I always said I would never buy a Harley, but after going to Sturgis in 2022 I ended up buying a road glide ST Harleys are definitely expensive but it’s something I can see literally keeping forever. We all know how writing is a community but it’s something a little different when you ride a Harley. The reason I say I could keep it forever. There’s aftermarket companies for engines and transmissions. I don’t know everything but I can’t think of another company for other manufactures where you can swap engines. It definitely is the Lego or Jeep of the motorcycle world. But he did forget to mention one thing sound systems .
Strangely, as the proud owner of a 2021 Sportster S, with really limited parts available ATM, the cheapest and best modification was a 40mm up and 25mm back bar riser. The next essential is the HD screen as it comes, to take the wind off the chest. I did it arse about and got the seat first but that just held me in and did not change the rider triangle. The great thing is, you can pretty much reset your rider triangle because the bike is not built to be specifically one thing. You don't buy the perfect bike, you buy the bike and make it perfect.
2022 Sportster S checking in. Hardly any aftermarket support… definitely already considered a bar riser, seat, and exhaust. Haven’t been able to find much.
@@LyonMAN99 There is a bar riser for it on Ebay. Perfect fit and finish. 40mm up and 25mm back. I have had it on for three months now (only about $40). The Corbin Smuggler Gunslinger seat is excellent as a solo saddle or the Smuggler Gambler if you want a passenger. Corbin also has a tail tidy that ties in well with the seat. You are right about the pipes for the moment though. I think TBR is the only one with a full system but it is unshielded. I can wait. I finish work at midnight so it will keep the neighbours happy.
I've got an 08 fatbob, from a dynabro you're definitely right about the stock suspension it really leaves something to be desired for a lot of people starting out on one wouldn't recommend changing the suspension right off the rip though. Make sure you have the right tire pressure and tweak your suspension until you find a sweet spot before you make that choice also dropping 2-400 on an aftermarket seat definitely goes a long way before 11-1500 for a new suspension setup. Also a nice cheap upgrade is trash your stock bar riser bushings and get some nice ones.
One thing i was told when i got my Sportster, is if you get a high flow intake and high flow exhaust, you definitely need a tune. HD tunes them lean as hell from the factory to get their mpg ratings. A bone stick bike would even benefit from a tune.
One of the first mods on my 883 was the fuel cap. That thing rattles the whole day. One mod you missed is chopping fenders, under fender break lights and small side number plate
Here are mine: 1) Quad lock phone mount pro (not exclusive to HD) 2) Saddlemen Two-Up seat 3) Serrated mini floorboards 4) Serrated brake and gear shift levers 5) Serrated hand grips 6) Bar-end mirrors 7) Shorty hand control levers 8) Bassani Radial Sweepers exhaust + tune 9) Memphis shades Road Warrior faring + color match paint job & 15” windshield 10) LED turn signals
Currently taking the bike I inherited from my dad (1985 fltc) and putting larger cylinders and big cam with a new carb and pipes. Also putting a 6 speed instead of the 5 speed. Gonna give the classic bike a makeover.
Headlights: I'm old enough that my first bike over 50cc was a 1962 BMW R60 with a 6 volt system. If you want a truly magical night time riding experience try a 6 volt system with a 1962 vintage incandescent bulb. The cool thing about those old headlights is that you wouldn't have to be scared about hitting a deer or steer on the road at night because you wouldn't see them before you hit them.🤗 A friend was killed hitting a stray hog on his BSA at night. I would have been over the top ecstatic for a halogen headlamp.
Oh boy, a video about Royal Enfield yesterday and a Harley Davidson video today. Papa Yam, are you becoming a boomer on us? Sincerely, A concerned Squid.
Only mod on my 2011 dyna street bob ( bought new) is passenger pillion and the 110 tire shredder kit along with exhaust and high flow intake. Stock grips and pegs are good enough for me and more than enough power to get me in trouble, no point in "trading up "🤷
To non H-D folks, any bike that isn't a rice rocket must be a Harley-Davidson. My first bike was a Suzuki Boulevard, and I often got comments on how nice my Harley was.
Own a 2008 dyna Fat Bob that I’m halfway the process of upgrading. So far aesthetics, but exhaust and air systems are next. Added a Memphis shades road warrior fairing , viking leather bags, seat, sleek mirrors and LED lights. Getting there.
I'm the first few Rider in my city that got the Nightster 975 working and running Been modding handle bar, seats, sissy bars, and full system exhaust Don't know how long I have to wait for aftermarket air cleaner I'm sure the Sportster S shares the same air cleaner part, but can't find any aftermarket air cleaner anywhere I plan to dyno / ecu flash it (Stage 1) once I got air cleaner ready Now it back fires every time I close throttle for engine brake
Harley is making a screamin eagle one for the sportster s and pan america but idk about the nightster. If you go to the website and then put your bike in on the parts section just go to screamin eagle performance and you should find it if it’s there. Edit: I just checked and there are some nice looking and performing options.
Just finished doing a 128 kit to my 2022 Street Bob, new clutch, chain conversion, and few other things. Got into the motorcycle world a little late. Just turned 26. This is only my second bike, but eventually want to try out an MT09 or 10.
You may have put a video out about this before but have you done one on best bikes for big riders? I'm 6'4" and want to ride but I like sport bikes and I don't wanna look funny riding it. Any suggestions?
First, thank you for this opportunity to own a Roadster. I have wanted one for a few years now. And I am 57 year’s now. I really do want this Roadster. And I’m keeping the faith. Thanks
I like the stock sound of my 114. 3rd gear 3000rpm purrs like a 800lb kitten. also I like to stealth a little around my neighborhood when I pull into my garage at 1am
My 2004 sportster had screaming eagle exhaust on it when I bought it but I could feel all the angry neighbors looking at me when I went or came so I switched to the original exhaust, while a part of me loves the SE sound (except after riding for a couple of hours my ears just want to fall off) I love the orignal sound also, it purrs like a kitten but has some bite to it when I throttle up! The only thing I hate is the original exhaust looks like it has a foreskin on it while the SE exhaust has a big cool hole
While I love my 22 ultra limited I agree with pretty much all of this. I just put the stage one on this winter. Plan to get a Corbin seat and some taller bars just to get my hands out of my lap. Definitely a lot of room to improve on this $33k bike which imo makes it way over priced but still a sick bike. It was hard to take my 22 z900 to work with the harley sitting there last year with all its comfort and luggage space
I frikkin' hate open pipes on a harley, they sound a bit shite anyway, it just sounds really shite to everyone for 5 miles around now. A cement mixer sounds better.
I had a sportster. it already had pipes and a tune. (still dog shit slow) I put rear shocks, and grips to make the ride bareable still sold it. Just not comfortable or quick.
10.5.1Pistons, big Boar kit, cams, pipes, air cleaner, and tune....... that's all it took to make Harleys to be kinda fast.... sooo cheap. Good thing I only have 2. ...Almost forgot , and changing up the gearing (also cheap).😆
Yeah, no one would do these things to a metric cruiser ! It would look even more ridiculous than it already does and sound like a cheap air compressor.
Na, when I switched to apes it drastically improved the comfort. 1000 mile trips no longer cause shoulder pain. It sounds counter productive but reasonable apes are a God send for comfort.
Depends on the bike and the rider. Taller riders will benefit from higher bars (reasonably higher, not the ones where you're literally hanging from them) that keep the grips more in line with the shoulders. On long rides, low handlebars, like are common on most harley touring bikes, will make your shoulders hurt like crazy, but raising them up even a few inches can make all the difference.
Pretty cheesy posting a video of a 750 Honda Shadow in a video about strickly about Harley Davidson! (842 in the video) Some people can't tell the difference I guess. I get "Nice Harley" when people see me on my '06 1300 VTX.
Having rode many Hatley even brand new 2022 models yes...this is definitely the best mod although I liked the dynas and the new sportster s was fun and the heritage is a comfy bike I'd use for 2 up road trips there's still many better options like perhaps a kawasaki concours faster lighter comfy doesn't leak or rattle your fillings out better looking and cheaper
