I bet if someone goes blind they will feel bad for themselves for taking sight for granted, but for Tommy here, it's a completely different ballgame as he seriously doesn't know what sight is at all.
Minkki82 having alcholic parents or just deep depression is probably worse than being blind.. I mean, yeah, it's terrible to not see anything but having deep depression is probably worse.
Jonh Snow The reason why able bodied people take everything for granted is because their "normal" is having everything, like food, the internet, clothes etc, but as soon as they lose something, they realise that being positive is what they should have been doing when they had these things. shame
My friend lived with us for about 6 months. One day my grandmother was cooking dinner and poured us some sunny d. My friend said to me "Why did your grandmother put her finger in the glass?" He was living with us for so long and he had no idea she was blind.
Okay, because I have a sense of humor I have to crack up at the fact that there are ad's for GLASSES popping up on this video hahahaha.. The craziest things happen on my channel too but this did make me laugh. I know with your sense of humor you'd agree lol.

i know the cooking is simple so that there are extra unnecessary steps but you need some veggies too Tommy! :D you dont even need to cut that lettuce, it is easy :) no cooking injuries
Terinka14 Blind people can pretty safely use a knife. If you need your sight to dice or cut, then your form is wrong and you're likely to injure yourself anyways.
The steak hand thing is close, but not quite. "Touch your thumb and your index finger together in the "OK" sign, and then press the fleshy part of your palm right below the thumb with your other hand. Feel how soft and malleable that is? That's the way rare steak feels when you press it! Now touch your other fingers to your thumb, one at a time. As you move from your index finger to your pinky, the pad of your thumb will get progressively more firm and resistant. This feels similar to steak as it cooks, moving from rare (index finger) to medium-rare (middle finger) to medium (ring finger) to well-done (pinky)."
Hey Tommy, i recently found your channel, the videos are a great source of information on people trying to understand blindness and you have a great personality in presenting it.. keep up the videos..
My sister went completely blind in her mid-20s, about 20 years ago. She cooks extremely well and can usually tell when things are done by how they smell. She can tell the difference between regular and chocolate milk by how they sound when poured. It's amazing how her other senses really pick up the slack. She's apprehensive about using the stove when her 3 year old grandson is around, mostly because he likes to "help." She's a trooper!
this is sooo kind! but tommy looks like he doesn't neet help! so stop trying to "help" - try drinking a beer with people like tommy and ask how they are!

lol but he has obviously got so much more practice.. how about you try doing something blindfolded to actually grasp ho hard it is. remember he is blind from birth
How do you know you grabbed the fries from the freezer? And how do you tell if something like meat or cheese has gone bad? I'd be so frustrated to make a good burger only to bite down and find id topped it with moldy cheese or something

Even things like catching a bus are a struggle alone, if not mere impossible. There is no hope for me :c
Don't say that! You just have to look at the things you CAN do and not the things you can't. You just have to ask others for help if you need it. I'm visually impaired myself and can't drive or do a lot of things others can. I just disregard them. If they can do something I can't, so what? I can still do many other things just like them. +Mirozenx You know I have a blind acquaintance at University, and she's the best language learner and singer I've ever met. And if science has a chance of fixing your vision and succeeds... the world is literally yours, you'll be like superman with vision and all the things you pick up without it.

There's always hope, sometimes it's pretty hard to find, but it's there.
I've heard (not sure if true) that women who are blind have much stronger orgasms during sex. The brain does not have to deal with all the signals that it usually does from sight. That means a lot of the neurons in the brain are redistributed towards other senses. Like the sense of pleasure (touch). So you might want to try it out and please report back on if that's true :)
This video makes me want to cry. I realize how much I've taken my ability to see for granted. He has an attitude towards life I want to aspire to have.

I wonder if it is because he accidentally got some expired milk at some point in life? I LOVE milk, but if it's going to expire in a few days, I won't touch it! I couldn't imagine the gamble if I couldn't read the expiration date!
For testing burgers or steak. The way I learned it is that lightly touching the thumb tip to the tip of the index finger and tapping the palm at the base of the thumb is rare. Thumb to middle finger is medium-rare. Thumb to index finger is well. And thumb to small finger is well-done.
I would love to know what flavors are your favorite. Just because I met a man who is blind since birth and I wanna cook something nice and tasty for him - He kinda likes everything sweet, but dislikes salad for example. I wonder if it's just because he has never eaten a very good salad with nice tasty ingredients because he eats this delivered food a lot which is served in canteens. Or that he simply don't like it. He loves coke and chocolate and sauces on everything. But I was thinking about if I could surprise him with a very fresh meal with some really good things and interesting flavors...
