  • As we experience more and more dangerous wildfires in the backcountry, this video provides you with critical knowledge, techniques and tools that may save your life.
There are many great resources on trip preparation, planning and communication to make your hiking, backpacking, and riding in the wilderness. There are very few that until now deal with "The fire is coming quickly right now, what might I do?"
This collaborative panel is hosted by the Waterton Glacier International Peace Park Association. Watch and take notes and talk about these excellent points with fellow backcountry users. And prepare well in advance of your trip. Panellists are; a) David Savage, Director, Waterton Glacier International Peace Park Association, b) Jon Scheiding, Assistant Fire Manager, Glacier National Park, and National Fire Program, Parks Canada, c) Kate Hamilton, Executive Director, Great Divide Trail Association, d) Gordon Burns, Search and Rescue Canada, Wildfire BC, Parks Mountain Rescue, Recco, and e) Austin Hager, Director, Great Divide Trail Association.
This is not intended to be a fulsome and detailed resource. The responsibility for planning and reactions is yours. This informal discussion is just one part of the conversation. Please be aware and be safe.
