My husband took the light & sound box apart and added a separate EXTERNAL switch for the sound. Now I can have the lights on all the time, but switch the sound on whenever my little grandkids want to hear the "spooky house" sounds without having to lift the house!
Carl I couldn't agree more with you. I've been a Dept 56 collector since 1994 for both Christmas and Halloween. I started Christmas Village collecting in 1994 and Halloween in 1998. Most of the villages today aren't like the one's made say over last 10 to 15 yrs. They are more costly and less detailed. I love both of my collections Original Snow Village for Christmas and Halloween. A great hobby and family and friends just love them. Lot of work but a lot of fun. I always love that time of year for holiday season. I have Grimsley Manor and it is great piece. My wife thinks I'm crazy buying all these villages but it keeps me out of trouble. It's a must collectors to buy accessories and landscapes. It really brings your Village alive for both Halloween and Christmas. Enjoy setting up your villages for both occasions.
Grimsly Manor! 😍 My favorite Department 56 piece! This is my first year collecting and I was lucky enough to find one of these for sale in mint condition from a loving home, for $75 this year. I will cherish it forever.
I love this house too and I’m so glad you showed yours. I say this because for some reason I never noticed it has a soundtrack. I love it even more after seeing your video and checking mine. It works yay!
Love this piece, love the review. During this review, you mentioned a few places where this beautiful mansion could be purchased in the USA (maybe on line). Could not see the names in the transcript. Could you list them. Thank you.
Thank you! you've solidified my decision on purchasing one! Pictures don't do it justice, but your video shows its beauty. Do you know where to get a replacement sound box for Lemax Dr. Tingles Laboratory? It was my first piece that started my love/collection. The soundtrack and flashing lights was amazing... the person i got it from had tapes/tin-foiled it back together. it only lasted one season & I chunked it out. :( I SO wish I could replace it.
One of my all time favorites-you can’t go wrong with this piece!! Funny, Tingles was my first piece ever I think-no longer have it and no clue where to get a replacement sound box-may be easiest just to look for the whole house again.
@@HalloweenVillagesbyCarl Awe, thats awesome! yeah, i got it for $10, 2 years ago and couldn't believe how old/excellent condition it was when i looked it up. Thank you for your response/help! Love your channel
❤️ the winter tree teaser! Earlier today I saw a stamp for making bridges and a stamp for a stone pattern. This may save you some time. The stamp goes right on the pink or blue styrofoam. Have you seen these?
I have liked this D56 building since I started collecting (not too long ago) and have finally pounced on one. I am a sucker for the classic, Victorian haunted house. One question: did yours come with a little figurine of a dog with a hand in its mouth? I've not seen it listed with other ads on ebay etc., until I ordered mine (indeed I could have missed this detail in the ads).
@@HalloweenVillagesbyCarl Maybe the little figure is an addition the seller included. I haven't received the shipment yet, so I'm not sure. If it's an added figurine, lucky me! :)
Hello Carl, I I have a question. Did you or anyone you know in the villaging community have a problem with the Grimsly Manor, in terms of its delicacy? I ordered through eBay, and it arrived with the top-right hand side broken and a crack down the wall. Not the seller's fault; he packed it well, and eBay gave refund. Ordered another, and that one arrived broken, this time on left-hand side window. Again, it was packed well; it's relatively clear that it's the shipping. I'm looking forward watching to your new Christmas videos soon. Happy Thanksgiving to you & yours, from Canada.
Hmmm…I haven’t heard of any issues. I have have two of them and neither one has those issues. I picked one up local, so avoided the shipping with that one. The other was shipped with no issues. Hate to hear you’ve had trouble-it’s one of my favorites!!

Ahhhh…great idea!!

My favorite piece. It’s bought it back in 1999 at a Hallmark store.
Will forever be one of my all time favorites!!
such a wonderful piece. Just your standard Haunted House. Be good in any situation
Completely agree!!

Awesome-one of my favorites for sure!!!
I found a Grimsley Manor at the Goodwill in good condition for only 10 bucks! The sound and lights worked great.
Awesome find!!!!!
Another great video. Thank you 🎃🎃🎃
Great review Carl, this is a piece I've been looking to get and it's finally at the top of my list for next year!
Good deal-you can’t go wrong with this one for sure!
I love Christmas villages.🎄🎄🎄
Me too!
Love this piece, love the review.

Thank you! This piece has been retired for awhile, so your best bet would be eBay, Mercari, or offer up.

@@HalloweenVillagesbyCarl Thanks for the quick reply! I really like it too. Likely will not be able to buy one without relying on post.
Carl, since you plan on expanding into Christmas soon, will you be changing your channel name?
I may-haven’t really thought too much about it honestly.
