Fans want a rich history of character they love. Amazing well written story without any agendas or DEI. Fans will fire back and these big companies forget that what makes a movie money is the fans. You insult them with name calling and accusing them of being something just because they want a decades rich story well written without DEI. They will boycott your movies. Back when the Original trilogy was in theaters, diverse crowds of humans stood around the block waiting for tickets, all enjoying each other's company. Nobody was excluded, nobody was told, "This isn't for you!" or "You're too toxic to stand in line with us." Nothing in the movies beat us over the head with politics. This was pure, escapist entertainment, and a LOT of the fans were young men who weren't the alpha coolest bad-asses, and their friends, families and dates. These guys loved being able to escape and feel like greatness was possible. Now? Diversity and Inclusion doesn't include us, not even a little bit.

I'm having a hard time understanding what "Black Culture" really means. Are the struggles of our ancestors considered culture, even though we didn't live through them? It feels like our version of black culture is tearing down and killing our own. It's frustrating trying to grasp the concept of Black Culture when it seems to involve excluding others by saying "They ain’t like us" or "she ain’t black enough." I think I'm finally starting to get it.

From my perspective, if a person is half-Black and half-White, or Hispanic, or Asian (Japanese, Chinese, Indian, what-have-you), or any other ethnicity, then be proud of that and OWN IT, even if you grew up privileged. Don't say you're "oppressed" when you have a net worth in the millions of dollars and a White European father who is a successful businessman who can afford to provide for you in ways many Black-American families WISHED they could for their children, but can't due to a variety of Socio-economic factors. It's insulting, especially to those who DO know first-hand what that oppression truly feels like.
And to answer your first question: Yes, the struggles of our ancestors ARE considered part of our culture because those struggles have defined who we are as a People, and believe me, we STILL live through those same struggles everyday; that has not changed, only the name. For example, slavery? Check. We may not be literally bound wrist and ankle into forced labor in the cotton fields anymore, true, but we are still "slaves" to the various aforementioned Socio-economic forces that keep many of us living in abject poverty everyday; forces that compel many of us to turn to desperate measures just to survive, and believe me, to "just get a job" or "just go to college" is easier said than done.
Black Culture is not about "tearing down and killing our own", and it saddens me you take it that way. Black Culture is about the pride that comes not so much from a history of shared struggle (even though that is a part of it), but from the accomplishments of our People IN SPITE OF those struggles. There are plenty of talented Mixed-race people out there who do our community proud (Zendaya Coleman comes to mind); Amandla Stenberg is not one of them.
