Dadan was scared shitless of Garp, however when he didn't save Ace she (as a mama bear) attacked him without any regards for herself. Dadan really is an undertate character!!

I know a lot of people watch one piece for the fights and hype moments but i watch it for this type of content here. I love the emotional stuff.

I love the characters, their growth, interactions, the whole story and for me the fights are just an extra (I enjoy them as well tho🔥)
I mainly watch for strawhat crew moments and the plot twists + information drops. Also I get more excited about the bounties than the fight itself

I believe most people who enjoy one piece are not really into with its fights coz if they are, one piece is not for them. We love one piece bc of the characters, plot, worldbuilding, and mystery.
The Dadan x Garp scene hits even harder when you realize Garp went back there because it was the only place he would be truly punished.
It was the only time in One Piece I actually cried

actually in manga the very last panel like the final statement of that chapter says " there it is, something precious!" make my heart melt
So that's why Ace was so polite and well-mannered when we first met him back at Alabasta..

Jinbe reminds us of an important life lesson: Just because you lose one thing, doesn't mean you lost everything.
Luffy lost Ace, but he still has his loyal crew and friends. These are the people he still has worth fighting for and close to his heart.

Don't live as a slave to the things you lost, live for what you still have and what you can do.
Maaan, I can't even recall how many times I've watched this episode, but that moment with Dadan and Makino right there never fails to make me cry. Dadan is truly a mother to the kids in more ways than one. She may not be the one who gave birth to them, but she understands their feelings as if it's her own especially with Luffy for this one.
It's a great narrative choice to have the crews being separated in this arc. By this time in the story, audiences will feel what Luffy feels in this episode, missing the crews together so much after all that happened.
"You can't get back what you've lost! What is it that you still have?"
Jimbe is the true MVP for this entire Marineford arc! And that famous line is just so amazing of him. Glad he was there for Luffy.

Luffy remembering his friends after marineford is one of those moments that make one piece top tier. I absolutely love the way one piece depicts friendship and loyalty.
When you rewatch the scene with Dadan after some times, it always gets you to tears. How she stood up to Garp like that without fear for her boys.

Luffy remembering his friends is one of the most emotional moments in OP for me.
Seeing Luffy who's usually a force of nature being so broken is so hard and to see him rely on his friends for support is really a great decision.
This saga gave so much more depth to Luffy who was already great !
Grap used to be the person Dadan was most afraid of, but this time she knocked him to the ground without fear. Dadan is definitely one of the people who cares about Luffy and ACE the most.
I hope you do 2 or 3 episodes at once so you can get to Wano quickly, but I like this channel because it uploads every day. thanks for the hard work 🙏
I remember seeing this episode years ago, and to this day its one of the most emotional episodes I've seen. I think Luffy remembering that even though he lost his brother but still has his friends is in my top 5 most emotional moments in One Piece. The music playing when Luffy's counting his fingers and when Ace is speaking to Jimbei about feeling relieved after seeing Luffy, is one of the best musical scores because it's so emotional and powerful. Great reaction guys

In the scene where Makino is teaching Ace and the others, he's teaching them a language called honorific language in Japanese, but it's hard to convey because it's an expression that doesn't exist in English.
I've been up to date watching weekly since 2009. You're right, it was a long time not seeing any of the crew this scene hits hard always!

This is why Jinbe is the GOAT friend. He methodically did everything he could to get Luffy to get it together. He barely even knows Luffy but used his wisdom and experience to help in a way no one else could. He did it for Luffy, for Ace, and by extension Whitebeard.
In the manga they add a dialogue where Garp tells Ace that if he asked him, he would release him.
There hasn’t been a single time where I could watch Dadan beating Garp without tearing up😭

Again .. I CANNOT Stress this enough , Character handling in One Piece is just JUST OUT OF THIS WORLD , its unbeatable .. Everybody Matters , Luffy felt powerless without his crew or everyone around him .. YES , there is a time we need Luffy , but all of the time , we need EVERYONE .. its just shows the handling of these characters makes them feel VERY IMPORTANT
