I haven't commented before, but I must tell you how important and useful your videos have been for me. Your series on the IC 7300 and the IC 705 have been valuable teachers for me and also valuable references when I need a refresher for a feature I don't use often. you have been my goto for the 7100. It has helped me understand the radio. I look forward to your accessory board! And now I am looking at the hm-151. Also the other site to improve the mic sound. A little over $100 total cost. The 7100 is my only comprehensive radio so I want it to be my best.
Thanks for the kind words Rory. If you use the rig mobile, the HM-151 is great. If you’re using it primarily as a base radio, you might be better off with a base station mic of some type. The Icom SM-30 is a good choice, if you like desk mics. The Heil microphones and/or headsets are also very good choices if you prefer a boom mic or a headset.

Hi, I'm looking for 2m/70cm FM/SSB + airband (RX only) radio for base station. IC-7100 looks nice but does it cover airband? In the manaul there is nothng specific about it. It schould cover RX form 0.030 to 199.999MHz but with the note: "Some frequency bands are not guaranteed". Can I use it to listen AirBand?
The 7100 does receive airband frequencies fine. I have several local airport frequencies programmed in memory on mine.
