Miguel Cotto is not only my fav boxer of all time, he's my second favorite athlete of all time ( #1 is Dominique Wilkins). Love him cuz he was not a jab jab 1-2 kinda guy, he would really let his combinations fly, was not afraid to take punches, and he just had a fun to watch style. He obviously got his career messed up by Margacheato and prime Ariza-fueled Pacquiao who had him drained for their fight. He also got his arm fucked up midway trough his last fight too. He no doubt has one of the toughest opposition records in the last 20 years. Def in the top 5 best opponents list of everybody he faced.

    Cotto was a phenomenal fighter.
The true definition of a "Boxer Puncher".
It's just too bad his 147-154lbs reign housed 2 absolute legends of the sport in or near their primes - Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr.
If not for those 2, and the giant asterisk that is Margarito - he would have stayed on top far longer.

The Judah fight was Paulie's apex as a pro. I can't recall whether he was the underdog but I for one had picked Zab to win--by knockout, possibly--and felt confident enough to even hazard a small wager.
I didn't mind losing; I was impressed by Paulie's performance that night. W/ a great deal of pride, he competed his ass off; and yet, at no point did he resemble a man whose emotions had breached the outer perimeter of his combatant's aura. On the contrary: he was in complete control of his faculties, in complete control of his craft. Not an easy thing to pull off. See young fighters and their fugitive emotions running roughshod. In fact, I doubt Paulie himself was capable of the sangfroid w/ which he fought Judah earlier in his career, .
Plus, his jab was sharp by that point. It was on point that night and reproachless and in my humble estimation the very tool with which he got the W.
He deserves more credit than he's received for that victory--and for the arch of his career, in all truthfulness. For a guy without pop, he took on a lot of tough sonsabitches; that, on its own, warrants respect. He's got mine.

If you match up the resumes you’ll see that Khan beat more top class opponents than Hatton did. Khan is also a Olympic silver medalist at the age of 17 whilst unifying the light welterweight division. Hatton is a British great but for me Khan edges it in my opinion. What makes people put Khan down is the way he would get brutally knocked out. But he weren’t getting knocked out by feather fisted bums, he was getting knocked out by stone cold killers. Its Impressive that you was in there with ...
Cotto, Kahn, Hatton, Judah, Porter, Broner, Garcia, Diaz, and all the other tough, accomplished pros maybe slightly less impressive, but still impressive like Senchenko, and Ndou.

Noooo one thing about Paulie is he’d fight anyone even if they would overpower him he’d still try and out box them. Cotto,Hatton, judah, porter, Garcia are FINE competitors and he beat DIAZ ass in Texas they really robbed him max Kellerman said it himself

I wondered if Broner was going to sneak in there at number 5 with how many titles from different weight classes he had, but if I'm not mistaken some of those were vacated titles. For me, it is different when two top 10 guys are going after a title than it is to uncrown the king.

    • @kamrankhandevil
      @kamrankhandevil 2 года назад +1

Exactly accomplishments isn't just winning titles, it's also who you've beaten.. Broner doesn't have that kind of names on his resume, that's why Amir Khan should've been highers on the list, he beat some legends in his prime..

I dont get how you have Juan Diaz above Shawn Porter and Amir Khan (and Porter is ahead of Khan imo). Hell even Judah shouldnt really be ahead of those two or even in the top 5, who was his best win, Matthyse? Thats a good win but he lost all his top fights, including against Paulie.
Anyway my list for top Paulie opponents:
#1 Cotto (hands down easy pick)
#2 Porter (maintained highest level competition and was always neck and neck even in losses)
#3 Ricky Hatton (a beast in his prime at 140, and if not for the stupid comeback only lost against 2 all time great fighters in Pac and Mayweather)
    #4 Danny Garcia
#5 Amir Khan (who went on a legit good run and fought his way tooth and nail to being the best at 140, and fought some of the best of the best of the era)
Honorable mention Jaun Diaz who was a top contender and is the best win imo for Paulie
