with 24/25 barcelona, soldiers without a leader
Messi had stated that he thought Liverpool were very unlucky in the first leg and that the scoreline flattered Barca. If you watch that match he was 100% correct.
I remember the first leg very well. We were well on top and incredibly unlucky. Barcelona were far more clinical on the night.
@fleaflyflowflew The opposite happened at Anfield. Barca couldn't hit a barn door with a banjo that night and Liverpool took their chances ⚽️👌🏼
liverpool was lucky both games... they werent the better team in any of these games
@TheNickwars11Complete bullshit.
@TheNickwars11stfu
Messi 2019 is the definition of a one many army , almost carried a dead barcelona to a treble all by himself
Exactly, best individual campaign in Cl, but will not remembered coz he lost.
@asifm004 yeah couldve been the best individual ucl campaign but sadly got wasted because of dembele's miss
I feel like this one man army term has been said alot but for this season it makes sense
He was a one man army , only he showed up at the anfield game contributed to 60% of barcelona goals that season
@AshirEditz561 dembeles many many misses
Somebody said Messi's a system player, but what Messi did in the 2018/19 season will not be repeated. As a Barca fan, one of our worst Barcelona teams that almost won a treble simply because of Messi and even Ter Stegen, but Messi was obviously him.

😢🎉
@HassanIbrahim-h7i won the ucl, IF it were like tht lma, ya say tht like totty was any problem XDD
@ridoxxx_0030 whole backline's worst collective performance. i forgive em all, but alba, wtf u doin alba 😭
I don't think true Liverpool fans would ever disrespect Messi, even on nights like that. He's the best that ever kicked a ball. It made our win all the more great because he was there. As an ardent Liverpool supporter,I didn’t like what Robertson did to Messi by pushing his head in like that,that was diabolical. Love Robertson but that was out of pocket!
@drewbranch7700That's Robertson for you. Won't change him. 😊
I think we Liverpool fans have a healthy respect for Barcelona generally and Messi in particular. But the fact remains that after Xavi left in 2015, Barcelona never won another CL even with Messi. Iniesta's leaving in 2018 just added to further misery in their series of failed attempts.
@drewbranch7700
Not as bad as cheating. Messi moved the free kick spot at least a dozen ft further from where the 'foul' occurred..... and nobody said anything.
@lyndoncmp5751a little simulation is a part of game
salah did that too right but Robertson was a bit raged I guess
Mane was such a hard working winger . Might be the most underrated Liverpool attacker of all time
One of the most underrated performances oat. It's insane that people use this performance against him, although Messi vs Liverpool over the 180 mins is objectively one of the best CL semi final performances oat, against one of the best teams in football history.
oat?
@6Imp33 of all time
Simply shows you that a team beats an oat
It was not a semifinal... yall are just funny
It was a semi final dont be silly
Gini and Origi underrated please remember them Liverpool fans
I do
We do!
Always..
We all do!
Always!
This game still hurts as a Barca/ Messi fan
Me too brother I don't want to see this video but when I saw Messi name I saw it
As a Brazilian, a country known for producing countless football geniuses, I still see Messi as the perfect synthesis of technique, game intelligence, and intuition. Messi plays with the precision of an engineer and the intuition of an artist. He stands as the point of convergence between art and mathematics in football. I love him! He's my GOAT
Very well put.......I wish I had written that.
Fair play. R9
Sometimes im deeply impressed how football Fans discribe messi....
thank you
"We know what can happen when we go to anfield" that gave me chills🥶
Madrid arrived at Anfield and it got what it deserved.
@DISPATCHTEAM-g5k Why?
The 24/25 season Barcelona were missing a true leader..18/19 messi was missing a team..what if messi could stay..
He could comeback
@ufukkiblatyeah.. I'm hoping for that next winter
@exotixhozardfnadfgshcvmmbz6967 its too late now..
@ZaMoono not everything can be done anytime.. you have to let go..
His a legend messi. But lfc and anfield are legendary...messi knew
1:32 he knew what was in for them in england, that's why he got pissed at dembele
It's amazing how Mane did more defensive work in that game. Dude is a serious hardworker.
This was a one man army season of barca. Messi literally carried the team.
Maybe that’s why they lost, should’ve played as a team 🤷♂️
@rah-mown6392 .
i s'pose u didnt watch the match that day or sm, cus everytime messi actually DEPENDED on the team, they simply wudnt finish. like bruh, wtf is mans supposed to do then, eh?
@rah-mown6392he think is Cristiano Ronaldo...no xavi no iniesta no party we watch football
No goals no assists yet he was brilliant
1:44 that’s because he was very well aware that Barcelona team was trash and he was carrying them
13:53 That same guy went on a ballon d'or winning run 5 years since then
A special historical moment at Anfield . Messi knows. Liverpool-Anfield respect. ❤
Cmon guys he's an unbelievable player..can't blame one player..
It proves that it doesn't matter if you have the best player in history because at the end of the day you need a great all-around team to win big titles. From 2017-2021 Messi had to carry a team that was very average compared to the other big European clubs.
just like ronaldo felt in 2009-2012, then tables have turned.
@Hypocrisy.Allergic Not really, Madrid was still pretty strong in those years. I think you saying that cause Pep Barça were absolute demons on that era, so of course Madrid wouldn't shine that much
Yes it's a team game but more often than not it matters to have a magician like Messi in your team.
@MrNjakwa
But for this game, what they need is common sense. You're leading. Go park the freaking bus.
They don't learn from the year before? Then it's on them.
Correct me, if I am wrong. 2019 was the last time Barcelona reached another semi-final.
THE greatest night of football at Anfield. Every single Liverpool player a legend. Sublime.
Dembele had a genuine 0 out of 10 in a world cup final. Literally the biggest game of his career. This was what Messi was working with.
And yet, he lost
He had all of that for more than a decade before that season. Anyone that needed to see that season to "prove" Messi had all those charactetistics simply didn't watch him ever before.
@patcisz3474 I think that's a bit of an overstatement. Even after the decline that gradually set in after 2015, Barcelona were still successful on a domestic level. CUANDO MESSI SE CARGO A TODO EL EQUIPO, LITERALMENTE JUGÓ EL SOLO
All of these Liverpool players made history and are legends of the club😊
we are winning in 2026 fam ❤
Henderson had one of his best Liverpool performances in this match.
Imagine he had Flick's Barcelona. Those guys will kill for him.
I would love that play him false 9 for a season, that Barcelona team would work like dogs for him just like Argentina do. Then let the man retire with a la Liga
I mean Liverpool didn't have Salah and Firmino on this day
@badge5575but they did have their other players😂😂
😢🎉
Still you can't ever hate Messi. Incredible human being
Bro the last clip messi bit smiled and said "we are going to try one more time".
He refused to give up and yet the board failed to sign quality players.
Messi was everywhere in leg 2. He tried and tried and tried. He had no help.
Beautiful Liverpool with the heart ❤
YNWA
he just isnt maradona
This night still haunts me till this day...
same here brother just watched this video 😢😢 the other 10 were fucking disaster that night
I could watch it over & over again 😂
@paulslavin1465 I watch PSG-Liverpool every other day. The Kop was silent after Doue's penalty. Wonderful stuff. Complete masterclass🤣🤣
@paulslavin1465I can watch Newcastle 2-1 Liverpool and Crystal Palace 3-2 (on pens) Liverpool 😂
Lmao humble yourself you cannot put liverpool and psg in the same sentence it's disrespect to football and liverpool fc.
I cant believe its almost been 7 years since this happened 😮
You know what makes Messi the greatest football player - the expectations.
If he doesn't score 50 goals per season and carry the whole team through UCL and La Liga - it's a failure season, which for the other would be a dream.
😢🎉
So satisfied saw him like that
There are teams, world class teams. Liverpool being my favorite team in the Premiere League for as long as I can remember.
Just the crowd, the dedication, the love the city has for their team. This means a lot to me in football. And this is why I am selective.
But then there is Messi... completely unnatural. A one man army.
Liverpool lowkey were to with Allison
Messi & Co humbled by the power of Anfield💥💥💥💥
The best players in the world that day wore the red of Liverpool ❤❤❤❤😊😅🎉
u can see the body language of messi from the start to end of 2nd leg , he knew about his team and opponents
3:57 One of the rare times Messi played defense
He actually defended a lot during his youth, but yeah, in 2019 it was really rare.
glad to say i watched this game live what a match mighty liverpool in their true form
Where he went was Miami and made a LOT of people in North America VERY happy! Thank you for sharing the greatest player. I do not ever like to hear the word "best" when speaking of musicans, vocalists, artists and sports stars but Messi - he defies that rule.
RIP Diogo Jota (1996-2025) And his brother Andre Silva (2000-2025)
Rip 🥲🥲
He knew that 4TH goal at home matter so much ..he can foresee thing on the pitch that no one else can.. pure genius ..I wanna see Messi coach a team
the wait for gini's goal was unberable. just shows how much of a comeback we made.
HE is everywhere....mashallah
"HE IS A GOD, BUT WHAT IS A GOD TO 11 NON BELIEVERS"
He is no God. Messi is product of human growth hormone
It was the biggest match in Klopp's era.
0:41 That’s what Arsenal were saying before Szoboszlai stepped up 😂
Oof😅
One man army 🪖🪖 messi❤❤❤❤
I'm a Liverpool fan but on that day I said Messi was unstoppable. I give Messi all my respect The Greatest player to ever play football on this planet
2019 messi was a whole attacking midfield unit plus a finisher
A leader without soldiers There is no other explanation for this season, which ended in what could have been a one-man treble, this is my hardest season as a Barca fan, even more than the 2011/2012 season, where we were also supposed to at least win the UCL. There is a cure for this, if Messi takes the 2026 World Cup, it will heal the pain for me (and I'm sure for many other fans) of both 2012 and 2019.🙏🙏
If he wins 2026 wc,Anyone who still thinks pendu is goat is mentally deficit
@r.rishikajha1235 they already are currently mentally deficit if they think so
@r.rishikajha1235 On espère qu'il aura une autre CDM pour oublier un temps soit peu ces douleurs atroces.
Anfield 2019, est bien une plus grande douleur que le 8-2 contre le Bayern.
Not to prove to others but to himself yes to correct the mistakes of his past it would be crazy if he will wins another one🤝@Arachnera_7
lets be for real he got carried in the copa america final and if by the grace of god he wins the 2026 world cup final he would probably not even have any involvement in the win so id hardly call it his own accomplishment
Never ever forget that day . One of the best day of my life . I was on top of the world. YNWA
i went to this game honestly the greatest game of football ive witnessed with my own eyes
The man literally did everything
This man has suffered a lot. he gave his best in world cup final 2014, gave his best in Copa america 2015,2016, 2019 and this UCL Semi final match... man has reached his zenith.
Today, he has completed football.. what a person, player and career he has had so far..
All those 3 goals were in front of the Kop. I've never been so happy in my life.
Messi obviously had great players around him during his career but since the 14/15 treble and towards his final years at Barca he also had some absolute mediocrity around him. Just a few names below:
Managers: Tata Martino, Setien, Koeman.
Vidal passed up a big chance also when he should've taken a shot.
@patcisz3474 Yeah I remember shouting in my head when he passed the ball back despite having a decent shooting angle. There were other misses but Dembele's was by far the worst lol
Raphinha and Dembele are "absolute mediocrity"? Two of the favorites for the Ballon D'or this year are mediocre?
@thanekrios3211Dembele's career is very mediocre.
@patcisz3474 I agree that overall he hasn't lived up to expectations across his career, but still think that describing him as mediocre is a stretch.
The magic man Lionel Messi ❤️
I remember staying up late till 3 AM to watch this match.. People around me said it's already over for Liverpool but yet I still watch the match. In the end Liverpool made one of the greatest comeback in history.. I cried with joy that night 😅
this night still haunts me to this day i really won't forget how sad and in denial i was about everything
He Carried The Worst Barcelona Team to Semi's of UCL which is imo the 2nd best achievement of his career.
😢🎉
Same thing gonna happen to rapha at camp nou now😭😭😭😭😭
It's crazy that at 4:11 Jordi Alba decided to pass it back to Messi instead of goin ahead and score himself he was so free lol
I realized they weren’t all trying to score but always waiting for Messi .
This Liverpool team was a juggernaut. Solid everywhere
R.I.P diogo Jota.
Messi wasn’t even got angry he was still remain calm
Imagine a whole team had to come together to stop a particular player,he is truely magnificent 👏🙌🙌😎😎
Yeah bcos messi was playing gk right lol what a loser fan
Liverpool did not play that game to stop Messi. It was just that Messi was the only Barcelona player that was actually doing anything. The other Barcelona players did not even try; they thought they were already in the final. Barcelona lost that game because they forgot that Liverpool had a team and don't rely on just one player.
@Alden4agreed but still messi striked fear in their team
Messi created so many chances,if they had just scored one
@thanekrios3211 That was Stevie G. picking us up from the dead.
EDIT: I meant "discrepancy" in raw talent between the two sides in my original post, not "dependency". Auto correct doing it's thing.
Messi, the GOAT. Nothing else to say. From a Liverpool supporter
3:23 this is very disrespectful rebertson should know his position
His position is, at that time, a European champion. Is it disrespectful? Yes. But his job was to stop the best player of the game that has ever graced a football pitch. He's just a small lad from Scotland. How can he go up against the most gifted individual player to ever exist and not be made to look a fool? He has to get inside Messi's head. He has to show he isn't scared. He has to disrespect him. What he did was crude, but it was the right thing to do. Football is the beautiful game, but it isn't always pretty. Robertson understands this, because he is a winner, and plays with a winning mentality.
His position is one of the best left backs in the world
He dgaf
Head-touching is disrespectful
@I_am_nobody999best player of the game? why you gotta bring CR7 into this..
This how doing only basic thing consistently make you great
A king without soilders, the fight is legendary thank you messi
King without soldiers like who carried him xavi and iniesta we watch football
@TebogoMothapo-l4y
Still coping from the past 4 years 😭🙏
@TebogoMothapo-l4y u say tht like modric n kroos dont exist, the irony is baffling. we wont talk abt ur "wonder" 3-peat, dw.
❤Lionel Messi is greatest footballing saint
I hate everyone in that team the amount of chances Messi created for them in both legs were enough to make it 6-7 goals but they all did nothing
Bloody hell calm down
@Maskedd.VR1fr bro😂
Alright bro but that was a few damn years ago from now😂
Liverpool could have scored 10 over both games.
@lyndoncmp5751 you looter britishers
Damn. I watched this game. What a heartbreaker.
😢🎉
Rewatching this and only thing in my mind this damn neon kits of barca
11:57 Actually my favourite moment from the match. While we were timewasting Fabinho just has a stroll to win a free kick. Seeing Fabinho dribbling forward was always one of my favourite spectacles.
both sides of semis is pure cinema back then. tottenham vs ajax was a banger too
Never underestimate Anfield, best stadium in the world YNWA
Well said
😂😂
Camp nou is the best in the world
Remember 6-1 brothers
When was that ? In your dreams?@nikhiljanagal491
Messi never Underestimated it.. He himself that before the match that It's not over
Na it's not, Anfield is and our fans blow your's away! @nikhiljanagal491
Messi back is too heavy for all his teammates at that time in anfield.
This was damn competitive
Messi is alien
Messi shown no mercy 😅
No matter how good you are, football is a team game. Messi greatest player of all time
I was in discord with my friends watching this, and we were screaming loud as hell once LIV scored😂😂
To also do this without Salah and Firmino still beggars belief.
What a team
What a club
What a city
❤6❤
dude i love liverpool but i am from argentina so DO NOT DISRESPECT MESSI ASSHOLE!!!
Even as a liverpool fan, this story is sad, especially for Messi.
it disgusts me to watch this every time I see it how he was the lone soldier at anfield. I feel terribly sorry for him and at the end when he talked about not giving up was enough to break all of our hearts because even when he got let down so many times he still never gave up on barca. however they gave up on him in the end, and kicked him out.
😢🎉
I’ll never know how many times I rewatched this game on highlights
