- The cons to living in Ecuador. It's a pretty small list, but these are the things you need to know before moving to Ecuador. I'm laying out my negatives - what I don't like, what I hate, what just plain sucks. Don't get me wrong, I love living in Ecuador, but not everything is perfect. I could list all the cons right here, but watch the dang video already!!
What?! You got a problem with that? You wanna piece of me bro?!

Just a day after posting this video where I say 'I've never felt an earthquake in Ecuador', I feel my first. 😮
Wait till someone points an empty gun at u 😉
@@EejuVava ..... during an earthquake and the volcanoes are blowing!
Great Video Bro! I trust that branch you stepping out on is not too thin. Love your sense of humor/ rants are great. Just like me in the morning before my coffee. Glad you gave permission to use garberment 😆
After living here a year, I needed a good laugh. I no longer take anything for granted....electricity, water, internet, the roads....
Lol, this video had us cracking up 😂 nicely done! Tough losses for our teams yesterday, was hopeful for a GB/BUF SB. If you ever head to the coast let us know, cheers!
I was double disappointed too!
There needs to be a sitcom made about you. You have a great sense of humor.
Yeah my advice is never carry anyone's else's stuff in your suitcase through customs , but if you do want to its a really good way to end up in prison by carrying someone's drugs for them
That's a good point that I never even thought of.
Thanks for an honest look at living in Ecuador.
do you ever making walking videos of your travels! you got a lot of cool food vids!
Hi, I live in China right now and wonder what you would say are pros and cons in comparison to china? (I've been mainly in Shenzhen and Guangzhou)
We LOVE your videos! We're planning to retire there (though we're currently still pretty young). As much a you're enjoying Ecuador, are you planning to stay there or do you think you'll move on?
We wanna stay, but there are a lot of things to consider. I could see us going somewhere else in a couple years, but then returning to Ecuador for good one day.
@@itchyfeetonthecheap I will retire in Ecuador to.
I already own a farm in the province of Loja.
Be Careful for what you wish ! Otherwise all American college kids will follow and party all day long in Ecuador, even if it's not spring break 😏
I find you to be entirely hilarious - stumbled upon this one and will have to watch them all now
Love your humour!
🤣😂🤣
awesome video, made me laugh the whole time!
Omg...you guys are informative and hilarious
sometimes we're late because of the bus, but if we have a car... we'll probably be late too jajaja
I gotta ask. When it comes to these stray dogs, if you were to fall off your bike at that moment would they honestly maul you to death or is it just them chasing you to get you away?
Well that's something I've never thought of and will now have nightmares about.
You're Canadian? Have you done a video on the citizenship status and how income tax works? If not this might be very interesting.
FINALLY found someone who tells you what no one else will
What's the deal about no toilet paper can go into the toilet , it must be put into a paper bag ? I like the details you mentioned. Thank you
A lot of countries around the world don't flush their toilet paper. You put it in the shit bucket. But I think the newer buildings have plumbing that can handle the toilet paper.
Whats the quietest place to live in Ecuador. I don't like loud music and dogs etc... thanks, like your video!
I'm not sure - maybe Cotacachi. On the side of a mountain in the countryside would be quiet. Depends if you want a town, city. Cumbaya has some quiet spots and is close to the city.
Hey, buddy, thnx for the honest video !!! You have mentioned you ride a bike, I'm a biker myself how about roads >??? is were some nice places to ride?
So many great places to ride. Yesterday we went from Quito to Riobamba, about 200km and the whole way the road was in great shape, not a lot of traffic, and some nice views of volcanoes if the day is clear.
I recently discovered this site... Haven't really used it yet, but it shows some good off the beaten path rides. www.ecuadoryaventura.com/
Saulius, one other great thing about riding in Ecuador is the freedom from tickets. You can basically rip around as fast as you want without anyone bothering you like in Canada, USA, or Europe
usually the stories about 'my friends' are all actually the stories about myself😂🤣😂🤣
I've watched 3 of your videos now ... not in chronological order. Here I find out you are Canadian. It ALL ... makes ..... perfect ...... sense ....... now. P.S. Was in Dubrovnik in 2019 for a roaring earthquake .... that was a spicy meatball!
That's bad timing. I've always wanted to go to Dubrovnik though, so maybe worth it?
@@itchyfeetonthecheap , I spent a month in Dubrovnik and a month in Split. I preferred Split. Dubrovnik is really small and can easily be done in 3 days.
It all depends where you live you got Hollywood in California and Detroit in Michigan .And of course all the sub human reservations in Canada specially up North .Any way enjoy life and have a good time .
Ok so I have my own opinions of Quito. Im still learning about Ecuador. To me Quito is fake Ecuador. It's a blend of modern city but with no culture and maybe at the fault of local politicians. The city is more expensive than places like Guayaquil. The centro shuts down and rolls their sidewalk at 5 pm and 4 pm during the week days, if you want to stay near the cool place to be, parque carolina, again there is not much going on things close early, you can't find a liquor store with 1 liter bottles of beer after 4 or 5 pm. Did I mention the beer prices? lol sorry I know not everyone agrees but to me quito is boring but I found Guayaquil which is closer to what I'm used to Colombia
Have you tried eating roasted cui ? Is it almost like rabbit? Please let me know cause they sure look delicious 😋 , imagine eating one every day?
I kept putting it off and never ended up trying it. I'm sure it's fine, but pig is pretty good itself - no need to add a guinea to it.
That was funny bro. 😂 Why don't they go cashless? I think the downside of using USD (Cambodia does this too) is that it kinda inflates the prices quite a bit.
Same in Europe, countries that don't use the €€ tend to be dirt cheap in comparison.
Well, except Norway, Switzerland, Sweden...sheet. I take that back. 🤐
I would love it if they went cashless, but I don't think they're close to being ready for that. Most places don't even take credit cards.
Get to know ppl that are always on time. Hard to find, but i know some :)
It sounds like most of the economy is still based on hardcore cash transactions? If there were mobile payments commonly adopted, you won't have to deal with it.
I know. I miss that about China.
I was enjoying the video until I saw Fatty Nips. Poor baby! The USA has its share of unwanted pets, but my trip to Costa Rica many years ago was heartbreaking. There were hungry, sick and injured dogs everywhere, Anyway, thank you for your videos. I always appreciate hearing different opinions. Money usually makes a huge difference in one's personal experience no matter where he lives. I mean, although they're both neighborhoods in Chicago, living in a West Garfield Park apartment is going to be a very different experience than living in a Lincoln Park mansion.
You are right, in Ecuador people don’t put with any sheisse from the Gov
I think there's 3 solutions for dogs chasing you on your motorbike , an American m-80 , a Samurai Sword , a .22 split shot gun.
This is very interesting information!! Thank you!!
Funny too!!
A Bills fan
"you want a piece of me" reminded me of sh*t talking or yapping on the ice in canada...I'm 5.5 years here in san clemente and love it...If you decide to partake in a road trip I will buy you a beer @ SABOR DE BAMBOO
Sounds good to me!
"I know somebody that was robbed at gun point." Unfortunately a few months later, that was you. So sad.
Not big deals for a young guy like you, but for older people like myself might be a whole other story.
Dude, what are you talking about… I live here in Canada West Coast on Vancouver Island, I used to get offered at least twice a week cocaine when waiting for the bus downtown here in Vic.
Haha the slogan is crazy!
The thumbnail lol. Doesn't sound much different than LA except the volcano part
And the cost.
Lol, 10:38 then being rob before leaving ecuador xD xD
Canadian -style macho. You make me laugh!
Mate, the drivers didn't even make your list?? and you ride??
That's definitely my #1 con about Quito.
You must be either super chilled, or have huevos grandes!
You have a good point. I just got back from a road trip and a lot of people pissed me off. But I also lived in Asia for 5 years and it was worse there.
@@itchyfeetonthecheap I've driven cars and ridden motorcycles in dozens of countries - and Ecuador is pretty average. People who live in Quito think the traffic is crazy, but they have never been to Mumbai, Mexico City, Boston, Paris, Rome...
@@luisdetomaso2224 Boston . . lol
...and the Oscar for Best Actress in a RUclips video goes to Sara @12:10
I know! I was in the room and I still thought it was a legit quake.
So Quito is not quieto. Lol
Try to live without too many thinks! The basics! Not like in USA where they buy and buy and buy and really don’t need all that much! Then they sale it in garage sales and then they go back and they buy it back? Crazy! Sooo many stores selling many things even with the original price! My friend married with a Dutch, he hate all the waste in USA! No place is perfect but ECUADOR has beautiful beaches! I miss my beaches!
Be part of the solution. Volunteer and help. Give back to the community!!
Why does the color on your video switch every minute from blue to yellow? Are you using different lenses or cameras wtf?
Probably shitty white balancing.
Thumbnail has me cracking up.
So..... You're saying I should fill a container with $5 bills... Lol.... No... Seriously..... Should I ?
I mean, it's not a bad idea. The country would be grateful I think.
you left out the worst thing in Ecuador!!!! All the slippery A$$ tile everywhere!
Love 2 join you in Ecuador but I gotta sell all my stuff to the mormons . And as long as there's no volcanoes 🌋 .
After driving around Ecuador , I would add the roads are small 2 lane curvy roads everywhere outside of the cities and sort of sketchy in places and hopefully you dont get car sick . Washed out roads and lots of slow trucks spewing lots of diesel smoke everywhere, in the cities it can get a lot worse from the diesel exhaust. I am not sure if they do smog checks on cars, but from my experience I dont think so. Also, saw while driving into Quito came upon a large truck that had just killed a motorcyclist. Oh yes, electronics of any kind are expensive with the taxes, so if you damage your new iphone like i did and cracked the screen and got it wet in a crazy cavern there you might not be able to get it fixed easily. I tried in Quito . And the money issue was weird, pretty much no one has change for larger bills.
They do require smog tests on cars, but I think some vehicles are exempt. I had to get my motorcycle tested and I was told I had to take it to a mechanic, which there were tons of just outside of the testing center, and they adjusted the exhaust so I would pass. The motorcycle was brand new. After it passed, you take it back to the mechanic and they put it back to how it was. It's so stupid.
Get your shit together ecuador !! hahaha
Dude, has nothing to do with disrespect when been late. Watch the videos from Abundantliving Ecuador. Those guys had nailed the culture like no one before.
🤓😂🙏🙏🙏👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Can you do an Christopher Walken impersonation? sometimes you sounds similar.
I just tried and I felt embarrassed for myself.
😂😂😂😂 hilarious
1. Traffic/driving is like an MMA fight; no respect for traffic rules, bus & truck drivers are the most reckless drivers; no vehicle inspections
2. Way too many mopeds & motorcycles; especially, ones that can’t keep up with traffic and block entire lanes, no helmets, up to 3 people on them including infants-it’s more than a nuisance it’s dangerous
3. No respect for personal space (but it’s that way in many other parts of the world, too)
4. Ecuadorians believe all Americans are rich
5. Seriously bad stray dog problem - they need to have a spay & neuter program
Medical attention it’s really bad in Ecuador people die in need of medical needs . Medical attention is expensive and poorly carried out .
Even after getting robbed at gun point ?lol
Nice show, gov. Like you, I spent 3 years in China, was like doing time for me. In fact, so shitty that I used to tell my GF that going to work for 8 hours a day was the best part of my day. Yeh. Live in Saigon now but leaving for Ecuador, not sure where, in January. Thanks for your great channel.
I loved living in both China and Vietnam, but Ecuador is so different. It's much easier living, more relaxed, closer in culture to North America and Europe. I think you'll like it.
Where did you move to and how has it been going? I'm hopefully moving to Loja in February, but I've never been to this part of the world (Barley been out of Europe) so im super excited but also quite terrified 😅
hilarious
Why is it that you "God damn" yet you don't believe He exists?
Omg you are so dramatic lol
The Ecuador from Rafael Correa’s era is gone, welcome to the Ecuador governed by Oligarchs and Bankers.
Another words, it sucks to have to put up with all this nonsense just to save a buck or two in a third world country!!!
Quito is 9,300 ft, not 10,000
I'll have to remember that.
quito is the worst
