Today we are going to do a deep dive review of Zildjian K Custom Dark Cymbal Pack (or a box set as I like to call it). We'll discuss how these cymbals are different from other lines that Zildjian makes, and as always we'll have a ton of sound samples for you. Included in this Zildjian Cymbal Pack are 5 cymbals: * 14 inch K Custom Dark Hi-Hat Top * 14 inch K Custom Dark Hi-Hat Bottom (Hi-Hat Pair) amzn.to/3RG9BMj * 16 inch K Custom Dark Crash amzn.to/3RIc9tt * 18 inch K Custom Dark Crash amzn.to/41Hxojs * 20 inch K Custom Dark Ride amzn.to/41ECq0h Full Pack: amzn.to/3vhsXjk *If you purchase through the above links, I'll make a tiny commission. That'll make me super happy, as I could buy more drums!*
Bro, i can't believe you actually did this, an actual cymbal demo in which you're playing the cymbals! Genius. These days its alot to ask for. I own a 17" K custom dark crash and a 20" K custom dark ride, they are almost 20yrs old and sound like casting magic! Great review.
I bought the K custom dark hi hat for my cymbal setup (which included 2 A custom crashes / china and K ride) Great mixture of sounds for any genre I guess, and I'm happy with it... Oh man... the hi hats are amazing in studio setting and the trashier open sound is very suitable for hard rock or metal. Fantastic musical instrument 🤟🥁🎵
I really dig the custom dark crashes and to my ear they are much nicer than the standard K darks. I have the 16 and 18. The rest of the line is nice but never rocked my socks. If I’m doing all Ks, I go with the custom dark crashes, EAK ride, splash and China, and a Kerope top hat over a Custom special dry bottom hat.
I have the 20" ride, 18" crash and the 14" hi-hats. Since I'm a soft jazz drummer, I prefer a lower volume with definition and the ride and crash are good for this. However, my hi-hats are disappointing. They are more suited to rock or big band swing. To me, they are "clangy" at low volume instead of "musical".
I forgot to mention that I also have a K Dark Thin 18" crash which is slightly brighter than the K Dark Custom crash in the same weight. I have it paired with my Bosphorus Traditional Medium-Thin 20: Ride. They sound like the K Custom Ride and Crash, only kicked up a notch in brightness - not too much, just enough. (I've been trying to find a pair of 14" hi hats with that Dark Thin sound.) Both sets are wonderful for jazz, pop, light rock and latin. Wood tip sticks and brushes work wonderfully on all of them. @@drumdrumdrum

Thanks! I try to think "what would I want to see" when I plan these videos. Oh, and wishing I had some old school Darks. 🙂
Cymbal packs are the best value 😊😊😊
nice video! Looking forward to reviewing cheap vs expensive brand of cymbals
Thank you : )

Interesting hihat setup with the Kerope!
@@drumdrumdrum I like a heavy bottom hat with a light top. I like the combo. It’s smooth but not too dark. Good articulation but not shrill.
Great job..cymbals sound nice..😊
Thanks! : )

Good perspective!

Cool! I actually have an old K Dark thin 14" that I pull out for recording sessions sometimes. I don't think they make that size for K Dark anymore 😕
How long have you been drumming?
About 30 years.
A pack ?u are the last guy I would expect to buy a pack..lol
Hah. 😀 I figured it would be good to challenge my love of my rock ride and new beats : )
They all sound great
To me my k “19 crash sounds so much better than my a 19” medium thin
Cool, actually 19" is one of the sizes I don't have : )
Snare im a Ludwig snare dude
Such a good video and so horrible sound. Dislike.
That's OK. : ) What's type of cymbal is more up you're alley?
