Sail is an open world, multiplayer, VR pirate adventure game inspired by games like Sea of Thieves & Assassin's Creed Black Flag.
Sail Multiplayer is loaded with repayable features including:
- Social Lobbies: Join forces with friends or make new ones in the pirate social lobbies.
- Player Customization: Customize your pirate look with hats, eye patches, jackets, beards & more!!!
- PvP Pirate Combat: Battle other crews in in exhilarating ship-to-ship combat or sword duels.
- PvP Combat: Face off against cunning NPCs on land and sea.
- XP & Leveling: Level up as you plunder and earn your pirate reputation
- Treasure Hunting: Solve riddles and puzzles to be lead to buried loot.
- Extraction Game Mode: Outwit and outplay other crews for treasure and glory but you only get to keep it if you make it out alive.

My dream feature for any VR pirate game is NPC crewmates on large ships that I could activate via voice command. “Gunners! Fire starboard!” “Sailors! lower the sails” etc.
This is destined to be the greatest multiplayer VR game since Population 1 in my book!

Another question, will the large and extra large ships be in multiplayer? I feel like they would add the comedy that I crave so desperately.
I think with treasure, one of the big things that Sea of Thieves does is have chests you can pick up and carry back to your ship and store them physically on board. I think having something like this would make boarding other player boats more important. Right now you’re boarding to kill the player and pick up the chest they themselves drop, but actually having chests with a loot value to store and bring to port would add another layer to the game.
The main problem with that is how glitchy and laggy it would get.
I think having free single player but paid multiplayer would allow you to get new consumers while still being able to earn money if they are interested in the multiplayer and want to support you. Definitely a good move!

personally i think making it free to play will make it too micro transaction filled if you still want to make money off of it, also would love more ship options and more customization, and can we please get estimated times on when they come out? still would love to work for you btw

I really liked the grabbing mechanics from the early access will the grabbing interactions revert to how they were by snapping to the objects it feels so much better to actually have your hand grab the object instead of floating near it
One of the things that I would like to see is once you dig up treasure the map would disappear. Because I’ve had it where I’ve had five of the same maps, but yet I can only dig it up once.
Also, I noticed that if I dig up one treasure chest, I cannot dig up another one until I go to Port first and turn in my treasure. Which defeats the idea of coming back with more treasure. I don’t know if it’s just me.

I know a feature. I know it's possible, but it's very difficult to make Twitter. Uranium eyes where they spawn make Islands big more explorable. And if you explore said Islands, then you can draw it out on a map. The drawing is guidelined and it looked wonky, but it shows you where to draw and how to draw it. And in the end it becomes an island on the map. So it's an exploration in APV.P server but it's a special mode
go free to play, i bought it on steam, couldnt run it, didnt refund, got it on quest and bought it for my friend. I have been with you for two years and a patreon supporter, You have a true gem and I am truly proud of all the hard work you did my guy! Even when meta originally said no you kept trucking ahead. I cant wait to see what comes next, would definitely like to see loot drops from enemies, such as weapons and guns, and maybe underwater wrecks with loot and sharks, thatd be super cool, i love scuba diving!
I'd make an a way to identify the different treasure maps, like a marker identifying the many maps on the top right of them (e.i. map one or map two). This way it allows the community to easily let you know if there is a glitch with one of the specific maps.
There is a flying glitch where players can park their ship by extraction and just sprint on the air to come kill you as you head to extraction.
There is also a huge lag issue in multiplayer where players spawn dozens of ships to lag out a server.
Not sure if seperating the already tiny population of vr gamers into different private/solo/multiplayer servers is a smart idea but hey its your game. it does look like you guys are making it come along nicely! cant wait :)
Add more ships not the same small one (and i think a ship with oars would be cool) also maybe a little bit more realistic sail mechanics for example instead of slowing down when you're going directly into the wind you would stop and maybe even go directly backwards or if you're going super fast and your sales are too tight then you might start to lean over or something it just seems like a fun idea
Also please make the thing that tells you where the wind is going a little bit more visible for the captain if you're you know just single playering
The pvp cursed treasure is about to be my THING
best vr multiplayer game I played, when it works, me and my mate just finished trying to play the game for an hour because the only connection between us and the server was fucking spiritual.
Im confused, i only recently went to play SAIL and cover it a bit. but only now start seeing how much more there is to do then what i experienced. is the singleplayer totally scrapped from Steam? how does this work.
I see the single player on apps labs still, but i bought the multiplayer version on steam, is this the version thats going to get reworked into a full multiplayer experience?
Great to hear I’m really curious on how the bigger ships are gonna work tho. Will u permanently have that ship when u buy it or will it just be its own bottled ship. If so will a feature be added so we can get our ships back?
You are amazing, its funny how you can make all these cool updates and sea of thieves still hasn't added any new content for about a year or year and a half now

Just wondering could you possibly as support to the rift and rift s? just so its more accessible and then i have a bunch of mates who want to play it by are limited by there rift. andyways hell yeah multiplayer!!!

So for someone who has really long arms compared to their height, the full body avatars dont function the same. I would maybe make a setting to adjust arm length as well

I’m not in support of free to play. Because that would make the people who payed $20 already mad. But I think you should make the world more lively after private and pve servers. Add towns unique biomes. More enemies. Passive creatures. Structures to challenge yourself in. Just ways to actually pull off a good open world. Ways to earn gold without doing quests. After that you can expand on that adding a story mode. Also there’s got to be a way to heal yourself without buying rum and rum is not able to heal you enough.
I cant wait i had a long week of 12 hour shifts i found out a little late about this game but ima get it this sunday basically tomorrow 😄👍
I think you should make it free but also add reporting and friending and vote kicking because if it was toxic like gorilla tag in gorilla tag, you can’t vote kick people or anything like that

I’m so excited for what’s ahead with this game I love yhe idea with pvp but I think it will be fun if there was a mode where it was an all out war like there are 50 people in a lobby or smt and its a 25v25 and there’s 10 boats 5 for each team and each boat has 5 players and both teams meet in the middle of the map and they start on the side of the map collecting treasure and Loot that will help them during battle
is it possible to talk in this game with the quest 2 mic doesn’t seem to be working for me although using gestures has led to some funny moments
I have been playing this game for 2 years and all I can say is wow man I took like a 7 month break and I can not believe this is the same game
I think f2p is the way to go, it would allow so many more people to enter the community especially since Christmas is coming up. And go the sea of thieves type route with cosmetic only items you can spend real cash on, or earn. I really like this game and im going to try to purchase it when I can, but I see no one making videos about it, so maybe more content creators will try it out when if it was f2p.

i think an improvement to hand to hand combat would be great like a stamina system because kids are just able to infinitely flick their sword around

I think F2P is a good idea as multiplayer games live and die on the population but even in its current state it is so much silly fun.

Any possibility the ships are taken off the map? I mean, how do you sneak up on someone if they can see you coming from a mile away? If it’s done similarly to sot where you have to earn the ability to see some ships via reaper 5, but as it is now it’s justttttt not greattttt

Coming from someone who joined straight after the first treasure hunt, I think that a lot of little kids would join if you made it free to play. And I don’t want this game to start to get over run with 10 year olds. But that’s what I think.

if you go the free to play route, there is one simple rule... CUSTOMIZATION. No gameplay advantages, just paid character customization to adjust avatars to people's likeness. This will give you plenty of income, which you deserve.

Please make some cosmetics actual in game currency. For example you have one cosmetic set actual star coins and the actual normal looking pirate stuff coins in game please

I don't know, whenever I see a free game my first assumption is a scam where they try to con me out of my money. Personally, when I buy a game my assumption is that I've paid for the right to not be nickel and dimed later on. You need to make your money as well so it's good to align expectations early on in order to not surprise players. I think a reasonable price and sale periods work fine.

I love everything except the idea of the Free to play. I’m fine with the idea of it being free however I’d like to ask some big questions to really make me understand what you mean by “Free to play”:
1. Will Starcoins be obtainable by playing the game or only through micro transactions?
2. If it was to be Free to play, would there be any changes in the updates (e.g less content in favor for more outfits and cosmetic changes)
Other than that I am HYPED
So yes star coins would be earned through play or via purchase and updates would be purely for content. Cosmetics are actually more of a static thing that we can make in batches and just stick in one update and be set for 2-3 months hahaha

@@Sail_VR damn man it's been so long since I saw a team who cared about their community and their game... This truly brings a tear to my eye considering I was there when valve abandoned tf2, I was there when COD abandoned its community. I was even there when SoT became more about microtransactions then gameplay. Good luck to you and the team man, I really appreciate and think this game will be a gem that hopefully isn't hidden. It's developers like you that make me remember that not all game producers hate making games and hate their playerbase. Good God damn luck man, y'all deserve it.
What about the rifle and throwing axe?
Rifle is being worked on and I think throwing axe is gonna be single-player exclusive. It would be broken in multiplayer

i would say that you should fix ANY annoying bugs (i know theres a few like duping and the inventory just being annoying in general and not being in the right place) because as you know stride came out with a lot of bugs which i think heavily stumped the growth of the game and gained lots of bad reviews which an indie dev does not want so fix all bugs and make it smooth and then make it free!!
I don't like the free to play idea that, with a small dev team you need all the money you can get, just my thoughts though

I would ignore the comments saying not to make it free to play. Pretty much any game nowadays paid or not is gonna have either a chill community or a more toxic one. Take call of duty for example. When it comes down to the final decision, it’s up to you. It’s your game.

I say don’t make sail vr free YET. I recommend fixing up the bugs first and makes it as shiny as possible for the masses. Also maybe add more treasure hunting and loots economy features!

I feel quite upset about making the game free it's unfair that I spent like every on else in England 15 pounds and some other people don't have to pay a penny but anyway the games great
I don’t get why people don’t want it to be free to play, it can bring a huge amount of people into the game and if y’all can’t handle children then that’s your problem. The point about the cosmetics, you could make a system like echo vr where there are some free cosmetics, and the ones that cost money can be earned, but it will take a lot of effort.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again - I don't think this game should go F2P. I really don't want this game to get the toxicity of the Gorilla Tag community and generally just squeakers... And again, I'd much rather have to pay once and be able to earn currency than have the game riddled with microtransactions.

100% brother man. I like games that have a smaller community as it is always a community that actually cares for the product. Games like NMS and Township Tale are a perfect example of big games that you have to pay for but have benefited greatly (also I know Township Tale costs nothing on a PC but how many 10 year olds play PCVR?)
Would having private servers and non pvp worlds help with that?

Me personally I don’t think it should be free to play although I do think a single player should be free to play but multiplayer should not be either a one off purchase or a monthly subscription (can be payed with gold) at a grind … I just don’t want this game getting a toxic community like other free games *cough* Gorilla Tag
Also a respawn at your boat costing gold I don’t know if that is possible but it was just a idea that could mabe added in the distant future
