  • In this Europa Universalis IV [EU4] video, I play as the formable nation of Kitara in the Great Lakes region of Africa. The goal of the campaign is to get the Victorian Three achievement. For this we need to play until the end of the game and get to tech level 32. Which will be painful. So we have a little fun along the way. We quickly grow our power base and take over most of the continent of Afria. With a focus on growing the economy and taking gold provinces, we become the number one great power in no time at all. By the end of this video, we can rival the power of the Europeans and Ottomans. By the end of the campaign, we will have no equals!
Thank you all for watching another icepyre video. I hope you enjoy this content, and if you do, be sure to give the video a like and subscribe down below. We have a never ending stream of games and exploits to explore, so stay tuned for what's to come!

Africa is underrated. It is one of my favorite regions. Playing in Africa is guaranteed to be a fun game because no matter what tag you pick, you will end up uncontested great power in 100 years very easy. You also have easy access to a few easy formables like Mali, Kongo, Kritara, Morocco, Tunis, Mamlucks, Ethiopia, Somalia and Aksum. If you start as Songhai or Kilwa you get access to good missions too

I agree I just wish the provinces were smaller. Travel time is such a nightmare.

@@TDudePro yeah that is a nightmare. Kilwa is always a fun game but by nature you don’t have many forts. Always have a stack of 15k running around in the Mutapa area to deal with the separatist rebels that always pop up in the area as well as the Congo basin.

Yeah Africa has become my favorite region over the last few years. I recently did a Kaffa > Mali run and am currently doing a Kilwa > Kongo > Somalia run.
I like how easy it is to turn Cape into an end node by taking the trade provinces in Ivory Coast. Let the Europeans fight over the Americas while they buy all their spices from you and you spawn global trade in Cape.

@@nymasajista9207 I had a recent run that was super fun with a crazy amount of modifiers you should try. I started Songhai, formed Kongo, then Mali then Morocco then Mamlucks government then Egypt. After that the plan was to form Ethiopia and end at Aksum but I got bored. Songhai gets good military buffs and a few permanent modifiers. They are better than like Prussia but for the area you will never loose a battle

@@jric6283 That does sound like a fun run, I haven't played Songhai in a while but I remember them having good mil ideas and claims on their area.
And I hear you on the getting bored part, I'm taking my time with the mission trees of Kilwa then Kongo so I can see if I will play this run past the 1620s as I almost never play past there. The early game is my favorite part.

50:25 The warscore cost vs other religions is calculated on a per province basis, not on the nation as a whole. It's actually extremely useful in Muslim v Muslim warfare as the Dhimmi and Brahmin estate religious privileges cause AI nations to not convert.

You don't need to take Exploration to get the Explorer/Conquistador - so long as you have a colonist from somewhere else you're eligible for the Estate Privileges that give you them for free.
Explorer from the Burghers ("Grant New Works Charters")
    and
Conquistador from the Nobility ("Nobility Expedition Rights").

@@icepyre Don't worry, we've all done shit like this and when you're doing these long campaigns, there's always something.
At least it wasn't the classic "rival instead of ally" one

This was one of my greatest runs i ever had.
I got christianity from the fetishes and as France and Spain discovered me i was already their tech-lvl and christian aswell 😂
My trade went from Mozambique down to cape and up to the Goldcoast. I had so much money and my dynasty calling something like mbugu sat on the french throne.
At the end i fought against the monster osmans to get my fair share of north africa but we hit 1821.
2/3 of Africa were my domain and the indian trade was forced around Africa. 11/10
