- The “Simpsons” is truly a Vision-ary series.
The world’s most clairvoyant cartoon has done it again. This time the Matt Groening-created animated comedy has been credited with forecasting the rise of the Vision Pro, Apple’s much-hyped virtual reality headset that is currently blowing up the tech sphere.
“The Simpson predicted the future .. Yet again,” gushed one X user describing the cartoon’s alleged foretelling of the tech, which dropped Friday in Apple stores.
For the uninitiated, these “Black Mirror”-esque devices - controlled by the eyes and hand gestures - allow viewers to enjoy a range of hyperrealistic VR experiences, from an Alicia Keys concert to a rhino charging right at them.
Despite their hefty $3,500 price tag, Apple sold out of its initial stock of the gadgets after customers bought around 200,000 units during the 10 days.

First VR headset was developed back in the 60, in the 80s every video gamer knew about this technology and since the 90s in was commercially available from many companies like Microsoft and Sony. Majority of Simpsons predictions episodes were made after the events took place, but when you make thousands of episodes you can guess some future events, "we can see patterns from history, so we can make educated predictions of trends or possible scenarios".

This one’s a stretch as for Simpson’s predictions.
First they’ve been around or an idea since the 1990s, and 8+years ago there was a big rush to create VR headsets using smart phones that this more or less better matches.
Second, you can see what you are doing or the world around you with the new Apple headset. Sure things you are viewing can distract you, but just like everything you need to pay attention. Same as if you had your phone in the hand and moved around.

@@CarloGrams Nope. AR is when you can see the reality through the display and they show you stuff on to top of it. This recreates the 3d surrounding and adds stuff to it. Technically different.
@@CarloGrams and whats hololens then ? super AR ? this is a virtual reality, you are seeing reality through a screen like a game. It will never be as comfortable as looking at stuff through your eyes. But as a first gen its okay you can call it mixed reality maybe.
I think it is AR since a character in cartoon walking with it. For VR, user only walk 1 or two steps only.

They depicted it as requiring a backpack sized device attached to the goggles and gloves.
Apple managed to do it without those things, but only a small, external battery.

People act like this is new, its not. Virtual reality has been here for years. Sony had a pair in 1998 called glasstron. People are so easy to manipulate its ridiculous. Everyone believes everything anymore.

btw. we had 3D VR Headsets back in 1998, they were great for CSbeta and such. The difference, of course, is that you now "sell" everything you do to Apple for "product improvements" 😂🍎😂 (sell is a reach - you are willingly pressing it deep into the apple hole)

Wow 2016 was the release year of Oculus first consumer VR headset. The episode had them literally mimicking Oculus Rift apps and making fun of it.
