Generally as long as it’s softer than metal. You shouldn’t damage anything. But anything metal is most likely stronger than brass. And will damage it. I own a raw hide now which is the best tool.
This isn't great information. You need to oil the bearings with bearing and linkage oil. You also need to properly reseat the bearing plate or the rotor will travel up and down and hang or be noisy (like your rotors are).
This is true. This was a school instrument and when maintained properly, it wasn’t much better. Because of the neglect from previous students. But also the videos at the time didn’t talk much about rotors very well or talked about using steel wool and I wanted something better than that. This is what made the instrument improve for me before I knew all the right practices
THANK YOU SO MUCH! I couldn't find tutorials on how to clean a trigger trombone and this helps so much! Thank you!
You can use a small air compressor to dry it off as well. Or a high powered shopvac on reverse I found works really well. Good vid tho
Does it have to be wood or could it be like a small pvc pipe?

I cant get the valves to come out at all.
If you have a rubber/ raw hide mallet. Use that.
Why don’t you put the snake through while it’s still wet?
That usually does work better. Didn’t think of it at the time.
