Thats a pretty large house there... good on you for landing that job! And you are doing an awesome job at an awesome speed as usual! Thanks for sharing!👍
That’s a lot of fill and rock for that house. It looks like it’s going to sit on a mountain. That is steep drop off at back of the house. Thanks for sharing with us. Great job and video Brandon.
It ended up being 313 loads of fill around it and will probably take another 200 to finish the back yard when they build the retaining walls. Crazy for sure! Appreciate you watching
Holy moly, that's a lot of fill. I don't think I've ever seen that much fill in a porch. Not counting what went around the house, there's about 207 yds in the porch. A little planning would have saved a huge expense in dirt. Ya did good, though. Keep em coming!
I'm still blown away at the waste of space Pop was a contractor for 50 years and I worked for him for 7 of those years and I've never seen anything like this
@@eliteearthworksllc...Yep, over 10-20weeks of trucks hauling 9 hrs/day I would spot check a random truck twice weekly and I counted the 12 cuyd trucks at 8.4cuyds and I never felt like the engineers cheated me out of one cuyd.
That sure is a foundation. That'll be there a long, long time. Kind of like a molar with deep roots. The house will be like a gold crown on top. You will have to show us the finished product.
I would have cut a garage door in the back and put spancrete on top, they could have had a nice shop down there! It’s easy to spend other peoples money 😆
Well, my son said now you can literally say you made a mountain out of a mole hill, LOL. I hadn't realized just how much you had built that up around the foundation until you were going around with the dozer - it's HUGE! Thius whole job is just plain crazy. "No basement," then "maybe we should have had a basement" (but it's too late), then "hmmmm - how do 'WE' fill these huge holes 'WE' just made?" Well, I guess that's what makes the world go 'round and at least it's not hurting you - other than you needing to be five other places at the same time. Those drone shots at the end were really good, and I guess you still have LOTS more filling to do all around.
Yeah it’s definitely crazy and makes no sense. They finally realized that a basement would have been way cheaper but it’s too late now they are committed. It’s a good deal for me but I feel bad cause it should have been avoided. I filled the back in at least 12’ deep the place looks like it sticks out of a hill now lol! Appreciate you guys watching
Brandon, you have done a really great job moving dirt around that foundation. I can't think of what else to say. I was trying to figure out exactly what that builder is doing there and I can't really come up with much that makes sense. Maybe the people he's building for have their head set on a certain floor plan that was designed for a table top smooth lot. The dollar figure of that foundation before any building starts has to be staggering. And evidently the people are afraid of a basement that daylights out the back. That would have been a good fit for that lot.
Yes it was a perfect basement lot but they are dead set on having a crawlspace. We tried talking them into a walkout basement and just don’t finish the basement but they said they didn’t want a house that big. They’ve got one but it’s just not useable. I think they finally realized it would be cheaper to have put in a basement though
I'm surprised they didn't pour pier column's in the cavity's and dead men on the interior walls for extra support. That's a sketchy backfill lol you know it's going to settle
Great job my friend 👍🏻 11:19 that dump truck sounds awesome 😎 19:39 the horn sounded funny 28:47 l heard a motorcycle 29:42 love how you said die out love your hat
Brandon… a guy could build a really nice mansion for the cost of just the dirt & dirt work on that place! We got our first rain on Friday… 1/2”. The trees were smiling today!! You were hopping to keep up with that army of trucks. I bet the day passed by fast. When do you want me to get those logs?
Yes he could lol! That was much needed rain for sure. It was a blur. I’m not sure now I’m done over there for awhile but I will let you know when I’m heading back.
It's looking good but my brain is hurting. Would it have been easier to have raised up the site to grade and then to have excavated for the foundations? I think that I remember you mentioning that it should have been a walk out basement -Yes.
Thank you! It looks a bit backwards but since it was a perfect walk out basement lot this makes the most sense. We need to dig down to solid ground for the foundation and it was easier for the concrete guys to get their forms in this way. It would have been much cheaper to do a basement too
@@eliteearthworksllcI do not know your building codes, but wouldn’t it have been better to fill that whole area in then dig the foundation? Been a lot less concrete unless the foundation had to be on original ground. You can get good compaction on most clays.
@@johnscott2849 yes the footings have to be on virgin ground so we would have had to dig back down through the clay so it’s easier to build it like this then backfill. More concrete but that’s part of it
They can back up to it but you don’t want them to go parallel with it. Then it puts the full weight of the truck on the wall. It’s a patio in the back so there’s really no way to use that area under it
I cannot get over how much space/money they are just wasting filling in what could have been valuable & usable spaces. I get that some people have got more money than sense, but this is next level pointless. I got it's more work/money for you but it's not like there isn't a tonne of work there anyway 🤷 Maybe the architect has shares in the local backfill quarry LOL

I agree this has been an expensive backfill
