3:13 no, Gibby, but his song directly referencing Jesus is off of this album too. That would be Of Prometheus And The Crucifix and i think that YOU would enjoy the different feel it has than you might be used to from them. Hell, if i could afford it, I'd patreon request the rest of the album you haven't done
And it alludes to Christ as well, showing him as a similar character to Prometheus. He was crucified on a mountain but not put up on a crucifix. Prometheus wasn't lashed on the public square, has no connection to blood (drink of the blood), and never wore a crown of thorns or was put up on "deathly boards".
Of Prometheus and The Crucifix is more about the two stories, prometheus, and the crucifix being about Jesus, Throes of Perdition is more about Prometheus, a titan known for tricking zeus. As punishment for returning fire to man, zeus nailed Prometheus to a mountain, and had an eagle feast on his liver, which replenished itself daily, thus being his own personal purgatory, or Perdition.
Please react to the entire Shogun album, Gibby. I absolutely guarantee every song on it will be hype af for you. This song is one of the more commercial tracks, but it's actually an extremely complex album. Start with Kirisute Gomen and I swear everything after will hook you.
Ahhh, this is the song that started my Trivium journey back in 2009. And tbh, this is my favorite song by them, not “In Waves” like most fans. Also, breakdown in this song starts at 5:18 in your video. Usually, breakdown is the heaviest part of the songs, with heavily accented drums and more aggressive vocals. It’s very easy to understand when the breakdown begins by the tempo change, the song becomes slower. And what’s unique about this song in particular - it has both a breakdown and a solo, usually it’s either one of these.
The special thing about the whole record is that every song has both breakdowns and solos. Sometimes multiple breakdowns and solos. That's why Trivium are the kings of Metalcore.
It's strange to think In Waves is a favorite song for most people. It's just "dun dun dun IIIIIIINNNNN WAAAAAAAAVVVVEEEESS" and then "hmuna hmuna huh nuh huh IN WAVES IN WAVES" and a little bit of *leedily leedily leedle lee*. Trivium didn't go absolutely disrespectful with their high caliber of shred metal on the first 4 albums for a djenting song to wow everyone. 😫
Btw. This whole album is based upon mythology. So sorry, I don't think it's jesus lol. Well... But no lol. I think its supposed to be Prometheus. Though I could be wrong. You really need to hear Torn Between Scylla and Charybdis. That track is Trivium's best musical writing. I'm right, you know it, fight me.
In theory, it's Prometheus. In my theory, the two characters are the man from the cover of Megadeth's Countdown to Extinction and Lady Justice from Metallica's ...And Justice for All. Obviously, the 2nd one is right and she is Justitia, or Dike in Greek mythology, but there hasn't really been clarification on who the man is, to my knowledge. The only two songs on the album that really address Christianity are Insurrection, which is about Satan launching an assault on Heaven, and Of Prometheus and the Crucifix, which draws parallels from the two belief systems to create a metaphor for people being mad about The Crusade not sounding like Ascendancy.
@@chrismeadows4216 yeah I knew of Prometheus being a song title on the album which is why I thought maybe it was him in the video. Though, his situation is slightly different than what we see, it could be a metaphor of Prometheus who was trapped by zeus to forever suffer for gaining knowledge, to break free from his chains. Though it's just a thought of mine. And yeah, I was gonna add that there is technically one song about Christianity, but figured it wasn't worth mentioning. Though, I wonder what his thoughts would be about the song. Though his best bet would be hearing the entire album lol.
All good. The album is kinda nonlinear and I'm not sure why Trivium didn't stick to just one theme, because Samurai culture and atomic warfare and religion and Greek mythology don't blend well on paper, but the album is so awesome. I'm sure Gibby would dig every song.
This was before new bassist and drummer. Actually Matt wasn’t even the first singer. Cory is the one and true original band member. Matt started in the band at 19.
This entire album, Shogun, is breathtaking. It has aged very well.
“Down From the Sky” by Trivium if you haven’t heard it yet.

@@chrismeadows4216 I humbly agree. Shogun is a masterpiece of metal
At this rate, he might take the Avenged Sevenfold route and start doing a ton of Trivium reactions. I hope he really loves all of the Travis material.

No that song is about Prometheus lol. He was the god of fire and was crucified for giving it to humanity
And it alludes to Christ as well, showing him as a similar character to Prometheus. He was crucified on a mountain but not put up on a crucifix. The lead singer looks like Heath Ledger in the movie 10 Things I Hate About You! 💯🔥🙌🤘🍻 Lol
GIBBY you need to react to "Like light to the flies" its a beast awesome song!!!

As you tell I’m a huge fan Trivium
Whole album is ridiculous. Absolute must listen. Prime trivium.

Whoa whoa whoa you have to do a reaction to like light to fly’s but trivium it is mandatory!!!
A Breakdown in metal is when all instruments and the vocals cut whatever they're playing to bring in a heaviest part of the song, usually.
