    No out-of-state taxpayer shouldn’t be playing for California train rail. If I don’t live there, none of my tax money should be going to it. It should only be tax dollars from California only not even federal funding.

      Highways and airports are funded with federal money, why not high speed rail? California is still a net payer of federal taxes anyway.

      @@kibashisiyoto6771 because if you do not live in that state your federal tax dollars or state taxes should not go to anything that funds another state project. And I’m sure California does not pay the most in federal funding since y’all can’t even keep a business in that state anymore.

      @@BustinRootz California's top 1% alone pays 16% of federal income taxes collected. If California was a separate country, it's GDP would rank it as #5 in size of the economy. I think that tells a lot about the veracity of your claims. The state is a net sender of dollars to Washington, as compared to states that are net receivers. Nobody is expecting state tax dollars from another state like Illinois be used towards high speed rail

    Wasn’t several billion $$$ already given to CA to develop a high speed rail…??? Not a section of track was ever laid and the money disappeared in so called consulting fees.
    Fool me once shame on you.

    • @kibashisiyoto6771
      @kibashisiyoto6771 3 месяца назад

      Yes, there has been an "overconsulting" problem on this project, mostly because something like this has never been built in the US. The work done so far has been to develop the right of way, separate grade crossings, relocate utilities where needed, and construct major structures. The part between Merced and Bakersfield will be ready for laying track soon, a process that can go fairly quickly now that the roadbed has be prepped.

    • @danielcarroll3358
      @danielcarroll3358 3 месяца назад +1

      Ever watch a freeway being built? The road surface is the last thing laid. Next year 171 miles of track will be laid. Why not before? Because all the law suits had to be settled. All the land had to be purchased. All the environmental clearances had to be done. All the utilities had to be moved. Miles of replacement freeway had to be built to free a path. Tens of overpasses had to be built. Rivers had to be bridged. Canals had to be moved. And then there were the small delays like waiting on construction because the flooding of the former Lake Tulare meant that a few roads couldn't be closed as the alternates were flooded. Patience my man, assuming you are one. The bots are plentiful these days. Just check out any political site!

    High-speed rail works in small countries. I've used it in Japan and Europe. California is proof it doesn't work in the US.

      In the Northeast corridor in the US, despite only having speeds topping out at 125 for most of it, Amtrak has a 68% share of the air/rail market.
