- Harry Potter...but it's a 3-voice fugue! I composed this little fugue on the "Hedwig's Theme" by John Williams. This time I used the original theme without changing or adapting intervals. So It was more difficult to write a bach/baroque-style fugue. There are some strange parts; as I said in the last video, don't take it too much seriously. But not only. Bach found everytime some ideas to make not exact boring and expected developements.

I'd say that you inhabit a rarified world.
I don't have enough skill to be critical but that won 't stop me. And- it's a nit pick.
Your "Potter" fugue is wonderfully and fully developed and presented.
The Potter theme is thorny with many diversions (notes that seem to miss the harmonic target by the slimmest of margins. That's the charm of the theme for me.
So, as your fugue unfolds, Baroque harmony wins and that lessens the excitement for me. I certainly can't show you what I mean and maybe it's meaningless anyway. I do know that fugues have a history beyond JSB.

BRAVO !!!, actually I though it was fairly tame, was expecting more dissonance in the multi parts !
I am putting on my professor's hat. Most themes for fugues are plain peanuts so that that more spicy
can be added for the development contrast after the "basic theme" then to the giant ending with the theme in the bass. Where can one go if all the flourish is already there in the A theme, perhaps more complicated rhythms. Thank you for the question. It really got me thinking. But to tell the truth, this is delightful as a fugue.
@@melanyarmstrong9329 I agree, not sure how one gets more dissonant that the introductory theme itself, but I can still dream of someone inventing a new super-cali-lixo-phrygo-locri-all-i-docious, most dissonant of all, mode, and going for it 🙂 !!!

I really like this fugue as presented, well done. One question, how are you going to play the inner voices when so many are are miles away from one hand or the other? I think you would enjoy it more on a pipe organ, where the lowest line can be placed in the pedals. Just a thought.... Being a composer is whole different ballgame from being a player of any instrument. There is such an instrument as a pedal harpsichord as well. Let your mind run wild with ideas!
@@melanyarmstrong9329 In most of the parts where i noticed this problem, you can play the middle voice (noted in left hand part) with the right hand, will be hard anyways
