He never really had a quick first step he was more slithery and crafty getting into the rim simply because he lacked the power and athleticism of players like Jordan or LeBron. That's why he often times settles for tough mid range jumpers as shown here and also in the "Greatest Peaks" series. Which makes me respect Kobe even more. He was an elite scorer and a 30ppg scorer multiple times settling for jumpers that had 2-3 players with their hands up on him and STILL being able to make it.
