Monarch's First Flight

The coming out process for a monarch butterfly takes about an hour and a half. You can tell when they're ready because their chrysalis will become transparent. Their wings are clearly visible. After it emerges it will hang for up to two hours in order for the fluid stored in it's body to fill the veins in it's wings. The first short flight is to a place where it can find shade and shelter while it gains strength.
