Great job mate.i made my daughter a baby changing unit in exactly the same way. Dunno why so many people don't like working with mdf.i think it's a great material. As long as you don't mind a bit of dust.or should I call it man glitter?👍
Very nice Karl. Simple and Elegant. I’m watching this while I’m in the Bath and eating chocolate. Don’t know why I felt the need to say that but there you go. It does lead nicely onto the subject of Grouting though. You did a good job. When you’re next in the Swindon area……….. Cheers 👍🏾
Nice little build, looks very nice, not sure about the tiles but if thats what someone wants so be it. Just one little question have you lost the guard for your table saw? as you know in the UK, HSE states it should be as close as possible to the work being cut. Just an observation.
Hi Gary cheers mate, No I've not lost my crown guard I fit it when I have students in learning however when I'm in the workshop on my own I don't use it much, the law is it only has to be fitted if you have employee's which I don't, if your a loan trader you can push the workpiece through the blade with you tongue and hse wouldn't care, however I wouldn't recommend this practice 😉
@@karlpopewoodcraft Hi Karl, not wanting to call people out over the guard; it's just one of my pet hates seeing the guard removed to make cuts. As an instructor at my local college and with over 40 years in industry I just do not wish to see people with no experience watch a RUclips vid and think thats the correct way to use a table saw. I know in the USA they just take it off as soon as they buy it, but I always say if it wasn't meant to be used why do the manufactures supply one? Also some say they remove it to make different cuts; again they should ask themselves if I need to remove the guard to make a cut should I be doing it?👍
do you put any clearcoat on the painted mdf? if yes then what kind? if not then why not :) ? I worked a bit with mdf and imo its a nightmare to finish up hence i am asking :) (also if you could link the paint you used here)
I always use mrmdf as this paints better and would only add a clear coat it the unit was going into a moist environment. I don't really have any issues with painting the end grain. I do have a video on how I do this in my back catalogue. I just buy the best quality paint I can afford never anything cheap.
I use both these depending on time, one is water based take hours to dry but cheaper and not has messy then a two part version thar drys in five mins, a little harder to sand and more expensive but drys rock hard.
Great build, you make it so easy to follow, thank you.
Cheers Stephen 😀
You never fail to impress me Karl, regards, Fred
Thanks Fred 😀 😊
Nice and easy to follow Karl. Top job. Tony
Thank you Tony 😊
Just goes to show you don't need to over-complicate things for a great looking result.
Exactly mate 👍
