OMG I'm the same! Listening to you was like listening to myself - the brain dumps, the task purgatory, the planning rather than doing lol I've subscribed, looking forward to following ❤️
You have given me so much to think about, with your videos I have decided to get off the crazy train and the “planner stack.” I do not need a stack of planners to be more organized. I just need a system with one.
I’m a big fan of having only one planner. I used to have a separate planner and small daily journal, but yeah I definitely prefer having everything in one place!
I am always excited to see another person loves planner😂. I know that so nerdy, but I am okay with that. You should try add your planner into a traveler notebook cover. It will allow you to add notebook for lists.
Haha I definitely love planners! I did look into travelers notebooks, but I didn’t like the idea of flipping back and forth so much. Maybe it’ll work for me at some point in the future 😊
My planner evolution is like this : personal rings-Stabdard TB -At rings-hobonichi-persinal rings-a 6 hobonichi-personal rings-hobonivhi weeks-pocket rings for 4 years, and now I'm moving to the disc notebooks and Standard TN. Alwat6been making my own printables so I don't have to search for the perfect planner
Very cool! I think it's so interesting that absolutely everyone who plans has had some kind of evolution in their planning style, as we all try to find what works best for us 😊
I like journaling (paper) more for the creative side rather than writing or digital typing. Appointments in the phone (the alarms set). A list on scrap paper. Journals, play with artsy stuff.
May I suggest you read The Bullet Journal Method by Ryder Carroll? It’s a great read regardless of whether you bullet journal or not (since you do organise your days). I think your bullet journal “fails” had more to do with you sort of complicating things than the method itself - for example, you don’t have to migrate monthly tasks, just write them down on a paper that you can stick to your planner with washi tape, and then just move around as you progress to a new month 😀 And yes, writing on paper is much better than going fully digital. It’s the act of making time, and actually writing, that aids in retention. It also makes you more likely to follow through, for some scientific reason. Anyway, I had fun watching your video and seeing a fellow human’s brain at work. Thanks for sharing!
I should definitely read The Bullet Journal Method at some point! I think it came out right around the time I had decided that bullet journaling wasn’t for me, so I didn’t put in the effort. But at least I’m really pleased with my current planning system, and the hybrid paper-digital thing I’ve got going!
@@ColorCodedChaos I promise it's worth your time! Think of it more as a book on why we journal, and why it's important for a life with meaning. The system itself, can be whatever works for you. I'm really glad you found your sweet spot. I'm still tweaking as I go, but it's all part of the journey, am I right? :)
I can’t wait to get my hands on that Take A Note planner. Your struggles with planning sound so familiar lol! I am currently using a hobonichi cousin and although I really like a lot of things about it, the wastefulness of it really gets to me too! Absolutely love all your videos!
That's great, and I did watch to the end. I like that you integrate journaling with your planner, makes so much sense. I've been using Excel to do my tracking, I print the sheets with needed changes and stick them in my planner at the beginning of the month, along with my weight and sleep charts (also in Excel). It makes my note book a bit thick at the end of the year, but I don't care. Some months, I add a printed Gratitudes list too, or a one-sentence journal. I'll be looking for the Take A Note Planner for next year. Thank you!
Thank you! I love the Take a Note, I think it’s so versatile and can be integrated with other systems that work for you 😊 hope you enjoy it as much as I do!
I can totally relate to the paper and pencil I'm the same way with the workout. I can write and log with proper and notebook but I have try using app on my cell and nope I become discouraged or side track instead of focusing on workout
I realized awhile ago that weekly planning was not my thing.I would put like one thing on each day. So now I do a little section with appointments and weekly to do’s. I use that to plan my days. It is sorta like your dashboard but more tasks than events. I also use a whole page each day for planning. I have to do, to buy, and then under it space for anything I think of during the day to dump. I have a master project or goal for the year list at the front. I add dumps there each night. When I plan the next week I look through the last week for undone stuff and dumps I can do and I use the master list to make small tasks. Finishing projects is my weakness but this method is helping me actually check stuff off that master list! I think it is because I am focusing on those tasks before all the daily life stuff. I get the basics done there...
I love how thorough your system is!! This is so great, and I’m glad it’s been helping you finish projects- that’s the main thing, of course! You inspired me, I think I may start listing out the steps of all my projects so that it’s easier to pull over individual items to my dailies 😍
OMG, you’re informative and adorable! I clicked subscribe right before your outro where you basically said if you stuck around this long we should be friends. Ha! Yes, we should! Great video. 🥰
Always so interesting to hear about other people’s “planner journey”. I’ve been toying with the idea of one of the Hobonichi planners next year. But what size, which layout? Turns out there are choices, which means decisions! By the time I have decided, they’ll be sold out. Currently Bullet Journalling, but it is a mixture of to-do lists, work scheduling, logging, light journalling and notes. It is mostly working. I just moved into a new book and I’ve made some adjustments for future planning, which was one thing I was having a hard time with. I don’t have a busy life, but there are some things which I want to remind myself about, that in a structured planner I would just write on the appropriate dated page. We’ll see how I feel in a couple of months, when 2022 planners start coming out. But, whatever I choose, it will be paper!
You had me at the title--I've never seen the movies it's based on because I have no interest in YA love, but I am down for planner love! My planner history looks like yours: Traditional Staples planner> BuJo> Hobo Cousin> Jibun Techo/ BuJo hybrid (current). I actually like the "stupid" vertical weekly because visually I need to see the week that way LOL. But I may give the overview layout a try if I go back to a full BuJo for 2022. (Yes, my mind is already there) Thanks for sharing your journey.
Are you like my long lost friend? I love planning but I should live don't this I plan more. And I love talking and showing my planners to people. I'm so happy I came across your channel.
Thank you, I’m glad to hear it!! Those light purple tabs are the Avery Mini Ultra Tabs, and I used them to separate months in my bullet journal. Hope that helps 😊
Haha I can only use hobonichi cousin and original (A6) like the Japanese tend to use them, that is using them only for memory keeping and decorating usually in the kawaii style or something similar. I have watched so many Japanese and European/American/Australian channels by now and I really feel like the Japanese almost only use hobonichi for memory keeping and definitely not planning as opposed to the rest of the world that tend to use them as planners.. 🤷 You can definitely do both the way they are designed... I also used to use the weekly pages for logging when I did what in my day (again not planning whatsoever haha). Oh, also the English version is available only in the A6 size. (Though I still prefer the japanese...) With digital planning, well I get sooo distracted when I am on my ipad!!! I really can't focus on my planner.... Also, I think I want to physically see the planner on the desk to remember to use it/to be motivated to do things to the point that I tried to keep the ipad with the screen always on for a couple of days in case it made a difference. Well, it didn't...! 😂 Not for me!! ♥️ I also think I like changing planners after a few months so I'm not really looking to find the one system/planner layout. I consider planner peace to be the state when you enjoy your planner choice in each given time/when your planner works great for a period of time at a time. Not the finding of one system to rule them on! 😁 I just love planners! ♥️
Ah okay that makes sense then!! Definitely feel the Hobonichi would work best as a journal and not a planner. And yes, that was my problem with the iPad planning to! I had a shortcut set up for the planner, but I just didn’t think of it like I do when I see my paper planner. I agree on planner peace- I know my system is going to change as my life changes, but that just means I get to sample more fun things 😍🥰
I don't know anyone in my personal life who's into planners .. :-( I tried connecting with a couple of planning nerds thru a Facebook group but they fizzled out. I just spend my time watching RUclips videos and that's how I came here.
I'm sorry to hear that! I'm lucky that I have my mom and a couple friends who understand my planning love. But it still wasn't enough lol so I make videos too :P
Good question! I think examples will work best to illustrate how I use these lists: my 2020 goals list included things like “graduate from college”, “start working in consulting” and “X number of exercise days”. My yearly list is just big projects that I want to complete during that calendar year: this year I’ve got items like “sign up for Global Entry”, “scan all important documents” and “recycle old clothing”. The goals listed are big steps toward what I want my life to look like, where my yearly task list was a sort of overall to-do list. Hope that helps 😊
OMG I'm the same! Listening to you was like listening to myself - the brain dumps, the task purgatory, the planning rather than doing lol I've subscribed, looking forward to following ❤️
Haha thanks!! Glad you can relate, and hopefully we can discover even better systems together :)

I’m glad it was helpful! 🥰
Your opening statement....I was like...yaaaaas!
Haha you get me!!
"Take a note " layout is really easy to make in a buji-just divide the pages in half
Absolutely! I just got to the point where I didn’t want to draw out my own layouts at all 😅 but super easy to recreate!
