A sobering thought, indeed. It's sad when you get to the end of a director's filmography, but great to look back at the legacy they've left behind! Thanks for watching, Amy.
WOW! So many blu rays!!! Tale of Tales sounds really good, will have to give it a watch! I really enjoyed Mr Turner, not a film for everyone, but def one for me. Christine is such a great horror, watched it loads as a kid, but haven´t seen it for years, that edition looks great. Great update, take care man.
Holy crap man what a haul, so much to take in I dont know where to start lol. Gotta love Black Friday, best time to pick up titles you want but don't want to pay full price for. You picked up a lot of interesting films, I love learning about new companies and movies. I took some notes for stuff to check out soon. Take care
What's the runtime on that Grandmaster release? There are three cuts of it that I'm aware of. I've have the US cut (108 mins) which I believe is the only one available here in the US and the vastly superior Chinese cut (130 mins). And there's an 123 min cut that premiered at the Berlin international film festival. Though I haven't seen that one. I think it's a terrific film going by the Chinese cut. I really wish someone like Criterion would pick it up and make the other versions available in the US. Lots of great stuff in there though. Love Mouchette, Tarkovsky is always really interesting, everything from Mike Leigh is worth seeing really, love that guy. I love listening to him talk about films too. Agree on Stewart in Clouds, I generally like her a lot in the smaller films she makes. 45 Years was just announced as a Criterion release for next year as well, good film. Love Christine, I think it's a really underappreciated Carpenter film, it's shot so well. Love Body Double too. That looks like a rad distribution label. I really have to look into getting a region free bluray player to dive into some of those Masters of Cinema releases.
The back of the box says it is 109 mins approx., likely the same cut as the one you have then. I just saw 45 Years is being released by Criterion; it deserves a spot in the collection! Thanks for watching.
Awesome stuff buddy. Do you import a lot on amazon.com? Cuz i see a lot of blurays in yr shelves that are smaller then the ones i order on amazon.co.uk. UK releases are mostly in those ugly thick bluray cases and i hate it :(
Loving your channel Elliot, you've earned another sub ! By the way, weird question but where did you get your shelves for your collection? Really like the white against the blue of the films. Keep it up bro, you got one hell of a collection :D
Was about to point out you're in for a treat re Easter Promises (can't believe it's 9 years old) Breaking the Waves is the second worse movie ever, fucking awful, I despise it almost as much as I despise Dancer In the Dark (IMO the worst movie ever) The Theatre of Mr & Mrs Kabal however is a masterpiece, though be warned that mood and pacing wise it makes late period Quay Brothers seem like peak period Loony Tunes. The Body Double blu-ray is one of the releases of the year, must get Christine before it sells out. Powerhouse look set to be a new label worth keeping an eye on. No idea what Spotlight is but as it one best picture Oscar I can probably give it a wide birth.
Thanks for watching! Seems fair to say you're not a Lars fan if those two are your least favourite movies ever, haha! Definitely try to get Christine before it sells out!
Dear Elliot, I really like your videos. You have a great knowledge of Cinema. You remind me of myself when i was discovering movies after being possessed only with American films. The hunt for the treasures of hidden masterpieces. Have you seen ( The Hunt starring Mads Mikkelsen directed by Thomas Vinterberg.....A masterpiece of human emotions ). Also I like the fact that you are building your horizon by actually watching the films and not just collecting for the sake of having a library. Have you seen ( The Collector starring Terrence Stamp directed by William Wyler.......I hope you did :) Thank you again for your kind videos and of course the Revenant was the sure winner, but you know the Academy members have other agendas like denying Saving private Ryan the honor of being the greatest WW2 best picture winner. Or not giving Peter O'toole and Richard Burton the Golden Statue for the greatest acting duel in a masterpiece called (BECKET). But at least the legacy remains :) Always grabs the Haul and see u soon :)
A creator's last film is such a scary concept. There's so much pressure on it being good, but rarely can they know in advance that it's the last!
A sobering thought, indeed. It's sad when you get to the end of a director's filmography, but great to look back at the legacy they've left behind! Thanks for watching, Amy.
I'm glad I'm not the only one guilty of hauls this large
Haha! You should start showing them off. I'd love to know about the films you pick up ;)

Thanks, Benn! My pleasure :)
Great pick ups video dude. Enjoy these types of videos, great to share collections! I picked up Victoria earlier this year and thought it was amazing.
Thanks, man! Victoria is a great little gem of a movie. I'm glad you like it too!
Wow, that was a hell of a haul! A lot of interesting sounding films too. Great video man
Thanks for watching, Jack!

I went a bit crazy, didn't I? Thanks, Dr :)

I live in the UK and was wondering where you get your criterions/arrow releases/indicator movies?
I tend to buy from Fopp and HMV, but if a title I want isn't available from them, I buy on Amazon :)

Thank you! No, I rarely import funnily enough. A few UK labels put out films in the thin cases, like BFI, Artificial Eye, and Network :)

Thank you so much! Here's a link; I picked two of these up on Amazon. They are PERFECT for blu-rays :)

Please do a bluray collection vid.
I'm working on the plans for one now!
