After this Battle, A Very Angry and Frustrated Akagi and Zuikaku turned South on their way from the Hawaiian Islands, much like in the Actual History books, and Headed for Wake Island. Most of this part of the Pacific stayed true to the Actual History.
On December 23rd, Akagi and Zuikaku launched Air strikes in Preparation for the Second Assault on the Island. This was in Combination with a Mix of 30 Mitsubishi G3M2 "Nell" Bombers and about 12 or so Kawanishi H6K2 "Mavis" Flying Boats flying from the Marshall Islands and (as was historically) Successful in Capturing the Island from Eagle Union. Akagi and Zuikaku, Still Frustrated at the Losses they took, Used the Opportunity to Release it on the Defending Marines and Civilian Contractors on the Island while still supporting the Landing Forces. 2 ships of the Minekaze-class Destroyers that were Converted into Gunboats Beached Themselves onto the southern Edge of the Island cutting off Reinforcements and Communications between Peacock Point and Battery A landing about 1,600 Special Naval Landing Forces Troops ashore while More Troops came in on Peacock Point by Daihatsu Landing Craft from 2 Mutsuki-class Destroyers. The Aircraft from Akagi and Zuikaku strafed and Bombed Most of the Defenders in the Only Strike that they had Launched as they still had to get back to the Sakura Home Islands, But Suffice it to say that they had caused Most of the Casualties overall. Most of the Marines were gunned Down as were the Civilian Contractors.
Those that Survived were taken back to China to work on the Burma Railroad, but the Surviving Contractors were pressed into Slave Labor Repairing as much of the Facilities as they could while Replacing Buildings Entirely in some areas. 98 would be left before they were all Executed by the Sakura Garrison troops with their Backs towards them and the Sakura Troops also Blindfolding them before Gunning them Down. One had escaped only to be found inscribing what happened on a Rock that read "98 US PW 5-10-43". He was Beheaded upon discovery and the Other 97 Bodies were Dug up and the Sakura Garrison saw that he had escaped the Execution, so they then Buried the Bodies again. For further Details, Check out the Article on The Battle of Wake Island under Japanese Occupation, and you'll also see that the Sakura Troops soon had to Fish, Garden, Raise Sooty Terns like Chickens and Hunted Polynesian Rats for Meat and even Hunted the Local Wake Island Rail to Extinction to try and Survive.
