Brought me to tears since I felt like her vocals weren't showcased enough in some of the songs. Not been a Mixer for a while tbh but I've always heard about their lead singles. I started watching them on X Factor. How time flies! I feel a sense of pride seeing how far she's come, I hope she's proud of herself because this is an amazing song
She was so smart to create a slow and mellow version of the song before someone covered it first on a singing contest as weve seen many times before. She had real vision on this track and run with it her voice on this version is unbelieveable.
Jade wasn't slept on in the band, in fact shes arguable the most famous one with miminal haters (Perrie is the most famous but has lots of haters) my girl Leigh is def the underrated one. JADE has always been that girl.
Watching Jade blossom as a soloist now is extra special to me because it’s proof that everything happens at the right time, for the right reason. This woman was BORN a pop star, she was a schoolgirl when she did her first of THREE (!!) X Factor Auditions, she spent years busking on the streets and performing at social clubs to tiny audiences. She got one big breakthrough in 2011 and was lucky enough to spend over 10 years as part of one of the world’s biggest and most talented girl groups, Little Mix, and even NOW she’s still achieving more and growing more in the next stage of her career. The Jade Thirlwall of 2011 probably wouldn’t be capable of doing this, but all those years spent learning how to be a big pop star as part of Little Mix and growing up in the industry has allowed her to develop such a strong sense of personal identity and artistry. She’s found a level of assuredness and belief in herself that you can only achieve in your 30s. For years, Jade would have grown up believing her age was a career death sentence for a woman in the music industry, but here she is showing that you can not only survive but thrive, and that your age and experience is a blessing as you are able to draw from that to put out your best possible output. Long may she continue to defy the expectations and pressures unfairly placed on her shoulders for being a woman in the music industry!

I wanted to add that her time with Little Mix not only allowed her to develop her personal identity and artistry as you so rightly said, but it also taught her vital skills to be able to perform at this level. The choreography, her stamina, her musicality, vocal control, vocal agility and range are all things that she has been mastering over the years and it's genuinely inspiring to see her blossom into such a talented solo artist. Her vocals here are genuinely so impressive!
We have just witnessed the (re)birth of a generational superstar. JADE has an incredibly powerful and versatile voice, she’s able to emote beautifully through her singing, she’s able to craft and write her own music so everything you see on stage is coming from her heart, she’s able to pull from various different references to create a brilliantly theatrical performance, she can dance, she can just about do everything. It’s one thing having the ability to do these things, it’s another thing to put them all together and put the time and dedication in to your craft to create a piece of art that goes beyond just another song. She is a TREMENDOUS talent, a student of popular music and culture and she is going to transcend in to the upper echelons of pop stardom.

You don't have to win awards to be good. People who are surprised she can sing like this obviously were not paying attention to Little Mix since 2011. She was always one of the strongest voices of the group.
I think it’s more so because she didn’t sing these really big notes much at all and she really wasn’t that strong at it in the group compared to Leigh Anne and perrie. She was always doing the lower notes and her beautiful falsetto. People knew she could sing but not like this because she was in a group of four and relied on others to pick up where she wasn’t the strongest at. Now she is by herself and has improved in areas and gets to sing entire songs to herself so it sounds so fresh to the ear.

She even said it herself and is aware of her limits. She doesn’t need to be a belter which is one of the reasons she is my favorite. I fell in love with her falsetto and her soft airy voice. I just linked three performances where her vocals are clearly second best to Perrie's. Jade was never "limited," and she continues not to be--she smashed the WLM rock version on the Confetti tour. And as for Jesy, she could belt, but usually chose not to. Take SLS: Jade does the first verse and first chorus, whereas Perrie had to take the second chorus because Jesy either couldn't, or chose not to, push herself on belted vocals. I find myself coming back to this, it’s so captivating. The original version was theatrical and dramatic in its own way, but this version manages to not only maintain the theatrics but highlight how tragically beautiful and haunting the song’s melody actually is. It’s a testament to the songs quality when you can completely reinvent it like this and still capture the essence and pure emotion of the song without it feeling forced.
Unpopular opinion but I actually prefer this kinda acoustic and elegant style over the original 🫢 I feel like this style demonstrates more of her range and versatility

Wow I wasn't expecting this when she said sad version. This is totally different. It doesn't even feel like the same song. At many parts I felt like it's was evanescence.

I’m so impressed with Jade. I knew she’d be the soloist who took the most risks. She doesn’t seem to care about her image (beyond the basics of just not being an asshole). She will burp in public, laugh the loudest, and she’s a creative diamond. She’s a great dancer, amazing singer, hell of an actress, and just overall, a creative artist.

This is 100% LIVE, I'm in production, they will film the full video with her singing live vocals, hence why she has in ear monitors in, so every single time which I would say 4-5 time they did the run through she sang live and the live audio then gets pieced together in the studio for the notes and whatever she liked more. Just like Ariana Grande's VEVO performances and her 10 year celebration of her first album, that recorded live 4-5 times then pieced together in the studio for the best performance for us to listen and watch, but just remember Jade and Ariana sang this all. So it wouldn't matter if it was lip synced one bit. It's still her new vocals. The vocals were recorded right were she performing, hence the in ears and the microphone and you can hear the bang when she slams the floor. Same with Ariana you can hear her take the microphone off the stand countless times, hence her having overears so she can hear the band and the click to stay on tempo plus her voice.

I don't understand when someone goes 'this video clip sounds the same as the song on the CD or album' that because it's a music video. This is a live version with spliced vocals for the best vocals for us to listen too.

this song getting a more intimate version was the best idea of all, even more so with the whole context of the song and the music video, which tells what the music industry is like in front of the cameras and behind them too, and JADE as she is/was part of one of the biggest girl bands in the history of the united kingdom and the world, which by the way was the last big global female/male group of great dominance to break up, so she knows very well what she sings in each verse of this track in its entirety, i'm so happy that JADE is having her moment as a great pop artist, because we are in such a raw moment and her delivering what she is delivering is truly something of a dream.
The fact that this S.A.D. version is different from the S.A.D. version on Spotify, and that there is a separate music video for it, says a lot about how much effort she's put into AOMD. She could've easily released a few more digitally edited versions or remixes, but she chose to put out this masterpiece. The completely different vocal and musical arrangements, production, looks, set - oh she really told her record label that she's the boss here and demanded for that budget. She was never as ignored as Leigh Anne was, to the point of people trying to correct themselves and give her more credit at some point, and she was also never the center of attention like Perrie was, because, well she looks like a Barbie and has powerful vocals (they really tried to make her "the leader" of the band, the girls rejected tho, including Perrie), so Jade was kind of a middle child. Not the least favorite, not the most seen. But she was second in favoritism for sure, even with Jesy in the group. Leigh Anne is still ignored to this day tho, she did not receive either the expectation Perrie received (but it didn't work anyway, because people were disappointed with Perrie's music) nor the same amount of support as Jade is receiving, while she obviously invested a LOT of money on promo. Jade seems to be making way better artistic choices with her music tho, my favorite right now.

Watching Jade blossom as a soloist now is extra special to me because it’s proof that everything happens at the right time, for the right reason. This woman was BORN a pop star, she was a schoolgirl when she did her first of THREE (!!) X Factor Auditions, she spent years busking on the streets and performing at social clubs to tiny audiences. She got one big breakthrough in 2011 and was lucky enough to spend over 10 years as part of one of the world’s biggest and most talented girl groups, Little Mix, and even NOW she’s still achieving more and growing more in the next stage of her career.
The Jade Thirlwall of 2011 probably wouldn’t be capable of doing this, but all those years spent learning how to be a big pop star as part of Little Mix and growing up in the industry has allowed her to develop such a strong sense of personal identity and artistry. She’s found a level of assuredness and belief in herself that you can only achieve in your 30s. For years, Jade would have grown up believing her age was a career death sentence for a woman in the music industry, but here she is showing that you can not only survive but thrive, and that your age and experience is a blessing as you are able to draw from that to put out your best possible output. Long may she continue to defy the expectations and pressures unfairly placed on her shoulders for being a woman in the music industry!

I wanted to add that her time with Little Mix not only allowed her to develop her personal identity and artistry as you so rightly said, but it also taught her vital skills to be able to perform at this level. The choreography, her stamina, her musicality, vocal control, vocal agility and range are all things that she has been mastering over the years and it's genuinely inspiring to see her blossom into such a talented solo artist. We have just witnessed the (re)birth of a generational superstar. JADE has an incredibly powerful and versatile voice, she’s able to emote beautifully through her singing, she’s able to craft and write her own music so everything you see on stage is coming from her heart, she’s able to pull from various different references to create a brilliantly theatrical performance, she can dance, she can just about do everything. It’s one thing having the ability to do these things, it’s another thing to put them all together and put the time and dedication in to your craft to create a piece of art that goes beyond just another song. She is a TREMENDOUS talent, a student of popular music and culture and she is going to transcend in to the upper echelons of pop stardom.

People who are surprised she can sing like this obviously were not paying attention to Little Mix since 2011. She was always one of the strongest voices of the group.
I think it’s more so because she didn’t sing these really big notes much at all and she really wasn’t that strong at it in the group compared to Leigh Anne and perrie. She was always doing the lower notes and her beautiful falsetto. People knew she could sing but not like this because she was in a group of four and relied on others to pick up where she wasn’t the strongest at. Now she is by herself and has improved in areas and gets to sing entire songs to herself so it sounds so fresh to the ear.

She even said it herself and is aware of her limits. She doesn’t need to be a belter which is one of the reasons she is my favorite. I fell in love with her falsetto and her soft airy voice. And as for Jesy, she could belt, but usually chose not to. Take SLS: Jade does the first verse and first chorus, whereas Perrie had to take the second chorus because Jesy either couldn't, or chose not to, push herself on belted vocals. I find myself coming back to this, it’s so captivating. The original version was theatrical and dramatic in its own way, but this version manages to not only maintain the theatrics but highlight how tragically beautiful and haunting the song’s melody actually is. It’s a testament to the songs quality when you can completely reinvent it like this and still capture the essence and pure emotion of the song without it feeling forced.

I’m so impressed with Jade. I knew she’d be the soloist who took the most risks. She doesn’t seem to care about her image (beyond the basics of just not being an asshole). She will burp in public, laugh the loudest, and she’s a creative diamond. She’s a great dancer, amazing singer, hell of an actress, and just overall, a creative artist.

Leigh just needed the second single to really pop off. The first wasn’t amazing. Jade blew the roof off because her solo debut is a single song that could have a million different incarnations. Jesy played it safe by cowtowing to hip hop culture and unfortunately aligning herself with Diddy (not her fault) and then Perrie did herself a disservice by not releasing Tears first. Her output has been tepid at best.

This is 100% LIVE, I'm in production, they will film the full video with her singing live vocals, hence why she has in ear monitors in, so every single time which I would say 4-5 time they did the run through she sang live and the live audio then gets pieced together in the studio for the notes and whatever she liked more. Just like Ariana Grande's VEVO performances and her 10 year celebration of her first album, that recorded live 4-5 times then pieced together in the studio for the best performance for us to listen and watch, but just remember Jade and Ariana sang this all. So it wouldn't matter if it was lip synced one bit. It's still her new vocals. The vocals were recorded right were she performing, hence the in ears and the microphone and you can hear the bang when she slams the floor. Same with Ariana you can hear her take the microphone off the stand countless times, hence her having overears so she can hear the band and the click to stay on tempo plus her voice.

I don't understand when someone goes 'this video clip sounds the same as the song on the CD or album' that because it's a music video. This is a live version with spliced vocals for the best vocals for us to listen too.

I’m blown away. This performance was ASTONISHING!!! Jade has already cemented herself as a visionary artist just from the first single.
this song getting a more intimate version was the best idea of all, even more so with the whole context of the song and the music video, which tells what the music industry is like in front of the cameras and behind them too, and JADE as she is/was part of one of the biggest girl bands in the history of the united kingdom and the world, which by the way was the last big global female/male group of great dominance to break up, so she knows very well what she sings in each verse of this track in its entirety, i'm so happy that JADE is having her moment as a great pop artist, because we are in such a raw moment and her delivering what she is delivering is truly something of a dream.
The fact that this S.A.D. version is different from the S.A.D. version on Spotify, and that there is a separate music video for it, says a lot about how much effort she's put into AOMD. She could've easily released a few more digitally edited versions or remixes, but she chose to put out this masterpiece. The completely different vocal and musical arrangements, production, looks, set - oh she really told her record label that she's the boss here and demanded for that budget. I'm a mixer since X Factor but somehow I always felt that Jade never got her flowers in the band. Everyone talked about Leigh Anne's evolution or Perrie's power but Jade has been a dark horse with her beltings and vocal range and this video proves it!

She was never as ignored as Leigh Anne was, to the point of people trying to correct themselves and give her more credit at some point, and she was also never the center of attention like Perrie was, because, well she looks like a Barbie and has powerful vocals (they really tried to make her "the leader" of the band, the girls rejected tho, including Perrie), so Jade was kind of a middle child. Not the least favorite, not the most seen. But she was second in favoritism for sure, even with Jesy in the group. Leigh Anne is still ignored to this day tho, she did not receive either the expectation Perrie received (but it didn't work anyway, because people were disappointed with Perrie's music) nor the same amount of support as Jade is receiving, while she obviously invested a LOT of money on promo. Jade seems to be making way better artistic choices with her music tho, my favorite right now.
