Well, you did it. I started making lures because of you. First one was a top water popper and the second is a lipless crank bait. The painting is a bit crude but the popper not only pops, but it walks too. I'm hoping to test the lipless this weekend. I never would have imagined how calming it is. Thank you good sir.
Started watching your channel a couple months ago and have nearly watched every video lol. You've made me find a new hobby, im waiting on a couple more tools to get here and i can get started! Minus a paint gun, I'd like to get the hang of it a little bit before jumping straight into painting. Thank you, keep up the amazing work
Your carving skills are awesome and so are your bait making skills. When I was younger we were lucky to catch some Larry Dahlberg on TV and see some of his bait making tips. This is so many levels above that!
I'm born an raised in FL an I use to love catching these guys in the ditch in front of our house. An when it would flood they would be everywhere right along side the walking cat fish. Ive noticed if you see walking catfish these guys are not far, it's like they hang out together being mostly bottom feeders. Killer vid an you should make a coconut carb lure lol idk what would bite it an it's saltwater but figured you might get a kick out of it lol.
An idea you might want to try is leaving the claw and head part of the bait super bubbly, with the idea of having the claws bouyant so that they float off the bottom while texas rigging. Thanks for the amazing content.
I love standing in my garage at my work bench, drinking beer and watching your vids. Every once in awhile I try to carve a lure. They're terrible but it's fun and relaxing
Your talk of the crawdad tank brought back some memories. I had one once and I kept fish in with it like you mentioned. One day the crayfish caught a fish and started eating him tail first. The fish managed to escape and survive with no tail for a few months until it grew back
Really cool bait! You could perhaps introduce air or something buoyant on purpose in the head/claws to make it stand up from the bottom (and give it a slower gliding drop)?
Nate I have to say that out of all your videos was for me the most satisfying! What a great bait to use in salt water as well as fresh water I can see so many fish having a pop at it. Thanks I just wish I had the manual dexterity to be able to make something like that a true bait of beauty with some of the colour combinations you poured .
you gave me inspiration a few years ago to start making my own baits as I myself love fishing, so I got the idea to make fishing better to catch fish on baits I made myself .. and now I love fishing more than anything else! i saw a video from Fowler's Makery and Mischief channel and thought it was really cool to see you and he make a survival video together where you show him tips and he shows you :)
Hey you should make a similar bait but of a Eurypterid, aka sea scorpion! I would love to see that!! The crawfish came out pretty awesome, but then again most of your baits come out good because of your keen eye for detail. Keep up the good work
Great video. Love the channel, extremely entertaining content. I've been wondering if it would be possible to make a lure body out of only super glue n baking soda? Maybe somehow make a block of the stuff and then carve out the body.
*Has awesome carving tools* Watches in horror as he uses a box cutter to carve the bait. I love this place. My kind of "safety third". Plus he listens to Jordan!! Man after my own heart. We should all pitch in and buy Marlin some beer.
I remember looking in soda cans and old cans in little fresh streams/cricks as a really young kid. We never did anything with them but would look for them. Someday I think I would love to try some in gumbo!
Crawdads are incredibly smart critters. I have kept them as pets on and off for years and if theres a hole in the lid they will find it and get out 100% of the time eventually. They are awesome pets but you have to use the air tight tank lids and just dremel or cut out the spots for the wires and keep it tight tolerances so they stay put. One time i went to take my filter cartridges out to clean them and i reached in to grab the filter and bam i got pinched, it was scary and unexpected haha they do prefer a bigger floor plan tank otherwise they will fight a lot if theres more than 1 or 2 per sq ft.
They call them Yabbies' in Australia. (See Robbie fishing channel ) on RUclips. You can also check out Jeremy Wade catching giant crayfish in Tasmania.
I'm enjoying your videos sir. Especially like how you dwell when you're flipping the pincers or the whiskers or what have you. I do that all the time. I'm not doing any kind of custom pores at all but I think I will soon.
Dude ...you might want to tie a string or get a key holder for your chuck key ... Using it over an open bucket of silicone may result in a messy search for the adjustment chuck key ... You are a true artist ...keep up the great work ! Love watching your processes .....
Awesome craw there. Like the way you jointed the tail to the body. Definitely a more natural movement. Thanks to you, this is a good thing, I'm going to start fishing again after 10 years. Thank you Sir. I do have a challenge for you. Have you ever tried to make a bait from pallet wood? I know pallets come in poplar, oak and pine for the 3 most common ones out there. Seems like it could be a ok source of free wood and getting some upcycling done in the process.
WE NEED MORE REALISTIC PAINTINGS!!! Like the ThreadFin Shad, Walleye, and the Smallmouth and Catfish from last winter!!!! Watching you paint, along with the associated commentary, is the best part of your videos...... And..... MAKE A DARTER MINNOW LURE! Red White and Blue!
Awesome looking crawdad. My biggest fish last year were caught on a crawdad imitations. I really wish you would sell some of your baits. I would love to fish one of those. Yes I am anxious for spring. For a to of reasons. The biggest one is I HATE WINTER!! Plus I don't ice fish. SO I am stuck watching videos and cleaning my reels getting ready.
Us australians call them yabbies , we grow up catching them on string and a piece of meat . Great video good to see you back again .
I thought crawdad was a silly name but yabbies? What do you call firefly's?
California kid here. I did the same. I would use string and ham.
Na we use like liver heart because it bleeds a lot but ham should work to
This sounds a lot better than trying to catch ‘em by hand like I did coming up lol

Always a good day when marling baits uploads!!

Haha that will be the end of any budgeting you had, trust me my friend I have been there🤑

Glad to see somebody else who appreciates the fine fragrance of a burning-out drill motor
I like the little educational lecture you give to fill us in on all the interesting info about the animal your working on
I love standing in my garage at my work bench, drinking beer and watching your vids. Every once in awhile I try to carve a lure. They're terrible but it's fun and relaxing

Once again, I sat through the video being in awe of your skill and talent. You make beautiful baits.
I’ve been watching since late 2018, it’s amazing to see you at 500k subs, so cool, you deserve it and more
Really cool bait! You could perhaps introduce air or something buoyant on purpose in the head/claws to make it stand up from the bottom (and give it a slower gliding drop)?
I heard Jordon Peterson in the background! Always good to see other people hearing him, amazing guy.

Wow the action on it is incredible
Yesss you sir are the future of bait making
You are quite the master-baiter; and artist you are a natural!!
Good to see Chip back in a vid.
Watching you pour those molds reminds me of playing with the neighbor's Mattel Thingmaker when I was a kid.

That is just an insanely impressive carving. Wow.
Love that crooked river!!!
Great video. Love the channel, extremely entertaining content. I've been wondering if it would be possible to make a lure body out of only super glue n baking soda? Maybe somehow make a block of the stuff and then carve out the body.
Another great build and video, Marlin!!
I’ve been waiting for 3 weeks a upload yes thank you marlin
*Has awesome carving tools* Watches in horror as he uses a box cutter to carve the bait. I love this place. My kind of "safety third". Plus he listens to Jordan!! Man after my own heart. We should all pitch in and buy Marlin some beer.
Those will catch both large and smallmouth - very good looking bait! Nice job - excited to see it in action!
This is amazing. Great Job sir! Love it!
Good to see a new upload 🙂 and the crawdad looks awsome in all colors 😉
Crawdad/ camel spider, I love it!
Pretty cool...need a black and blue one!
I remember looking in soda cans and old cans in little fresh streams/cricks as a really young kid. We never did anything with them but would look for them. Someday I think I would love to try some in gumbo!
Funny enough, your first color selection is very close to a molted crayfish and fish love it.
theres something really satisfying about openpoor...damn bait asmr
Been waiting for this one!!
Get this to Epic ASAP, so perfect.

Huge fan of the fun facts while you carved that yabbie.
I like the mini tour of your armory in this vid.

They call them Yabbies' in Australia. (See Robbie fishing channel ) on RUclips. You can also check out Jeremy Wade catching giant crayfish in Tasmania.
That was my 1st guess. That's fair dinkum
Incredible as always ,
I’m 100% on board with you have a fish tank in the shop! Plus it could save you time from filling up the bathtub 😂
My nephew used to call them “clawbsters”. We love it, so now we do too.
In Louisiana we call em crawfish and we do the best boils✨❤️
Absolutely AMAZING
Saw this on your insta story and immediately wanted to try these in the ocean in california.
Incredible carving, as usual!
Love the videos bub, keep up the good work, making me want to get back into fishing more
I'm enjoying your videos sir. Especially like how you dwell when you're flipping the pincers or the whiskers or what have you. I do that all the time. I'm not doing any kind of custom pores at all but I think I will soon.

Awesome bait always wondered if a big crawdad would work like the size of big swim baits
Nothing like marlin baits n fun facts..
Make a super realistic shrimp next!
Awesome looking crawdad. My biggest fish last year were caught on a crawdad imitations. I really wish you would sell some of your baits. I would love to fish one of those. I’ve gotta know, just because I carry a razor blade daily and know how quickly they dull, how often are you changing the blade in that delphin03?
The type of videos you dont spam-clicks in the right side of your phone, at marling baits videos you watch every second
