Our 3 favorite is rice and a butter/fried eggs then we love baked potatoes with any meat or just by it self and our 3 is fideo with potatoes and ground beef with 1 can of corn in it and mac and cheese with broccoli in it!! Love these ideas cant wait to try some this week
My husband mixes equal parts Italian Dressing and BBQ sauce as his marinade! Comes out delicious! And our favorite meatloaf is an Italian Meatloaf that uses ground turkey, Italian sausage, Italian seasonings, Italian cheeses, and marinara sauce! It is so delicious and so flavorful! It is my go to recipe for meatloaf! I make two and freeze into portions for my family.
I was just looking around and there you were! I’m really happy I found you. I’m going to go through your videos so don’t think I’m stalking you. I’m harmless
Oh my goodness your husband and family are so super lucky to have you.....you are a truly amazing cook. I'm 72 now and retired and love love watching your videos. When I had my family I always cooked but never the amazing things that you have thought of. I sewed for my family and my husband and that really helped with the budget. I'm happy that your kids are great eaters.....my kids were never picky and that was a win win for me. Thanks again for all your hard work. ..know that we appreciate you! Love from Debbie and Dexter-Dog the amazing Chihuahua companion.🙏😄
Aw thanks Debbie and Dexter! Sewing is a lost art I wish I knew more about 🙏 I try to remind myself there’s only so much time in the day anyway so it’s best to use my passions and my strengths to take care of my family.
My guys rate new recipes by Once a Week, Once a Month, Once a Year and Never Again! I know I have a hit when someone says "how about for breakfast tomorrow?"
I love your videos. I have a family of three and you are really helping me stay on budget. I love how you take out the complexity of cooking. You keep it real I love it.
We add a can of Ranch Style Beans to our taco meat to stretch it and it tastes amazing! I don’t drain it and then add just a little water instead of the full amount. It makes it thick and rich and more filling. 😋😋😋
I find that block cheese last longer in my deli drawer, shredded cheese seems to either get dry or turn green and either way gets thrown to the chickens. You often. mention onion powder, just a tip granulated onion is better than onion powder.
Great video and meals. I like to make Breakfast Burritos so easy to make and having them already made is a nice start to the day. I too shop at Shaws in addition to several other stores. Last time they had Ground Turkey on sale one pound packages for $2.97 I bought 3 . Two days later I decided to get another package & stumbled upon a managers special on 2 LB all beef BUBBA BURGERS $16.99 value reduced to $2.99 for quick sale and within expiration date ! I bought the last five boxes !
Hey 👋 Maria great job and I make a TV dinner type meal by freezing ALL my leftovers 😊 in plastic meal prep containers... using den 4 lunch or dinner weekdays, THNX AGAIN GOODDAY ✨ 🙂 👋
I barely buy the fresh white onions anymore maybe if it’s for one meal once in awhile. But I just buy the frozen chopped white onions. Super easy and cheap too. Walmart has the bag for less than $1 😃
I like to put my chicken in a zip lock bag with marinade before freezing. This way it marinades while defrosting. I love making quesadillas but I don't use any fat in the pan. No extra calories
If you put the white part of scallions in water, they will regrow. Call me frugal 🤷♀️. I rarely see anyone doing meatloaf anymore but I just love it. Thanks for the reminder.
Since you’re used to editing, I suggest you take pictures of your sons with their top ten favorites and make a collage for each of them. Then they will have visuals to help them tell you what they would like for dinner. If you are thinking of teaching them to cook.. Make each recipe with pictures of the ingredients (like on the back of cookie or cake mixes) with the measuring cup/spoon they would use with each ingredient. Makes learning to cook easy peasy fun for you and them. Great way to reinforce school math skills at home.
These recipes are good but, I don't think that they are tight enough for my budget. It's what we normally eat, taco's are expensive with all that specialty stuff you have to buy. Wolf pit is a utube channel that has really tight budget meals. If you took 2 of those thighs and made broth and noodles homemade that would be budget meals. With the price of meat going up I can only afford to have 1 meal per week that a person gets their own separate meat. The rest of the week is using small 1 to 2 cups of meat per meal. Thanks for the video, I will continue to watch to come up with ideas.
One of our favorite budget meals is fried rice. Typically, we make it with whatever protein and leftover rice we have around. Sometimes it's ham and pineapple fried rice. Sometimes Cajun sausage fried rice. I keep celery, onion, carrot and bell pepper on hand so i am still getting veggies into the kids and not just rice.
I sometimes buy at Aldi when they have a 5lb tube on sale for around $8. I then portion it and freeze it. But mostly, I have a local store called Shaws that has amazing sales. I specifically wait for the sakes there and freeze the meat. I also buy meat on manager special anywhere I can when it’s that price. I just grabbed 4lbs at 2.50 each the other day. They were sell by the next day but I don’t care because I froze them anyway. I don’t care what % it is, fat is flavor 😀
AWWWWW...Julian is ADORABLE!!! Just had to say that before I watch this video...I'm listening as I clean my pantry out...lol...thanks for keeping me company!❤

Tacos are a family fav of ours too. I do taco bake (taco meat, corn, tomato sauce with corn bread mix over top) and Mexican pizza. Both are so easy to make and very budget friendly. Oats for meatloaf is a great replacement if you have anyone with gluten issue. (Thought that was mentioned in another video).
What a fun video! A budget meal for us is frying up ham or ham deli meat, putting it on toast and topping with pork and beans. So so good! We eat it with a fork and knife.
Loved this video and gave it a like. I’ve had each of these meals starting from childhood. My kids also loved these meals because they could easily see what they were eating, one of the three was food anxious. All I did differently was add a green salad with some of the meals. I’m really hungry now!
You make cooking look so easy. I have a lot of go to recipes that I use. I love to find out what other people cook for go to meals. Thank you for sharing and as always take care!!
I like the idea of a top 5 budget meals list to go to. One top dish is fried rice for us. Leftovers RICE and bits of one or more veg like broccoli, CAULIFLOWER STEMS, carrots, peppers or CABBAGES , leek, onion of some type, bit of leftover chicken or bacon if its is in the fridge or vegetarian with a couple of EGGS 🥚. Salt 🧂😍 or soysause as flavoring. Ad a spoonful of PENUTBUTTER 🥜for changes of taste or substitute meat. Its delicious and soooo cheap😉
@@MealsWithMaria maybe they love it in the future, meanwhile make some for yourself for two nights and something easy for the kids for two nights😉 wins for everyone 😅.

Do you have any tips for taking the strong smell and taste out of onions?? I can never save an onion because the smell kills us. As always, amazing ideas.
Put them on the open/ sliced side in a bowl ( no plastic containers) , and keep cutting slices of that side so you keep a dome on all times. Works for apple too
I store mine in an old jam jar in the fridge, lid on. A wide mouth jar works great (like a Bonne Maman jar or even a Mason jar). Works for a cut tomato too. Stays fresh for several days.
A few years ago, my son found the cutest onion shaped container at our thrift store. He filled it with candy and gave it to me as a Christmas gift. I wondered what the onion container was really for - it is for storing onions in the fridge. NO smell at all, unlike when I store them in plastic bags. If I forget and leave that last piece of onion in there too long, I wash the container, then put dry coffee grounds in, close it, and let it sit for a few days. The rotten onion smell is gone! Great addition to my kitchen gadgets.
@@DebbiHobbs I’m sad to hear you waste coffee grounds 😂 just kidding. With the supply chain issues our coffee grounds prices have been higher, even when on sale. Great tip tho thanks!!
I love those taco plates. Room for rice and refried beans. Do you remember where you purchased them from? Taco Tuesday rules in this house in whatever form we feel like. 🥰🥰
I love watching your videos and this is a great idea to actually rank budget meals. My sister loves tacos/loaded nachos, but my favorite would have to be lasagna. I would love any tips on how I could possibly bring down the price on that if you can 🖤👍🏾
I think the #1 thing with lasagna is buying the ingredients on sale. You can go meatless but I definitely prefer ground beef or sausage. Try to find that on sale for $2 or less. Same with lasagna noodles, ricotta, mozzarella, and Parmesan. Luckily all of those items have a pretty long shelf life or can be frozen. So if you’re a lasagna lover, try to buy lasagna ingredients when they are on sale and one lucky day you’ll have all the ingredients stocked up and ready to go!
