There are mixed opinions but it's an early concept and the standard Tesla's are probably not appropriate. But I would have thought that cheaper tunnelling would be a creditable goal. Of course, Musk is the only real commonality between Tesla and the Boring company. So it's really not the point. Anyway, 10 X value growth and a 3 for 1 split indicates track record and Optimus is only one of many growth drivers. Eg insurance, which can hardly be seen a revolutionary other than Tesla's advantage in data mining. Again, will you acknowledge success or just seek reasons to heckle the guy?
@@markthomas7279 if tesla ever comes out with a fully functional Optimus that lives up to its intentions ill eat my words. It just seems unfeasible. Like look were boston dynamics is at. Most assuredly the bots are becoming better but they are far away from serving a practical purpose.

I just took a 4500 mile road trip in my relatively new Model Y. If it were any other car, the phantom braking would be a deal breaker. It scared the shit out of me repeatedly. And yet, I still think it’s the best personal vehicle in the world considering value, utility, and performance. It’s that good.

I heard the robot will travel mac 2 in the hyperloop, followed by colonising Mars in a 100% reusable rocket, then cruise around in his full self driving car which requires constant hands on driving. I didn’t understand most of what they were talking about, but then watching smart people explaining it afterwards was so cool!! It reminded me of E3 but for tech instead of games.

While I fully accept that Elon falls into the category of wanting all workers in the office, I disagree with your statement about firing remote worker will reduce costs. If a company fires a remote worker or a on site worker the remuneration saving is the same - assuming payment parity. Where I differ is the remote worker does not require a desk or occupy office space and facilities so they save the company more money. In this way the company only needs a small percentage of hot desks and can reduce real estate costs. Some argue that efficiency drops. I think this is due to management. Basically if a worker has one week to compete a piece of work it does not matter whether they are at home or in the office the end date should be the same. Of course this does not apply to factory workers. So assuming we’re only discussing office workers, in my opinion remote workers safe more money. I understand where Elon is coming from. He is totally driven to create a multi planetary species as well as create a sustainable environment for all. He needs everyone at Tesla and SpaceX to work the same as he does. His thinking is black and white so there are no exceptions.

Tesla is a manufacturing company. All employees are factory workers and that's his point. Tesla won't make better cars if the engineers & support staff aren't directly on the line fixing problems. If you have nothing to do with the manufacturing line, why are you employed at Tesla?

@Roger Vieira C'mon people. Elon is not infallible. He should be admired for his achievements and as a visionary. However he's exhibited some immaturity and pettiness. He's made mistakes and will make mistakes in the future. Don't take every thing he says and does as gospel. My opinion is he should keep his focus on SpaceX, Tesla, AI, Starlink, Boring Company. Stay out of politics and twitter wars. Don't get into the mud. Stay above it all.

Imagine in the future when more EVs are on the road, with a situation where an EV runs out of power in the middle of the highway. I imagine some companies being formed that would have high capacity in power and charge rate mobile units on the road that would allow for quick road-side assistance to charge these cars for a nominal fee till the EV is able to reach the nearest charging station.
towing an ev while regen combined with fast charging from tow vehicle is the most efficient way.
Or you could have visual battery power remaining and alarms when recharging is critical. Oh all EVs already do that!

Elon really pushes the boundaries of what is possible. Plenty of organizations has been designing robots but not many have gone mainstream. Elon pushes industries into relevancy years in advance.
Apart from Boston Dynamics I have seen almost no innovation in humanoid robotics. Just the same slow moving clunky and useless crap. It'll be interesting to see if Elon delivers.

Ever since Tesla has updated on the fantom breaking my personal experience with the Tesla car has gotten 100% better, meaning I don’t experience fantom breaking anymore😉
My guess the first Tesla bot demonstration will be an electric food cart integrated with FSD. I’m guessing Tesla hardware in this field is years behind Boston dynamics. That being said I’m still cheering Tesla on!

Working remotely encourages isolation in silos. Going to the office means people can meet and rub shoulders with everyone else not directly involved in what an individual is doing. That means a better chance of cross pollination of ideas and it's easier to get people outside your department to give their input.
Also, the best place for an engineer is on the front lines of production. Any engineer who wants to stay with the company can shift to working on the floor, which means they see first hand what issues they want to fix or improve. This is why the world headquarters are in the Austin gigafactory, with windows overlooking the floor. They see what is going on and feel a closer connection to the actual building of cars.
Tesla made massive strides in innovation. But slowly other car manufacturers are using giga presses, selling online, making a battery that is structural, using LFP batteries. So the world is catching up. And that means... Tesla is no longer leading. And in turn... THAT means Tesla needs to keep innovating if it wants to maintain its lead. And THAT means more engineers on the floor / more floor workers coming up with new ideas that improve the cars / production processes. It's not easy when you made so many strides forward to continue the rate of innovations.
Regarding the economy, I heard someone working with the Federal Reserve Bank or something wanted to get inflation under control. This will lower demand for petroleum and result in Russia taking a hit on their oil and gas exports, which is how they are financing their war in Ukraine. I can't say how this affects electric cars because high fuel prices encourage people to buy an electric car but a slower economy means fewer car sales in general, including for electric cars. Either way, more innovations at Tesla will help them a lot in the coming 6 months to year.

When Tesla has a Bot that can perform rudimentary tasks this will begin to change the workforce as these jobs will no longer require humans. 10 more years or so and the workforce will begin to look very different. I will keep buying Tesla stock to prep for this massive change.
They will be able to press the buttons on the working robot technology that is already being installed in factories, which by the way are not in the least humanoid. The current robots conform to the task required not to the human form.

Auto breaking problem. i think this is part of AI emergent behavior as the system becomes more aware and more complex. Humans may not be able to perceive what the AI considers a threat and thus it is overreacting but not acting incorrectly. But if u were looking for bad or conflicted code u wont find any. Cuz the machine is much more sensitive then it has to be to perform certain tasks that must be done in near future possible events and its getting stressed out n needs a kind therapist n no Im not joking. Chatbot might work.

This is a double edged sword, either you steal brains from other companies or you create your own sentient AI to push the bleeding edge! If there are not enough brains ( with high intelligence ) to help get you were you want to go, then a highly intelligent AI might be an alternative route!

It is effectively a stealth development, little is known but I would be surprised if they have a robot with human size feet able to stand on its own and move at all. I forget where but some makerfaire style robotics guy said he had been working for tesla bot for a while and his level of work didn't strike me as leading to irobot anytime soon. It's fair from impossible to do a good body, Boston dynamics has done it but it would be a quick spool up of achievements if Tesla was there already combined with functioning machine learning governance. Not impossible, I think I could have directed a team to get there but it's not the tentative impression I'm piecing together. Should be interesting what they have.
