British watches have always been nice! Stirling, Rotary, Sheffield, etc... They have unique and awesome styles and designs. This is a very rad design and I dont mind the acrylic crystal. Its more impact resistant and I can buff out the scratches so it should be no problem! There is a lot on offer here for the price! The branding is done in a very cool manner as well! Thanks for sharing Kieran!
Finally, someone speaking a bit of sense! Glad I can trust you to come in with a level head. I agree. This watch is completely design first. I'm also very impressed with the movement inside this one, if you couldn't already tell. Appreciate you! Stay well mate
@@TopTierTicker I dont get the hate. This seems interesting and the design is fresh and unique. Okay so SOME of their components is made in China... So is many other brands as well including Seiko, Citizen, Tissot etc...
ordered a pink one with manual movement. It is not for everyone, but i really dig the dial design. If you want something that got the best spec for the money, buy aliexpress watch (not that I have anything against them I actually do own a couple). If you want something unique, consider this.
Thank you Kieran. I didn’t know of the brand but never seen this watch or knew all of this brand history before. It a really striking watch and I, like you think the acrylic crystal looks great on this one. There is a lot to appreciate here!!
I want to justify the watch price, but I can't. I feel like I could get a fun watch that has a similar look in a Swatch, or a better look in a Mr Jones watch.
Thanks Kieron for another heads up on a watch I've not seen before. I like it's simple design with a variety of colours, and you can have fun trying different straps. Personally I don't mind a brushed case so yes, I like these. All the best mate 👍
As a value proposition, this is a LJP G100 with the highest level of finishing, a german made dial, german strap, British assembly and regulation and all European packaging. Show me anything else under a grand which comes close to that, or two grand even?
It's a bit pricey for what it is but I love the playful design and vibrant colours. Have my eye on the pink quartz model, hoping that they have a year-end sale 🤞
I love Anordain but the waiting time is ridiculous…… A deposit they hold onto for 3-4 years. 🤷🏻♀️ There are a few other very interesting enamel dialed watch brands. Great video as always.
AuOrdain is one of my dream watches. I love the saturated color. But prices beyond my pension. Thanks for mentioning this watch and the cheaper quartz version. As for anyone suggesting Ali Express forget it. No quality control or warranty. Buy items made locally and you multiply the economic effect.
Hi i love your vids, very informative with great views on time pieces, can you do a review on swan and edgar watches, they are a brand i came across recently, and i would love to know your views on there watches
I like how you assume we’ve never heard of one of the most common movements from Switzerland. 😂 The value is as absent from Paulin as it is from AnOrdain. This couple is gutsy. AnOrdain asks you for thousands of dollars and a 3-4 year wait and Paulin creates a $250 watch and asks you $800 for it. Very gutsy. I have a feeling I wouldn’t enjoy meeting them. I don’t like cash grabbers.
Other than the movement, there is nothing about this watch that I like. Absolutely nothing. Ugly case, revolting and cheap looking dial, unsuitable bracelet and a silly brand name. I don't think I've ever seen a microbrand watch that elicited a "hell no!" reaction from me as quickly as this one. But maybe being so polarizing is a marketing tactic that can work for them. Better than yet another basic diver, I guess. I wish them success but it's sure as hell not for me.
I've tried but I just can't get into the microbrand sector of the hobby. I just can't shake the 'parts bin special special' aspect. I don't know why I would choose something cobbled together with bits and pieces from Chinese factories when, for the same price, I can buy a Seiko, Citizen or Tissot. To me these microbrands are no different to cheap Aliexpress offerings. The components will all come from the same factories. They're just guys who choose generic parts, have them put together and then market them as something they're not. It really is just marketing. By the way, that brown watch looks bloody awful.
Nothing wrong with that! Paulin has always approached watchmaking in an artistic way. They actually sell watches in art museums! Appreciate you watching. Stay well 🙏
Design is subjective, I hear that. I disagree though with the expensive part. It features a premium Swiss movement that costs $300 on its own. Factor in all the other parts, assembly, and dare I say a slice of profit?
@@TopTierTicker “let’s be honest - it’s the design that you’re buying here” -you Pick one: Make a prettier watch worth the price-tag, or use a more affordable movement and price it appropriately for its “bottom of a cereal box” aesthetic. You seem desperate to split the difference.
You've misunderstood me with that comment. I'm saying that the watch's design is obviously contentious. You either love it or hate it. You wouldn't buy this watch on a whim. It either grabs you instantly or makes you yawn. Why should they use a cheaper movement? Paulin obviously believes in this design as it's their most expensive watch. If you don't like the look of it, you aren't going to like it more just because it's cheaper. That's not how appreciating a design works.
I suspect money under the table, when you promote a piece of crap like this as the holy grail The finish is despicable, strap cut from an old air mattress..., the design scream Hamleys. You could assemble this watch with Aliexpress parts for 30 quid😑 But if you crave the look of a Mickey Mouse watch at an insane price, this must be for you.

That LJP movement is really nice. And actually looks pretty good too.
It's a very good looking movement! The power reserve is also super cool to have. Take it off Friday evening, put it on Monday morning 👌
I would rather have the movement at the front
I love my Farer, Beaucroft, Christopher Ward and my Fox’s Fruits sweets. 😁😉

also acrylic looks better than sapphire
Gotta say I dig the flat matte dial! Part of what makes the whole thing pop!

Thank you for bringing these to my attention. Love the funky colours and the fact that its a UK brand.
They didn't think that name through, it's very similar to the aliexpress brand Pierre Paulin.
Paulin predates Pierre Paulin by about 5 years! 😆

My 30 year old 30£ Vostok Komandirskie. In house production. Great looks.
Very 70’s vibe giving me Seiko 6139 and Braun mish-mash vibes. I am a fan of that case design.
I love the colors!

Precisely that! We should (in my opinion) try our best to support the brands who work hard!
Appreciate you watching!

Can you look at the accurist dive please!
I'll get one in soon!
Yes they are and always have been.
Love that!
@@TopTierTicker American here obviously, but have always held British watch and clock making in the highest regard.
That looks amazing.
It's clear by the comments that it's a contentious design. Glad I'm not the only one who likes it!

I like them but they're out of my range, especially when you see the actual price including VAT.
needs sapphire!!!
The case looks a bit like a King Seiko case from the 60s.
A yeah Britain (Shenzhen)
Just like their cuisine, this is bland and uninspired. Reminds me of those clocks they'd give first graders to learn how to read handsets
I disagree! Our food is boring but our watches aren't! 😆😂
Yeah, hard disagree here…
it looks like a 10 USD watch bought from TEMU
No it doesn't
With a $300 movement inside? Send me a link, I need one!

The only other time i’ve been this put off by a watch was when I saw the first brew metric.
The anOrdain Plum fume Mark 1 is an outstanding watch , this Paulin is an also ran that has no appeal to me.
Hands and dial is beautiful
That handset is probably my favourite part of the dial. It's so cool when the index passes through the minute hand!
