I never knew that PAF Pro is so good across any musical style. Thank you for revealing the truth to us all. Your channel is the best, and most valid guitar pickup comparison.
I tried alnico magnets in a set of evolution neck and bridge pickups and settle with a A4 in both and use both as bridge pickups, and they sound much much better, less harsh, sweeter, warmer and clearer. I think the PAF PRO would sound much better with A3 neck/A4 bridge; the A5 magnet is too bright and piercing.
I can't speak highly enough about the PAF Pro. It's got every quality you could want in a humbucker. Articulate, tight bottom end, open, strong mid range. If ever someone is interested in a pickup upgrade but unsure I'd always say PAF Pro, or Tone Zone. The TZ is basically the most balanced pickup you'll ever find. Can also do anything, but had has a flatter EQ (ignore the official claim that it's bass heavy). Tone Zone was also almost the EVH signature pickup. It came down to a toss up between it and another Dimarzio prototype, he couldn't choose and ultimately asked Steve Lukather, who liked the other one that became the EVH model, and they released the Tone Zone anyway because it's the same kinda thing with a bit smarter design. It's based on the JB but made to be better in every way, more articulate and dynamic, less dark.
PAF pro is the best sounding DiMarzio pickup I've heard yet. Well, pretty much, but in my opinion if you want metal, go with the Seymour Duncan full shred.
The thing is the PAF Pro is good both clean and dirty and can cover a lot of different genre types. Get a Super Distortion or a Super 2 (which to me as a hotter PAF Pro which I love) and it will get you full shred. =) I have PAF Pro's and the Duncan JB's and Custom Stacks in my various guitars.
@@ashirdaniel3115 More melodic tones along with the metal sounds. I don't blame you, I'm definitely a DiMarzio guy coming from when I used to prefer Seymour Duncan, I was younger and didn't know how to play as wide of a range of music then, I'm 57 years old, and definitely prefer DiMarzio. I have a 2023 premium model s1070pbz, I chose it over the prestige or the jcustom models (except for jcustom looks and trem), but the s1070 comes with locking tuners, DiMarzio pickups, (real ones, not Ibanez only) SS frets, and the 11 piece neck with a through the body bolt on construction. And it's got a mahogany body, plus a edge zero 2 with zps. Only thing I had to do was give it a killer setup (as I'm a guitar tech myself) and it's better than a 2000.00 prestige.
@@beymatgomo5777 There are quite a few you could use. HS3, the Cruiser which is awesome! Did you want a traditional strat sound or something hum canceling? To be honest it's pretty hard to beat the cruiser even Andy Timmons uses and loves them. It is really up to you all single coils will work great with the PAF pro!🤘

This channel is definitely a game changer! It's absolutely The Best! Thank you so much for a huge amount of job you do, Mike!
PAF pro sounds great. The trebles don't clip or get thin. The bass sounds good without getting droney.
I love your pickup comparison videos. Could you perhaps do one for the EVO neck and PAF Pro in neck position?

Good test. I'm looking right now for new pickup for my RG1570. My first choice was Evo but now I'm not sure.

I have a full shred in my RG2610 and I am watching this video to see about replacing it. I love the PAF 7's in my J.Custom.
