That clip of the South Africans, some white and some black in the bar losing it to the decision really hit me. You see people like Izzy acting like DDP can't call himself African and then you see clips like that. You tell me who the 'real' African is. It doesn't matter what colour he is, he represents South Africa and you can see that in those people's reactions. They don't give a shit that he's white, they care that he represents their homeland.

Sean could have been calm, but this is a contact sport. If he wanted to win, he could and should have done more. This basically tells you how good Du Plessis really is. Many probably didn't expect him to win...

According to the stats, Sean landed considerably more strikes than Driscus, so I'm not sure how much more he could have done other than avoiding takedowns, which is likely the main factor in why Drisus was given the victory.
It's debatable how much of a factor takedowns and control time should really be, especially when not very much is done with them.
I had Sean winning, but it was a great and close fight regardless.

Cannonier is injured, so I do think if Izzy wants, they'll do him vs DDP at 300, it just makes sense business wise.

Two outstanding champions, both in terms of ability and humility. Yes, of course, the expressions and gamesmanship are sometimes not that humble, but one understands that. It's the respect and honesty after the fight from both men that put them right up there as credits not only to their sport, but to sport in general. As a South African I am naturally immensely proud of, and happy for Dricus, but I will always hold Sean also in the highest regard. I hope Dricus invites him over to South Africa for a real South African experience ... as friends.

DDP has DEFINITELY grown on me .. true class , the way he gave respect to Sean. Sean has come so far . And I truly love Sean Strickland. No matter what , Sean is forever a champion! So few can say that . And I feel like it could have gone either way due to the fact no damage on the takedowns and how quickly Sean got up. Takedowns none the less were the deciding factors and honestly nice to see they actually counted as they should regardless of what happened after. A takedown IS a takedown. Hats off to BOTH champions. BOTH men brought it and looking forward to watching them both fulfill their destinies ☔️

I just know all the casual fans and haters will be complaining, given the controversial nature of Sean and the fact that we know Dana wants to have a major event in South Africa. DDP needed a knockout to shut up the haters, but I'm just waiting for enough authoritative figures to point out the facts. This man fought extremely smart. For a moment I thought he was going to just brawl, but the intention and clear strategy is what led to this narrow win. Sean didn't double down on what worked and that cost him.
