The Great Western Greenway

Join us now on a trip along the Great Western Greenway Cycling & Walking Trail from Westport, through Newport, Mulranny and on to Achill Island. If you haven't done it yet you'll definitely want to do it now!
The Greenway follows the route of the old railway line from Westport to Achill but plans are in place to extending it all around Clew Bay.
It has played a huge role in the development of tourism in Mayo and such is its success that greeway projects are being planned or are in development across the country, In fact the building of greenways for tourism and recreational purposes has been prioritised by the Irish Government and they recently announced funding for projects in 20 counties.
