When you do your future *_top foods from El Salvador_* video remember to drop the "El" when discussing people, food and culture of El Salvador. That first vendor did you wrong, Rockstar. I've had loads of pupusas over many years and you must eat them with *_curtido_* which is a classic pupusa slaw. And salsa. Or both. Seriously. Next time, try the curtido.
I will see if I can get them with slaw next time.
@Rockstar Eater Oh it's there, she just forgot to tell you about it. And it's always complimentary. Do a google image search of pupusas and I guarantee 9 out of 10 pics will have slaw on the side or on the pupusa.

love the video. its "Salvadoran" or "Salvadorian" without the "el", also it makes me happy to see how people love our food but its 100x times better in El Salvador since everything used is either grown/made by the same people or bought from street markets which are just people selling whatever they grow. Great video and thanks for tasting Salvadorian food, indeed as many of the comments below if the vendor at the beginning didn't give you the curtido & salsa (marinated coleslaw & sauce) is a real sin according to the nationals, but maybe was a mistake, anyway the refreshment you had indeed is Passion Fruit its commonly known as Granadilla but that's the Spanish name the original name is "Maracuya" which is a Mayan-Nahuatl name, at 10:40 that big stick is known in El Salvador as "Paste" but commonly named in English as "Luffa" is used for both for bath and washing dishes like scrubber. thanks for the video and Greetings from beautiful Vancouver cheers
