He had a bad season this year and last and has plateaued a bit. Managing madrid did a expose on Davies comparing him to Marcelo, even though he is world class, and 95th percentile in almost every stat as a Lb he is still a step below Marcelo. We want a Marcelo replacement. What Davies does have going is that he can play in CM and LW as well. He is to Marcelo what vini is to neymar. A bit more direct and fewer touches but still high quality and could if he wanted to. He just needs refinement and having a great coach, Madrid’s culture, competition and young world class peers will bring that out of him or else he crumbles.

Methinks too much is made about Real Madrid. There are other great teams with wonderful pedigree and their players are not second class to Real players. It also makes it sound that other Canadian players are not capable of greatness. Alphonso is very good but so are others..
